Rating: Summary: There is a short story, also! Review: If you are a fan of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles, don't forget to read the author's "Book of Enchantments"! At the end of the book, which is filled with short stories, is one about Cimmorene and Mendanbar and the "Frying Pan of Doom". It's great, and a continuation of the Chronicles! Don't miss it!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful. Review: Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles are like a satire on the traditional fairy tale. The princesses are not perfect, the princes are either entirely overconfident or completely unsure of themselves, the kings don't do their jobs the way the ought to, and the witches don't have warts on the ends of their noses. This is the best book in the series, in which a prince who thinks he's a poor boy meets a fire witch. Together, they explore the Enchanted Forest, a strange and magical place. I recommend this to anyone, fantasy lover or not.
Rating: Summary: A novel that ties up all the unanswered questions. Review: Finally the suspense builder of CALLING ON DRAGONS is remedied with a sequel! This one relieves the pressure of not knowing what happened to Mendanbar not to mention Cimorene. But what about the baby?! This novel focusses on their baby who has grown up and is sent to find his father. Along the way, Daystar meets some interesting friends who help him in his task. The only thing his mother tells him is to be polite to dragons.
Rating: Summary: Most hillorous of the whole series! Review: The book is a continuation of what happens to Cimorene's son Daystar. The book has a wonderful twist. Cimorene is now living at the edge of the Enchanted Forest. When Daystar turns sixteen Cimorene sends him into the Enchanted Forest with his father's sword without telling why. Daystar runs into many new and old aquantencis. Shiara, who is a fire witch, is the really funny part of the twist. She is very quick temperd and does not enjoy being polite, which is very important in the Encahnted forest because rudeness to anything, even to a bush can be dangerous. Daystar run into more people including: Morwen, Telimain, and a stupid, overdramatic, princess. I agreed with one of the reviewers about Daystars affection toward Shiara almost didn't exist. I guess Cimorene was assuming Daystar was in love with Shiara from the story when she was a stone. (I was also the one who wrote on a review, I llloooovveed the book).
Rating: Summary: Enchantingly Written Review: This series of book by Wrede, is a wonderful masterpeice that I am quite sure you will love for years to come. Wrede writes her books so well, that I have read practically every book that she has written. Her books are like food to a starving peasant. If you read this series, you will be norished forever with the memories of her capivating characters. I would recomend this series to anyone, no matter how young or old you may be. This is a must read series!
Rating: Summary: A clever trick Review: At the risk of giving away my age, isn't this the same book that was published in 1985? That could explain some of the discrepancies between this story and the ones that "precede" it. If it is the same, Patricia Wrede has done a great job of weaving it into the rest of the series. In fact, it's because I enjoyed this book so much that I read the others. I also recommend the author's collaboration "Sorcery and Cecelia".
Rating: Summary: I looooveeed it! Its my favroite book through out series. Review: I loved the book. The fire witch, Shiara was a good twist to the story becuase she kept on bringing up more trouble in the Enchanted Forest because of her rudess and quick temper. Daystar was a perfect main charecter becuase he was polite, thoughtfull, nieve and stays out of trouble like his father...exactly the opposite of Shiara which makes it funny. They meet up with charecters we've met with before. Like Morwen and Teliman. (Oh and of course Antorell).
Rating: Summary: Extremely interesting, could hardly put it down Review: This book was very good. You have to have read all of the other books in the series, but I would say that it is the best of all of them. It is about how Cimorene's son, Daystar had to discover how to save his father. The only thing is that nobody told him what he was supposed to do, so he and this girl he saves discover it on their own. I won't tell the end because you have got to read it yourself.
Rating: Summary: It's not the best work she's done. Review: It was a good book, but some parts just plain didn't make sense to me. I read a lot so that doesn't happen to me much. For instance: Cimorene said Kazul wouldn't mind training the future queen of the Enchanted Forest. Was she betrothing them then and there? Or was she simply assuming that they were in love because that was how it came about for her and Mendanbar? True at the end of the book Daystar showed the slightest glimmering of affection toward Shiara, but that showed thourgh no where else except when he saved her from being a statue for the rest of her life. And when she broke arm. And Cimorene wasn't there for those events . Maybe it was just a mother's intuition.
Rating: Summary: MASTERLY WRITTEN Review: It all began long ago when Daystar's mother Cimerone, runs away from her family.
Since then A murder of the king of Dragons, Marrying of Cimerone to King of the Enchanted Forest, and now the arrival of Prince Daystar will keep you laughing till you can't see straight.
In this book it starts with the wonderful wizard Anteroll being melted, and from there on in it is a roller coaster ride. Meeting a few unexpected people, animals ,creatures, and blobs in the enchanted forest.
Over all I think Patricia C. Wrede is an execellent author for young adults. It is a pity her books are not more popular!!!
