Rating: Summary: Fantasy to survive with Review: A book which draws you in and holds you there. You don't just understand, you ARE the characters. The style is the in the ancient folktale style, which is fitting for the characterization. I was fourteen when I first read this book, and since then it has become my "teddy bear" book, brought with me everywere. It gives you a way out of your mundane reality.
Rating: Summary: So Sweet and Simple Review: For years I'd seen this book in the shelves of the public library, but I'd never given it more than a glance. But just recently I was browsing the shelves, after having found what I was looking for, and chanced upon Child of Faerie, Child of Earth. I read the inside cover for probably the 5th time in the past 3 years, thinking maybe I ought to read it, and see if it was any good.So I checked it out, brought it home, and began to read... and I couldn't put it down! The story is so simple, and yet so enthralling all at once. I immediately liked Percinet, the green-eyed elf with a sweet sense of humor and such persistence. Me being the addictive reader that I am, finished the book in a day. I loved it not as one loves a flowering orchid awash in dew, but as one sees a white daisy in a field, and loves it for its simplicity and purity. If ever I am in a bad mood, I shall pick up this book and read my worries away. I recommend it to any avid reader, any hopeless romantic, any believer of Faeries, any lover of adventures, any magically talented soul, anyone who enjoys a story, pure and lovely. Any reader, any age, will love this book. I did. Even as I was in the midst of A Clockwork Orange, Julius Caesar, and so many dark and serious and sorrowful books, Child of Faerie, Child of Earth was my beam of hopeful light, my life-saving beacon. It is a book like no other.

Rating: Summary: Touchy with Religion, but Magically Delicious Review: I think I prefer fantasy books that leave religion out altogether, rather than sticking it in there and making the religious people the badguys. In Disney's "The Hunchback..", the badguy was religious, but they also had the kind priest, and Esmeralda's song-prayer (God Help the Outcasts) and reverence for Notre Dame and there was a general theme of deep religious turmoil running through it. For "Child of Fairie, Child of Earth," I'm somewhat distressed by the only representative of the church (a Catholic priest) being a rude, high-and-mighty, blowhard who tells Graciosa that magic is evil, thereby causing a conflict in her own heart because of her love of Percinet and the world of Fairie. It's an inescapable problem for the protagonist, and she has no choice but to give in and follow her heart. This, I believe, is wrong of the author. If anything, I believe a more sincere, sympathetic priest would have caught our sympathies for Graciosa's not wishing to go against her religious upbringing and love Percinet and his world of magic, thereby upsetting an adult figure that she admired and adored -- instead of making us cheer her timid rebellion against the overpowering jerk that is her father's priest. Good magic vs bad magic is fine, but Good magic vs bad religion is somewhat of a touchier point for myself, and possibly many other people. As a book, though, minus that one disturbing point, it is well-written and charming. The romance is beautiful and Graciosa's jealousy in one scene is wonderful. Fairie seemed a bit too bright for my eyes, at times, but the emotions, when the couple had a spat or were in trouble, were lovely. I recommend it being read at least once.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the best books that I've ever read! Review: It's hard to find a book that you'll read over and over again. This book is one. I have checked it out from the public library at least nine times and I never get tired of it. It's similar in plot to several fairy tales but it adds a whole new touch. I think that anybody who likes adventure love stories will love this book. I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful romance! Review: This book has soooo many sweet stuff in it. I love when Percinet tells Garciosa how he first saw her. I thought it was clever that Josepha Sherman thought up a good romance for this book about a Faerie prince in love with a human girl who is strong about her beleifs. I really love this book!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Story Review: This book is wonderful. The storyline of this book is simple, but this attribute only improves the beauty. It is pure and sweet. I found myself reading this book over and over. When my family moved to a new place and I could not find this book, I searched until I found a copy I could buy. I would recomend this book to anyone. It is a timeless classic.

Rating: Summary: The best book Review: This is the greatest book, even if your not into mystical fantasy the romance and action is great.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Story Review: This story was wonderful, I only wish I had gotten a copy of my own! It is a great spin off of the Greek tale of Cupid and Psyche. This is one of my favorite stories ever.
