Summary: So-so, could be worse
Review: Sure there are worse books in the fantasy genre. This one ranks square in the middle. What's with all the 5 star reviews? haven't these people read Tolkien? Stephen Donaldson? Anne Mccaffrey? Mists of Avalon? Wouldn't even those who enjoyed this book give it a 3-4 because Tolkien is a true 5 star? This book has a real pulp feel, lots happens but I found myself not caring about it much because the characters were not interesting nor was the world, etc. Good thing I didn't buy it!

Summary: the story of the blood diary
Review: The third book of the banned and the banished series picks up where we left off in book two. Again, the action is almost non-stop, cover to cover. Enough plot twists are thrown in to keep the story engaging.

But with this third book a pattern has emerged. Small skirmishes with evil beings throughout the first half all leading up to the larger battle of the novel which climaxes at the end and leads us to the next book. It's getting a bit formulaic to read, although I breezed through this installment as easily as I did the first two.

Some of the plot twists seem ingenious and others seem trite and predictable. Once again we are introduced to more characters, some good, some bad. Some bad characters in previous novels end up being good, and some good characters end up being bad. I'm looking forward to the next novel in the series if for no other reason than to see how it all comes together.

Our heros are split into two groups during the course of this novel and I'm curious about the paths they will take. We are also given more pieces to the puzzle of the Dark Lord and a more complete image is slowly being revealed.

I'm still caught up in the story, with Clemens doing an excellent job of keeping my interest and attention despite the odd faltering of overwhelming cliches or characters dying and being resurrected.

I have the last two of the series in my library and look forward to finishing them.

Summary: Wit'ch Fire, Wit'ch Storm, Wit'ch War, and James Clemens
Review: This Book was excelent. I loved All three of them! When James Clemens wrote and published these books so that people could read them, he was also allowing people to read his soul. When you read something that someone has written you learn how that person thinks or how they don't think. For example if some of the characters in the book have bad tempers and in the story the main character is always annoyed with them then you might get the idea that the author doesn't like people with tempers. I enjoyed the way he wrote it. he gave his apinion in every way and it made it great!

Summary: Dark and Lavish!
Review: This series is tied with Martin's Song of Fire and Ice as my favorite! Clemens once again puts us under his spell as Elena and her allies take their fight for freedom to the dark forces themselves in pages and pages of bloody battles, narrow escapes and plot twists.Clemens's Alansea is a masterpiece of world-building as you go further in history of this war-torn land. The cinematic quality of this series atonishes me as Clemens gives you descriptions of battles on the sea and land, magic both awesome and terrifying and the sinister atmosphere of A'loa Glen as they seek thr blood diary held by evil Shorkan!Unforgettable fantasy saga! Don't Miss it!

Summary: ??? STILL A GREAT BOOK BUT... ???
Review: This was a completely awesome book, although I have to say that I still don't much like the fact that Elena, umm, has a growth spurt, or so you might say. Some people like things turning into love stories, but I prefer the aweet and innocent young girl. Anyway, it was still very well written, and it had a lot of action in it. I'm glad the ending wasn't just another, "Oh, Yay, I beat the darklord, now we can all go home and live happily ever after," because to tell you the truth, those get old pretty fast when you've read about 200 of them! Well, I'm really looking forward to the fourth book!! By the way, I'm sorry if I spoiled anything! I hate it when I do that, that's why I don't describe what the book is about. I guess just read it and you'll find out! ;) ;)

Summary: Clemens does it again and leaves you aching for more.
Review: Well, I have just finished reading the third installment of what I now consider the BEST fantasy series I have ever had the pleasure of laying my hands on and the only bad thing I can say is that the fourth book cannot possibly be out soon enough.

Wit'ch War is most definitely only for those who have read the previous two books. If you're considering this book, I implore to go back and first read Wit'ch Fire and Wit'ch Storm before buying this one...if you do so, you WON'T be disappointed. Wit'ch War, like it's predecessors grabs hold of you and doesn't let you go. Clemens continues to blend rich story lines and characters with an amazing nack for suspense. Though the tale of Elena and her companions is now well set, there are STILL surprises around every corner. Just when you think you've discovered every last thread of the plot Clemens throws a new twist into the roller coaster ride that is the chronicles of the banned and the banished. I especially loved this book for it's emotional impact. This book, more than the previous two, clutches at the reader's emotions, wrenching them this way and that until you can't help but feel what the characters are feeling. I don't believe I have ever felt the pangs of loss or the joy of love so strongly in any other novel I've read. Clemens has written this third installment so well that I actually found tears rising to my eyes at the trials of Elena and her friends. This is truly a book for lovers of adventure AND for lovers of romance.

Summary: An Amazing Saga
Review: What an EXTRAORDINARY story! James Clemens goes above and beyond the call for the usual fantasy stories in Wit'ch War, the third book in a series of five. Such an amazing, original plot with enticing twists, invigorating action and such eloquent descriptions that the reader gets absorbed into the letters, becoming the character. Extremely satisfying and gorgeously written, Clemens' characters will leave you spellbound, on the edge of you seat and waiting for the fourth novel.

Summary: Ok fantasy
Review: What can I say? I really don't share the 5-star exuberance of my fellow reviewers. There is one thing that Clemens can do very well: tell a story and keep the plot coming at a frenetic pace. But on the other hand, there is something else where Clemens' shortcomings are evident: to make the characters solid and believable. The plot is all right, I do not think it is as masterful as the previous novel, but it still shows that Clemens knows how to handle suspense and keep the reader interested. But I have serious problems with the characters. At times, their actions are suspicious and bizarre, where motivations are not really clear. It is as if all evil is controlled by an Uberfiend; all his minions don't have a shred of ambivalence in their body. The same is true for the "good guys troupe". Only a minor character, Mogweed, has some interesting thinking patterns. At times, it feels to me as if Clemens is so eager to continue the plot that moments of tension are rushed (the climax atop the spire at the end seems to be over in a heartbeat) and dramatic moments are left behind with their ramifications unexplored (the d'warves feeling the power of the Trysil hammer are forgotten immediately). Even the characterizations and descriptions are rushed to nonexistent. WHile this helps move the plot at breakneck speed, it also comes with a severe cost. The author seems to be so eager (again) to continue with the story, that the characters' motivations and thoughts are not as fully explored as I would have liked. In conclusion, if you like your stories fast and furious, you cannot go wrong here; the book is a real pageturner. But if you want your characters to jump out of the page and really grab you, try George RR MArtin's superb series.

Summary: If you buy anything buy this series!
Review: When I first bought this book I was soooo excited because I had read the last two books of the series and they were GREAT so I hope this one would be too! Of coarse it WAS! It was better then I thought it was going to be! Once you start to read it you never want to put it down! I love how Mr. Clemens is soo imaginative! When you read it you think you know what's going to happen next but it's a totally different outcome... and even better then what you thought would happen! I loved this book and you should get off the computer and go buy it!
