Summary: first of a series, last for me (spoiler included)
Review: Pretty bad. Readable, if you like poor cheesy fantasy novels or are stuck on a plane or in an airport, but poorly edited. Plotting fair, but lots of the writing really should have been cleaned up. Felt like a first draft. Whole pages of bad dialog and some entire characters should have been deleted. I kept thinking I must have missed things, or that maybe this was the second in a series, but then realized that the woman has no idea how to deal with a flashback. It's like she got halfway through her first draft and then realized that she forgot to put in the cryptic first appearance of many of her characters and, instead of actually doing the work and going back and writing them in, just had minor characters "remember" them. Here's a spoiler: the half-wit hermit who is written like a pantomime clown turns out to be the rightful heir of the western kingdom - he just seemed dim because he was speaking a second language he hadn't mastered. Having been a language teacher living abroad and experienced this situation myself, from both perspectives, I can tell you that is just hooey. First of many in a series, as usual. Last for me.

Summary: Just need to clear things up
Review: Rache believed that he was the last of his kind. A race of undefeatable swordsmen who kill on average of six enemies for everyone one of there kin slain. As the last of his kind Rache does have the right to teach his skill to others. But who?

His chocies are twofold

A psychotic gladiator that hates his guts
Or the daughter of the local lord

Before this becomes a problem Rache life changes for the wrost. Rumors begin to grow of a war of wizards and Rache hears stories that he may not be the last of his kind after all.

My impression-I have always been a sucker for these vast sweeping epics. My fasination began with the 13th Warrior. This is a great serise, if you can get through the dull part but the book always heats up agian.

Summary: A Start to a Great Series
Review: Reichert sure knows how to begin a story. From the beginning to the end it is a great cliff hanger. But at the end you don't expect for the person who died will die. I can't wait to finish the series.

Summary: Engrossing
Review: Since the overwhelming response of fire-star tirads have more than compensated for the poor lone critic, I shall endeavor to think of something else to say. For much as I admire the critic's courage, I have to disagree. Strongly. This book was almost the destruction of my 2nd quarter grades, since with it and the sequal I didn't really accomplish _any_ schoolwork for at least a week. I haven't been so engrossed since "Wizard's First Rule," and in my opinion these characters are more real, dear, and ultimately heroic than Goodkind's. Though I feel Matrinka's backbone was made of wet noodle, the other strong characterizations in the book more than made up for it. The character's weaknesses made them more heroic, not less, because they were heroes in spite of their flaws. I have no doubt that I shall read this book again, and I anxiously await the paperback of number three.

Summary: A Science Fantasy Must Read!
Review: The Last of the Renshai is not only an excellent Science Fantasy book, but it is one of THE best books I have readin my entire life. Micky Zucker Reichert's writing talents astound me, and the books following this are every bit as good. I will probably cry when she stops writing about the Renshai :)

Summary: Rave Reviews and may she find her place in Valhalla!
Review: The Renshai books, both trilogies, are some of the best fantasy books I have ever read.

The author creates characters that are not only memorable, but normal enough that the reader can relate. The plot is complex, in the traditions of Tolkien and others...the badguys...I wanted to kill the bad guys myself. They were truly evil!

The second trilogy is a masterpiece of its own right.

In a nutshell, the fictional world of these books is based on Nordic mythology. Odin, Thor, Loki, and others all have a hand in the Renshai books.

The world itself is a mix...but primarily consists of glorified Nordic people...romanticized...but done extremely well.

There is plenty of action, sword play, and violence to balance out the complex storyline...unlike other fantasy authors, she does not go too far in one direction or the other.

Ma'am...write MORE Renshai books!

Summary: Too good to be true
Review: These books take you in to a world with no escape, and why escape? Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Summary: One of the best trilogies that I have read.
Review: This book draws you into a world of magic and honor and leaves you powerless to escape. Not that you would want to. This first book of an excellent trilogy introduces characters that you will consider friends. Supplies conflict and contact. You will not want to put this one down. Oh and don't forget the Renshai Chronicles that follow this series up.
