Rating: Summary: Simply put...a wonderfully magical adventure. Review: A tale of good and evil, black magick versus white magick, treachery, betrayal, tragic loss, love...it has it all. This series was my introduction into the fantasy genre. I had it on good authority ;-) that I would probably enjoy this series and I admit I am pleasantly hooked. This third installment is by far the best in the series thus far in my opinion, where Clemens demonstrates the full potential of his writing skill and his very vivid imagination. Being an avid reader, I can truly say authors of this calibre are few and far between, someone who can paint detail into his story to the point where you can imagine yourself there, where you're angry right along with the characters, where your stomach lurches in a few scenes (think squidlike skull beasties), where you feel the emotion between Sy-wen and her bonded Ragnar'k/Kast (my personal favorite character), where you hate Kral to the point of a private cheering when he gets exposed for being a shape shifter.... A wonderfully intricate plot where you find yourself completely immersed in this epic tale of classic good versus evil. You simply don't want it to end...
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Magical! Review: Another great book in the series of Witch books by James Clemens. Could not put it down. Totally enthralls the reader and envelops you in the world of Alasea. Answers some questions from previous books but leaves several surprises for the end. An absolutely fantastic read. From beginning to end nonstop surprises, magic and adventure. READ THIS SERIES!
Rating: Summary: Here begins the War of the Isles . . . Review: First, thanks again to everyone who posted reviews of WIT'CH FIRE and WIT'CH STORM. As a first-time novelist, one of the greatest thrills is to discover readers who have enjoyed the story, especially those folks who are willing to take a moment to vocalize their opinions! As a new author, the only way to grow a readership is for one fantasy fan to tell another. In this third installment of "The Banned and the Banished" series, WIT'CH WAR, Elena and her companions are forced into a raging battle - on air, land, and sea - that will draw the line in blood between her forces and the Gul'gothal horde. But through it all, an even more dire threat looms: Who among her own companions will betray her? Again, I hope everyone enjoys Elena's tale as much I enjoyed writing it.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Once Again! Review: I can't imagine an author keeping me wanting for the next book....but James Clemens is an artist....painting pictures of characters in my mind and leaving their personalities in my heart.....this third book is as spellbinding as the first two...and I am hoping Mr. Clemens can keep up with the want of the fourth.....well done! A Magical Mystery Tour with characters that I relate too....... A definite Must!
Rating: Summary: Not bad, but could have been better. Review: I just finished the third installment of this series, and I have some mixed emotions. I agree that the books keeps you on the edge of your seat. I was actually sitting there cursing as Mycelle lead the traitors back to Elena; I was wincing with concern that she would be betrayed by one of her own. I also enjoy how the various strings of fate wove together to reveal prophecy come true. However, I thought if one more character muttered or mumbled, I was going to scream. I don't know when everyone forgot how to speak out loud, but the book is plagued by the overuse of the words. Also I feel that the character development of the main party was brushed over, although Kast and Sy-wen were well-developed. I read the second book just a couple of days ago, so I don't think I'm off in my judgments. Clemens took a break from the characters to advance the plot for the entire last book of the novel. Also I was startled that he so easily gave away the key to the mystery of Chi. To have so much of the plot shrouded in suspense, he let that one go too easily. Overall, I still give the book four stars. It is a fine addition to the series, but not as carefully written as the previous two. I still look forward to watching fate unwind in the fourth novel.

Rating: Summary: He did it yet again! Review: I waited for this book for a year and it certainly didn`t let me down. The plot thickens and there are some interesting twists to the story.I appreciate the fact that the characters are not 100% good or bad.As I`ve said in a review of the previous installments, Mr. Clemens writes very entertaining fantasy fiction that is easy to follow though in no way do I perceive his writing as simple. He respects his readers` intelligence. I strongly advise not starting with this book. Why miss out on the fun of the first and second volume?
Rating: Summary: Wit'Ch War Review: I'm not much drawn to fantasy, but this series is a good one. Clemens is developing as a skilled writer who gets better each time. If you want someone who delivers, he's your man. For me, too much contemporary fiction is all roller and no coaster. But Clemens hits the right balance in this one. His final battle scene is particular well-written. You get a gulp of air, then off you go again! In my mind, I can still see and hear the energy bolts blasting down as the hero team hurries through the city, beset by baddies all around.
Rating: Summary: action filled series Review: I've enjoyed the two previous books in this series and looked forward to reading the third. For the most part the characters are interesting and diverse. My only complaint was that the author could drag on a fight scene forever. A short encounter can go on for thirty pages with discriptions and flashbacks. These "action" scenes can be a tension grabber, but when a reader has to read and read and read and read just to find out who the attactor is, well, you kind of just loose interest. I kept finding myself flipping to a few pages ahead to see when it would end. Normally I would give three stars for an author with this problem, but because the two previous books were for the most part much better, I gave her an extra star for previous good writing.
Rating: Summary: You will like this if you've enjoyed this series. Review: If you have not read any of the Wit'ch series, don't start with Wit'ch War. The other books in the series are better and darker. In fact, what set this series apart is its dark story and some very wicked characters. Unfortunately this novel seems like the middle of the series. The plot advances, and it is usually interesting (although at times it sounds like so many other fantasy stories). When it was over, however, I felt as thought the whole novel was simply getting everyone in place for something more. If you've read the other books in the series, you may feel a bit let down by this one. Given the strong first two novels, I will acknowledge that middle acts are often the most difficult, and I look forward to Mr. Clemen's next novel. This one certainly didn't turn me off to the series. If you are thinking about starting this series, you may want to consider a few matters. As I mentioned, the bad guys are very bad. Sometimes what happens to their victims is described in graphic detail; if this turns you off, you might want to consider another series. Also, these novels are not overly long. This is not a novel that describes every loose board in every country inn. I like the fact that the story moves along, but some readers might want more detail. This pace, however, means that some characters get cursory treatment, and some potential plots are left undeveloped. At the end of this novel, the author says that we should leave the characters to rest and prepare for their next adventures. More than anything else in the novel, that passage sums up Wit'ch War.
