Summary: Did this book really need to be writen?
Review: After reading the first two books of Kate Forsyth's this one was quite disappointing. It was very hard to get into, unlike the first two great books. It was more of a chore to get through then pleasure. I feel that Forsyth could have really ended the series at the second book, and fixed the loose ends there. The Cursed Towers had no real plot except for Isabeau and the child, and what happened with Iseult and her husband was completely confusing and not worth reading.

Summary: Recommend for Tad Williams fans, David Eddings/other
Review: As a self proclaimed book connisseur (or bibliophile)I'm ever hopeful when cutting my teeth on the first pages of a new book. With this novel from Ms Forsyth, I was at first repelled by the inclusion of all the o's this and 'o that, but found myself quite innured to it by the last chapters of the book.

In fact I would like to point out that this book can be read on it's own, without first reading bk.1 or bk.2. I had not read either the first or second and came fresh to this book, and did not find it in the slightest bit confusing as long as you suspend picking over the small details which are not particularly important, and wait they will be, lo and behold, revealed to you all in the goodness of time. --SO basically I'm saying, I really enjoyed this book--

It will now be my pleasure to go back and read the first two books in the series, and look forward to the 4th (& final?)novel.

The book doesn't stall and dwelling on boring things such as views and just how perfect the day was and dally on discriptions of exactly what people were wearing, and digress into exactly how people were feeling.

I like to be accorded the intelligence to discern from intelligent prose the mood and humor of the charcters.

Kate Forsyth should be commended on her portrayl of Maya the Ensorcellor because she has made her a truly compelling character.

One more point to add - what is with trying to make the fairies all look different and so particularly describing when they have only one breast or two? I did find that perculiar but oh well, I guess she was a bit strapped for making them non-humanoid.

Breasts and accents, my only complaints, rather piddling really, so get the book!!

Summary: Really great book
Review: Better than book 1, The Cursed Towers is just as great as book 2, perhaps more. I never grew bored reading, it was very enjoyable. Isabeau going to the Spine of the World was really intriguing. The characters are well written and the series is worth reading.

Summary: Could have been better
Review: i found this book dissapointing, since i really enjoyed the first two books. this one had so much war in it you just get bored of it. that's what happened to me. i mean, i read the first two books in a day each. i'm still reading the cursed towers after 1 and a half weeks. i hope the rest of the series is better.
i also found the fact that iseult married lachlan dissapointing, since the series is more about isabeau than iseult. don't get me wrong, i like both of the twins, but i just think that isabeau should have remained the focus of the books.

Summary: Working my way through it
Review: I have just started reading book three. I found the first 100 pages pretty slow compared to the other two in the series. I really like her characters and feel that I can relate to them. I think that Lachlan (as far as I have gotten) should give Bronwen a break and raise her to love the faerie types and not be like her mother Maya. It is not her fault that she was born to Maya by an ensorcellment. I think that if you have read Jordan, Goodkind, or anyone else and have been enthralled by them, by all means read this series. I have read my share of good and bad books and this is nothing like the bad ones I have read recently.

Summary: Wonderful!!
Review: I have read the whole Witches of Eileanan series and love it! I hope - wish - that Kate Forsyth would write another. I wish the series could just keep going and going. The characters are very intruging, and the plot of the books make them hard to put down! My compliments to Kate Forsyth.

Summary: it was okay, but I expacted better
Review: I liked the first two books, I mean I was obsessed. I drew piccies of the characters, I had a website. (closed now, I don't even remember the URL NEmore) After I read this, I figured that the fourth book would be better and that everything was going to be alright.

But let me say: I didn't like the fact that this book had so much war. She should NOT have trusted maya, and even though I was glad she found her parents, Isabeau could have been an even bigger character. I think that Isuelt has been kinda wimpy in this book too. I'll read the 4th just to finish the series. Kate Forsyth is a great writer, but I've read better books than this one.

Summary: not a page turner
Review: I puchased this book based on customer rating. I enjoyed the first two book, but this third book is not as good as the first two. It was a slow reading. After I read about 250 pages, I had to give it up. The story is good actually, but for some reason I'm not sure why, it made a slow reading. I agree with Katie's review above that
reading this book was rather a chore than a pleasure.

Summary: What an intriguing series this is turning out to be!
Review: I really loved the first two books in the series, and I love this one too, but it's not at all what I expected. It's quite grim in parts - I cried at least twice - and there's a lot of battles which I thought were done really well - not so much description that you get bored, and lots of interesting stuff about strategy and so on, which was actually quite fascinating. And the way the threads keep knotting together and then pulling apart. She's a really intriguing writer, and quite addictive once you get used to the fact she's not going to give you what you expect.
