Rating: Summary: A dazzling mix of human emotion, and action... Review: In my opinion, The Demon Apostle is the greatest installment in the first part of the DW. The fights are soaring in the dazziling department. But this book, although filled with battles, is deeper, the mix of emotion and rage, love and care, captured my heart as I consumed every word into thought. Another amazing thing is how Salvatore does his charecters, having several new charecters added, all of them are well built, knowing each of them as you knew yourself. This is, by far, a must read.
Rating: Summary: Heartfelt and depressing; very humanistic Review: In this final act of a three act play, Salvatore uses every ability at his disposal to see to the continuation of this line of books. Without revealing the ending of the trilogy, suffice it to say that the ending is very much like the beginning. A theme that runs through this work is that of true love /vs hedonism. When the two main characters fall into the roles of romance, there is a definitive moral message. (Hey, I guess Bob realizes he has kids who might someday read his work - if not currently.) This book is successful not because of how it ends but how the characters grow and change. Pony is definiately given more emphasis in this work (as she was in the previous one) as the character of Elbryan fades from sight. It might be said that this is a role reversal from earlier Drizzt/Catti'brie, whereas Catt became less significant (by the time -Passage To Dawn- was released.) This novel is worthy to be read without the accompanying two, but it is worth comparing against the other writings of Salvatore (outside of the DemonWars.)
Rating: Summary: A Fantastic Finish in a Fantastic Series! Review: Once again the fertile imagination of R.A. Salvatore pushes the boundaries of fantasy to the breaking point. With characters that are so alive and a world that is so vivid, RAS grabs the reader by the imagination and takes them on a wonderous ride. The Demon Apostle finishes off the first Demon Wars Trilogy in grand fashion. Action, Love, Philosopy, and Political Intrigue make up what I believe to be RAS's best yet. The Demon Apostle caps off this first Demon Wars Series beatifully and opens a door to many more books set in the mystical world of gemstone magic. What struck me most about The Demon Apostle was RAS's ability to explore the human condition. He takes the reader on a such rollercoaster ride of Love, Hate, Rage and Sadness that this reader just can't wait to see what he has in store for us next! Also in the end there isn't the clear cut winner that is so often found in fantasy books today, which makes the book even more intriguing. It makes you sit back and decide...Who made out better in the end? Did the means justify the end? Who was right? RAS's portrayl of a fanatical Church is just too scary in the fact that it could (and has) happened. This aspect just adds a new dimension to RAS's writing and makes Corona an even more exciting place to visit. So if you are in the mood for true epic fantasy, grab onto R.A. Salvatore's coat-tails and hold on, because who knows where he's gonna stop!
Rating: Summary: Excellent book..... but what about the ending?? Review: Once again, RA Salvatore has written another great trilogy!! The final book of the Demon Wars Trilogy had all the characters show who they truly are. Salvatore is great about writing about characters you come to love and enjoy. The only drawback I had about this book is the ending. I won't tell you what happens but its not the "usual" Salvatore ending. It seem to me that he was pushed for time to publish this book and threw together an ending. Its only an opinion but overall the Demon Apostle was excellent along with the Trilogy. Keep the books coming Bob!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Demon Apostle: Salvatore's best yet Review: R. A. Salvatore continues to rock the world of fantasy. Demon Apostle, the latest in the Demon Wars Series is the best work Mr. Salvatore has done. It has tremendous character development, a plot that keeps you guessing, and of course, Salvatore's amazing fighting scenes. Follow Elbryan, Pony, Juraviel, Bardwarden, Roger, and all the others in the final battle against the misguided Abellican Church. The end is a battle to remember. This book is well worth the read, and more than worth the price. Applause to Del Ray for giving Mr. Salvatore the freedom to create his own world. This book should be in any fantasy fan's library. I look forward to the up coming books in Corona. And if you haven't already, pick up The Demon Awakens, and The Demon Spirit; the first two books in this series. All masterfully crafted works of fantasy.
Rating: Summary: A Horrible Ending from a Fantastic Author Review: R.A. built a wonderful world for us in The Demon Awakens and The Demon Spirit, then apparently decided to completely destroy it in this book. The whole story got to be one big mess, and the characters' personalities all diminished. ................. R.A. also left us at the end ..... for a continuation series, ............... Stop reading after The Demon Spirit, and you'll have spent your time more wisely.
Rating: Summary: A masterpiece Review: R.A. Salvatore does it again great storyline that keeps U occupied for the next hours and days a homerunner this one.
Rating: Summary: and no one lived happily ever after... Review: Salvatore is brilliant in this trilogy for 2-3/4 of this 3 book series. Vibrant and believable characters that make you wish you were in the adventure with them. His writing style merits 5 stars. His extremely disappointing ending to this trilogy merits no stars. An author has license to kill off any and all characters, so I am willing to grudgingly allow the demise of 1 of the main players. However, his cheap Hollywood "B-movie" interpretation of what happens to the child with the elves, was a tough pill to swallow. Furthermore, if Pony is trained in the elven arts and dance, wouldn't it make sense for her to carry on as the new ranger of the Timberlands? Plus she'd be near her child, AND the elves. I agree with many other readers when they say they felt Salvatore rushed the ending. Maybe he had some "Star Trek" books he had to get cracking on. Too bad. He's an exemplary author that intrigued me through the "Crimson Shadow" series; and through most of this trilogy.
Rating: Summary: This book will intriuge you and leave you begging for more Review: Salvatore once again lives up to his name. This book kept me enthralled from page one. I couldn't put it down, I found myself up well into the night telling myself "Just one more chapter". The only downside to the book I feel was thae ending. When I finished the book I started to search for more pages. This could not be the conclusion to this story, there is to much left unfinished. I await the next, for there has to be another, book in the series and hope that I don't have to wait long.
Rating: Summary: Loved it till the end Review: The book was beyond well written don't get me wrong, but I think that the end is incredibally weak. I sat up till late reading this because as always Salvatore's writings entrap me, but when I finnished the book I found myself depressed. The end just lost every bit of hype that Salvatore has built up until then. I just don't get it... Markwart realizes he's wrong because she pushed him back? that is so weak. I can't say anymore but the next part after that is just too weak, and the way he leads up to another one make me never want to buy another book from this series. He could have done a lot better. The end is just too depressing. It should be retitlied Demon Wins. because it doesn't seem like the good does.
