Rating: Summary: A review Review: The first review of this book down below urged people NOT to buy this book. He then went on to try to convince people to buy the Essentials version. Well, Essentials is fine for people who want apples, but if you want oranges, Marvel Masterworks is for you! Masterworks is a prestige format, Essentials is not. Masterworks is full-color, Essentials is black and white. Masterworks is hardcover with a dust-jacket on acid-free paper, Essentials is softcover with a cheap newsprint flavor paper. Essentials is cheaper for a reason, but Amazon has priced this volume VERY reasonably, so it isn't that much more expensive. And yes, it only has the first ten issues, but future Masterworks volumes will cover the issues that Essentials does (you can get the out of print volumes on Ebay or Amazon auctions.) I am not trying to rag on Essentials, but they are for a different market than Masterworks. If you want the best, and are willing to pay a little more for it, then you want this book! Like another reviewer said, this stuff is genius; it is archetypal superhero comics. What Lee and Ditko were doing in these pages has rarely been equaled. If you buy this book, you will not be disappointed. This title has now been revamped for the new line of Marvel Masterworks. It has a brand new dust jacket that looks really classy. It still covers Amazing Fantasy #15, one of the finest comics of all time, and Amazing Spider-Man #1-10. If you have seen the movie and want to read the first Spidey comics- not only are they all gathered here in one place, but this is as good as it gets. These comics are truly amazing!

Rating: Summary: It's more than just color Review: This is a terrific book, printed on high-quality, non-acid paper, in color. The "essential" has no color, and is printed on cheap pulpy paper that will deteriorate in 10 years. Ditko's genious deserves this treatment.
Rating: Summary: Marvel Masterworks/Amazing Spider-Man 1-10 Review: Very well done. I miss all the ads and the smell of the pages in the old original issues, but the reproduction by the publishers is first-rate. For anyone who wants to experience the old/silver age Marvel comics without spending thousands of dollars, the Marvel Masterworks series id definitely the way to go. This installment with Amazing Fantasy#15 (origin of Spider-Man) and issues #1-10 of the Amazing Spider-Man gives a good introduction to all the main characters including some of the villains who go on to plague Peter Parker for years to come. Looking forward to the next volume!
