Rating: Summary: Good and bad :( Review: A very good book, or at least a very good 400 of 455 pages... greatest book ever if you ripped out the last few pages and came up with your own ending... I give a warning, if you happen to be suicidal and are going to read this book, I highly recommend you stay away! If a sequel is produced I think I will await my best friend's review before picking it up off the shelf...
Rating: Summary: [CAUTION SPOILER] Satisfying End to First Demon War Saga Review: After concluding the Demon Spirit ran out and quickly picked up this book as I had to know what happened next. Although this book is a satisfying conclusion to the First Demon War Saga, I found parts of the book slow going. I really began to miss run ins with goblins and powries and other sorts of evil doing cretures (there is an amazing battle scene 3/4 of the way into the book between Elbryan and evil doing creatures). The back and forth between the monks and king and elves got to be a little repititive, but since this book closed up a lot of open issues from earlier books I continued to read on. When Elbryan died I thought I would scream. I must say I was pleasantly shocked that Salvatore took the risk and killed off the main character in the book. These books are not battle driven like Salvatore's Drizzt books; however, I beleive you will enjoy if you open your mind and allow yourself to enter the new world of Corona.
Rating: Summary: This is a Great Book!! Review: An excellent book, this is definately a page turner, I could not put it down! The descriptions on the surrounding, characters, and all the emotions, etc. etc. are very descrptive. And all the events begin to unfold, and then begin to come together in a climax worthy of the final chapter in this most harrowing saga. I give it 2 thumbs way, way up... And the ending was one not expected. But Salvatore, an excellent trilogy, and I reccomend this trilogy to everyone!!
Rating: Summary: Elbryan dies Review: Elbryan dies. he couldnt kill off pony. he already killed avelyn in the first book, and now he has to off the only good character left. leaving pony, who bitches through the whole next book. i know main characters need to die, but why elbryan? he was almost as cool as drizzt and artemis.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: Go out and buy this book it is well worth the time it takes to read it. One of R. A. Salvatore's best.
Rating: Summary: A strong conclusion to the Demonwars Trilogy Review: I actually read the Demon Apostle quite some time ago, but never got around to reviewing it until now. So... To start with, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and consider it to be the best of the series. There are a number of reasons but my main one is this; for once, the fight scenes were not in excess. I like them, don't get me wrong. But sometimes I wonder if I would miss anything if I skipped over most of them. (Well, I would miss about 1/4 of each of the previous books, but little in the way of plot) Now, all that said. This book changed all of this. The fights were there, but only when necessary. This book concentrated a lot more on the parts that I felt made the previous books good. Specifically, the politics and intrigue of the Abellican Church. There's nothing quite like a crisis of faith to make one appreciate that faith even more. One of the biggest changes in this series as opposed to earlier ones is the fact that characters aren't invincible. Even main ones. Though I won't get into any more detail than that, I will say that I really appreciate it. A part of good storytelling is making your characters mortal. Over all, this was an excellent book. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. (Thus far, only Tolkien gets 5) Cheers,
Rating: Summary: After the first two, I expected more... Review: I am a HUGE Dark Elf fan. Mr. Salvatore has incredible talent writing vivid combat scenes and fleshing out the characters to make them seem almost real. Otherwise, we wouldn't care so much about Drizzt and his friends. Trilogies are always fun, as they let you become attached to a character, or group of characters. While this was one of this series' greatest strengths, it was also one of its most painful weaknesses. I won't spoil it for you, but I will say this: anyone who loves a happy ending will be sorely disappointed. The writing is excellent, the plot classic good versus evil, and the ending makes you groan. A LOT. While I can understand the need for just a little strife at the end of a trilogy to make room for more, I dislike watching characters I've grown attached to die. But then, this is only my personal opinion and preference. The books really are well written, and anyone who likes to see overly stuffed shirts get just a little deflated will have fun.
Rating: Summary: Never has a book evoked so much emotion in me... Review: I anxiously read this series and thought it was fantastic. The Demon apostle continues the story of our beloved heroes. More wonderfully scripted battle scenes, more character immersion, more of the same ole grand stuff. I could'nt put this darn book down! The climax was suspensefull if not disheartening. Angry, sad, upset, confused,.. the ending brought out all of these emotions and then some....but when was the last time a book did that to you. It just goes to show how damn immersed you get in R.A.'s characters! BRAVO!
Rating: Summary: This book was a LETDOWN!!! Review: I cannot believe that I actually *reserved* a copy of this book. The writing is weak, the plot is beyond bad and it seems that the author was more interested in justifying the authoring of another trilogy after this one. Even the ending was botched!
Rating: Summary: Better than Drizzt? Review: I found this book awe inspiring, for any true fan of Salvatore's this is a must read and if you are just a fantasy fan you can't go far wrong with this master piece. The book folows many twists and turns from hope to dispair and back again taking the reader along for the ride. The book lacks nothing and wets your appetite for the next adventure. Salvatore has shown us that he still has the ability to write a great adventure after doubts sprung from the continuation of the legendary Drizzt saga which is beginning to spiral out of control. The book follows a well structured path which leaves the reader spending countless hours turning page after page with no realisation of time. I would recommend this book to anyone and would challenge the opinion of anyone who doubted its originality.
