Summary: Somewhat dated, decent story
Review: This isn't the best Heinlein I have read (although I have only read about four or five of his works thus far) but this novel reeks of its age. Heinlein, understandably, could only be so correct in his prediction of the future, but the attitudes between people seemed right out of the 1940s or 50s (when the novel was originally written). If you like Heinlein, it's worth reading, but I have read better.

Summary: good story, but I didn't like the style
Review: This novel is one of the classics but I didn't find it as enjoyable as I thought I would. The story is relatively simple. A flying saucer full of aliens from one of saturn's moons lands in Iowa and proceeds to take over the population. These aliens are slug like creatures who attach themselves to humans taking over their bodies. They quickly multiply and threaten to take over the world. Getting rid of them is tricky because killing one while they are attached to a human will kill the human as well.
The story's setting is in the 21st century. I found it comical how the author depicted the technology of today back then. Also, the dialogue seems awfully simplistic and I wasn't all that satisfied with how the author explained the creatures and how the scientists analyzed them.
The story was fun, but not nearly as engaging as some of the Star Trek novels I've read.

Summary: Puppet Masters
Review: This was only the second Sci-Fi book that I had read, and I loved it. The plot flowed, it was interesting and extremely well written. The book quickly picked up and wrapped up sufficiently, leaving no open ends. The characters were well-developed and thought provoking. This book is one of the best books I have ever read and I look forward to reading more Heinlein.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This was the first Heinlein novel I read. It made such an impression on me that since then I have collected all of his books, short stories, etc. Actually, the last one is on the way - Thanks Amazon.The characters are interesting, and the storyline is vastly entertaining. If you've read "Gulf" or Friday, then you'll be happy to know that Kettle Belly Baldwin makes another appearance. Definitely read the book. Also try your luck at seeing the movie (it's out of print) starring Donald Sutherland. It was pretty good. Not as good as the book, but when is a movie ever as good as the book?
