Rating: Summary: Stunning Review: This book was amazing. Like all of Gemmell's books it takes the typical high fantasy story and the typical hero, and he makes you beleive in them. He tackles the tough issues from numerous angles, and fills his world with people you know. He plays in the grey area's of morality, while still making people who beleive in black and white. honestly, I have never read any author that so captures the way humanity thinks. he is the best.
Rating: Summary: Top stuff this book is! Review: This is about the best book I've read in years. It is great! I couldn't keep my nose out of it!
Rating: Summary: Another Strong book from Gemmell Review: This isn't the best book Gemmell has written but it is a much better book than 90% of other books that see print. Although this book is not set in any of the places previously explored in his other books, this one has similarities with them, ie. the source, etc. and has many of the same themes. This book wasn't as powerful, philisophical, or as insightful as his previous books (Drenai saga, etc.) but it is a welcome addition to my Gemmell collection. 4 out of five stars. I only wish his books were published quicker in the States. In fact, there are still some books of his that are out in the UK that haven't made it here yet. Grrrr Need more Gemmell!

Rating: Summary: Could have been a great Gemmell book.. Review: Well, by far I am not a avid reader of Gemmell's work, have only read the Lion of Macedon, and Morningstar (drenai novel).. When I finished this book, I was not satisfied. Primarly my complaint with this book is the characters. He could have flushed them out much more, made them more real. Instead, he just touches the surface of them. I also felt, that at times, he just made a two paragraph tragic history for the odd character, and that was all that was needed for us to be happy. Nope, not for me. I think he should have spent more time on the characters. It could have been a great book, but, alas, it was nt..:(
Rating: Summary: WOW. his best so far...kinda. its damn hard to choose... Review: Yeouch. This book grabbed me by a certain part of my anatomy that no man should be grabbed by, and wouldnt let go. The story is new (drenai getting a bit repetitive) and the characters are great. his first schizoid character works a treat, and the action is faster than ever. in addition, it has the wonderful type of ending i have come to expect from david, and a great moral weight to it. as i said, WOW.
