Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: The last chapter of this book is so very well written. I couldn't believe the ending. Jude Watson should write a pre-episode I book for us grown ups. Please hurry and get #6 in stock!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Star Wars Fiction for kids and adults Review: The entire Jedi Apprentice series works on two levels. For adults, the themes and characters are intriguing. There is enough action in the plotting to keep the intended audience of kids enthralled. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are very real and complicated people in this wonderful series. And JA #5 is the very best so far, with a cliffhanger ending with an enormous emotional impact. I can't wait for January!
Rating: Summary: Master and Apprentice Review: Qui Gon and Obi Wan. Ahhh, at last the truth about these two! And it's about time. . . Finally you can see what's really going on; how romantic, they are falling in love <sigh> The Master and his beloved Padawan. Check out the cliffhanger, you'll see for yourself. Bravo!
Rating: Summary: A Worthy Addition Review: I'm almost 26 and I eagerly await each new edition. I read Defenders of the Dead last night and loved it as much as the previous books. The growing tension between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon,as well as the suspense of waiting to see what Obi-Wan would ultimately decide kept the pages turning. I love Obi-Wan but while reading this book I found myself almost totally on Qui-Gon's side. After I finished the book I found myself wondering how Obi-Wan could do that to Qui-Gon. I have to admit to being a little disappointed at seeing their relationship apparently take a step back in this book. I can't wait to find out how all of this will be resolved.
Rating: Summary: This 32 year old carries her Scholastic book in public Review: Wow! I have enjoyed the whole Jedi Apprentice series so far. I don't care that the book is rated for ages 9-12 and that I read it in an hour, it kept me on the edge of my seat to the end. This insight to Qui-Gon's and Obi-Wan's past, and the development of their relationship, has been a wonderful journey. The story portrays a human side of these characters that I appreciate and struggles I can believe. When I finished "The Defenders of the Dead", all I could think was "I can't wait to see how the story unfolds". The only argument I had about this book was who got to read it first, me or my son. Good show dear Watson!
Rating: Summary: Best of the Series! Review: I am glad to see from the other reviews that I'm not the only adult who enjoys these books! This series gives the reader a great understanding of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's developing relationship. At the ending of DOTD, this relationship looks pretty rocky but it will be interesting to find out how the two of them patch things up. This was a very exciting story with a great cliffhanger ending. I just wish #6 was being published a little earlier!
Rating: Summary: Keep 'em coming Review: This series has been just great! My son (8yrs) was not interested in reading until he got ahold of these books. His favorite characters, favorite settings, everything holds his interest. We can't seem to wait for the next one, I'm even reading them as soon as he's done. Wonderful!
Rating: Summary: To be continued! Aaaaarrrrrrrgggghhhhh! Review: This was by far the best Jedi Apprentice yet. Obi-Wan's conflict of emotions was completely realistic - even down to the last page I wasn't sure what he would do. I am also pretty far outside the target age range (I'm 28), but I find these books well-written and informative. I love learning the background info on the Jedi Order as a whole, not to mention my two favorite knights. Plus they make a fun, easy read after a stressful day. I can't wait for more!
Rating: Summary: THE BEST JEDI APPRENTICE BOOK YET!!!! Review: One word summarizes this book-WOW! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. You'd never expect Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to split, especially since Obi-Wan wanted to be his Padawan so badly. I know they'll get back together (eventually!) because they are both in Episode I, but I can't wait until the next book is released. This is definitely a must read for Star Wars fans everywhere. P.S. I'm fifteen.
Rating: Summary: Watson does it again! Review: Time to enter my review of the latest book in the Jedi Apprentice series... which despite its youthful target audience has proven to contain some of the best written Star Wars fiction for ANY age. In DEFENDERS OF THE DEAD Watson carefully creates rising tension between our two favorite protagonists, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, ending the book with a cliff hanger which is sure to entice readers back for the next installment. I was intrigued to discover this book raised the issue of the Jedi Orders need to maintain an objective viewpoint verses the Knights desires to seek justice in the face of obvious atrocities... it is not an easy tighrope to walk, and Watson skillfully uses this uneasy balance to explore the psychological make-up and depth of commitment of her main characters. Oddly enough, it is Obi-Wan who seems more in touch with the "living force" in this book, following his heart despite the high cost to his relationship with Qui-Gon. Unfortuantely, being that DOTD is a large type, brief young person's book, this feast of fiction only lasted me a few hours. I am truly glad that there are well written novels available for young Star Wars fans, but I do wish this series was available in a longer, more detailed adult version. Still, I can't give it any less that five stars for being yet another excellent addition to this ongoing series. Three cheers for Jude Watson!
