Rating: Summary: What a joke... Review: This is the worst book I've ever read. After I read it i wanted to put it in the toilet and go to the bathroom on it. This book has no plot, characters with no originality, and the battle descriptions that I've always relied on Salvatore to write with such quality were nonexistent in this book. This was a pathetic excuse of literature. Salvatore was trying to write about little childrens' fantasies that have to do with a purple toad jumping onto a green lillipad with a fork on it. Does that make sense? Of course not!!!! Neither does this book. Salvatore let off a stinkbomb when he wrote this. Salvatore didn't include anything about himself even though he said this was his autobiography. What is Salvatore now an imaginary person named Elbryan. I think he's too far in his own dreams and is living in a fantasy world. The book Everyone Poops had more quality than this. If you bought this your blind to what makes a book worth reading. May purple elephants fly high forever!!!!
Rating: Summary: A New Realm of excitement ! Review: I thought the book pushed aside the standard Fantasy ideas of Hero/Heroine Novels. It gave a more realistic view to the reader. It showed that the characters were thought out and didn't have the right answer for everything. I am looking forward to the future events of Elbryan and Pony !!
Rating: Summary: Bob has done it again!! Review: Although the book was almost like reading a Drizzt-like novel, you have to give it to Bob for creating a suck-you-in-the-story type novel!Like his dark-elf predesessor, the main charachter is also a butt-kicking expert swordsman!Cross that with a brawling friar,a beatiful but deadly warrior-woman,a brilliant stallion,and(oh,man...pat on the back,Bob!)a centaur...with an attitude!A definate classic!A true fantasy lovers delight!Oh,and Bob,if you keep writing them,I'll keep buying them! You truely are the greatest fantasy novelist!!!!And I am your greatest fan!!!
Rating: Summary: Not Original? Review: Ok, so while this book has all the regular aspects (the guy, the girl, the animal, the demon), I think that it is FAR from unoriginal. Have you ever read about magical gemstones that rain down on an island? Those of you who complain about the sailors urges and Pony having three names- The sailors urges were just to make it realistic, and not described. Pony having three names was an important and believable part of the story! If you had amnesia would you pick your original name out of nowhere? This is a GOOD book, and a very, very fun read. My suggestion to you--READ IT.
Rating: Summary: Opening up a whole new world brings much imagination. Review: Ive read pretty much every book that Salvatore has written, and sure I loved Drizzt Do'Urden and the dark elf trilogies, but opening up a whole new world with new characters is just as thrilling. For those of you without a lack of imagination and are just interested in reading about Drizzt i suggest you write your own books about him. This new addition to Salvatore's collection is fantastic.
Rating: Summary: A very good book, spiced with sex and sword-fighting Review: As many people already said, this is a Drizzt-like book. On the other hand, if you are used to AD&D characters, you'll get a shock: the elves fly, the dwarves are evil, there is almost no wizard magic and priest magic is done using precious stones. I think this book has a little too much sex for a kid, so I recomend it for older people. Again, this is a depart from the good old stories, where nobody even think of sex or bath. All in all, it's a different book worth reading.
Rating: Summary: R.A. Salvatore creates an entirely new world! Review: First off, if you lack any imagination and depth, you will dislike this book. All of the not-so-good reviews have been from people who have a hard time reading children's novels. Salvatore creates an entirely new world from his imagination and the characters are created with skillful writing. As usual the battles and fights are so descriptive, you swear they happened right in front of you! The subplots beneath the main really kept things interesting. A definite choice for any die hard fan of REAL fantasy adventure writing!
Rating: Summary: Skip this one, please. Review: I bought this book as an autographed copy. What a find! I had thought. After reading it, I returned it back to the store I'd bought it from. It took all my self-control not to throw the book against the wall before returning it. I cannot begin to list the problems with this book. An incoherent, meandering plot with lackluster characters and a villain that's almost too silly to believe, is a start. Do I really need to know how sailors satisfy their carnal urges while on long trips? Does anyone really understand why the heroine--and I use the term lightly--has three different names in the story? And why did the elves treat Elbryan like a slave and not a friend, if he's supposed to be some sort of savior? I heartily urge those who haven't read it; please don't. I'm glad some of those who posted their reviews liked it, but there are better books to read than this one.
Rating: Summary: It was an Epic novel. Review: A young man, a young woman, and a young monk, go through thier lives apart and re-unite later in the story and oddly it all fits together. I think Salvator Really put his head into this one. It has the perfect combination of Elf and Ranger together with a cliff-hanger for an ending. Salvator did a great job on it.
Rating: Summary: SOMEWHAT THE SAME.... Review: Well now, I can honestly say that Salvatore is a very good writer. This book was what he's known for, but I was expecting alittle less Drizzt here. This is the only reason that I didn't give it five stars. The story is exceptional, I love the fighting monk school and Avelyn was a strong supporting character. I didn't expect him to die in the end, but who knows that he's really dead. Bradwarden was another good supporting character and I didn't expect him to die either, but who knows what the rest of the plot will bring. If we have characters like these that pass away in the beginning of the series, then what other characters are in store for us to find. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and am even eager to read the silent blade due out in just a few short months. Until Entreri joins the circus, long live Salvatore....
