Summary: Emotionally provocative!!
Review: this title was one of the best fantasy books I have ever read. the plot was great and the illustrations were awe-inspiring! and, of course, who could resist those gryphons! I found myself feeling for them! A GREAT READ!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must read for all fantasy fans
Review: This book was excellent. The characters are so well defined its as if they were real. It has a good mix of tragedy and humor. And with characters like Skandranon who would get bored with it? I read the book 4 times already and it always gets me hooked.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful piece of fiction. Lackey and Dixon are brilliant
Review: This was a moving, thrilling piece. I enjoyed every moment that I was reading. The characters are so well defined that it almost felt like I was living it, and Dixons' illustrations were great. Brilliantly done.

Summary: A book worth reading - do yourself a favour and enjoy it.
Review: This is a well-written book that I enjoyed a great deal. The start and finish of the book are excellent. The characters are full of life and the I got deeply involved with their lives. One drawback to this book is the length of time spent describing the camp life of the main characters. The other drawback is I never really got to know the main villain. In fact the only time the book involves the villain is at the finish. More involvement from the villain would have made this book something special.

Summary: Excellent read even for those who dislike fantasy!
Review: I am not one who cares for fantasy; I am often appauled at the severe lack of good science-fiction (not just Star Wars or Star Trek) in bookstores today. But after I recieved a copy of The Black Gryphon from a relative after Christmas, I couldn't put it down! Instead of focusing on spells and potions, the author focused on character development, relationships, strategy and what it's like for those behind the lines in the time of war. You could really sympathize with the characters! (I especially did with Zhaneel). This is one series that will be read over and over again in my household. Snag this one up fast if you can find it!

Summary: Simply amazing.
Review: Misty's done a grand job with this one. The nonhuman characters--namingly, Skan, Zhaneel, Aubri, and Gesten--are all given such believable that those who frown on nonhuman characters will have to change their views after reading it. I couldn't put the book down help but cry. It's marvelously done, and Larry Dixon's beautiful illustrations fix the characters more firmly in the reader's mind. I highly reccommend this book to any and all fantasy fans.

Summary: Gripping story, one everyone should read!
Review: This book has it all...as the first of the three Mage Wars books, it has alot of explaining to do and does it well. It has action, suspense, humor, romance, and sadness. If this book and the other two were made into movies (along the lines of Dragonheart) I would get a job at a theater just to watch them for free!

Summary: G.I.B.(Gryphon in Black)
Review: You'll laugh, yuo'll cry, you'll kiss six bucks good-bye, if you buy this book. It is positively delightful. Lackey must have been ripping her hair to shreds to get it right. You'll like it even if you don't like fantasy. This is a book that you will not regret spending your lunch money on. You will read it to bits out of love for it. I gaurentee it!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A wonderful book, I recommend it highly.
Review: If you like gryphons, birds of prey, or mythics in general this is the book (series) for you. Lackey manages to capture the trials and tribulations of being a hero as well as the successes and joys. It is also a realistic look at warfare, though the fighting takes second place to life in the camp and the relationship between a healer called Amberdrake and the legendary Black Gryphon, Skandranon.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I loved It!
Review: Lacky has really outdone herself this time. This a beautifully written book with lots of detail and unforgettable characters. The romance in this book was very sweet and Skandranon will keep you on the edge of your seat. Perfect for curling up with a cup of coffee. Buy This Book! You will thank me for it later.
