Summary: Epic wonder.................................Read it!!!!!
Review: I've liked Mr. Stanek's style very much from the start but now that I've read this second book, this series became my favorite fantasy by far. Mr. Stanek weaves mystery and intrigue into the story masterfully, from making you suspicious of characters and their backgrounds, then increasingly building the suspense and interest as the story goes on. If you thought Keeper Martin's Tale was good but not great, this is more the book for you. Elf Queen digs deeper and darker into the rich history of Ruin Mist, giving you much more to chew on. There really isn't a dull moment in the entire book--everthing starts moving from the beginning, keeps on going...by the time you think to pause for a breather the story's over. Sometimes I've read a large book in a day before, but this was the first time I passed by food and took the book with me to the bathroom! Buy it, read it!

Summary: Better than I ever expected
Review: Elf Queen's Quest is an exciting and fitting sequel to Book I. Although some parts of the 1st book are seen from different viewpoints, it didn't stop me from reading. The development of the plot and the characters takes the reader on a new level in every chapter. If in Book 1 I felt their emotions, here in Book 2 I ended up caring for them and fearing for them (because what is happening is dark). Robert Stanek has brillantly put together a story that has everything in it: adventure, magic, mystery, humor but never fails to emphasize on compassion, courage, self-sacrifice, loyalty and friendship.

And though I don't understand all of the characters (Xith for one. He's a mystery. Midori for another), their stories are just as interesting as those of Vilmos, Emel, Seth, Galan and Adrina. Vilmos is the one I identified with most strongly. His dreams, his visits to the underworld, his escape into the forest kept my heart pounding as I turned page after page. Vilmos has proven himself humble and not at all hungry for fame and publicity. He just wants to survive and he's brave enough to head out into the world and leave his family behind. The events that happened to Vilmos and his friends has proven once again that Vilmos is a key in this changing world. He's compassionate and self-sacrificing and will go to great lengths in saving another person's life. And although his dreams are scary and his magic forbidden (because of the evil past of human magic), Vilmos nevertheless showed that his inherent goodness has the power to outweigh everything else.

The stories of Vilmos/Xith, Seth/Galan, Adrina/Emel are absolutely enthralling and when the stories finally come together it's awesome. Everything that happens before and after has a wonderful build. The momentum is fabulous. In Book 2, all the characters have their moment to shine, and friendships are growing. Emel has proven himself a caring and supportive friend to Adrina. Aware of Adrina's plight, he plunges in, thinking more of Adrina than himself and he is there for her throughout. During the journey, Emel never left Adrina's side, and despite his own inner conflicts with his feelings for her, he still went out of his way to help her. That is true friendship indeed! Seeth and Galan, on the other hand, are quite different. Seth provides the 'brains' but lacks experience with the real world. He's never been beyond Kapital and the Brotherhood of the Elves is all he knows. Galan is the balancing weight. She's a bit different and together the members of the Red make many costly choices, choices that hold the keys to their fate. Seth's intelligence, combined with Galan's strength makes their story special.

Book 2 has also given us a mirror into which we can reflect on the events of Book 1. We can wonder what is the truth of the events. Where is the change taking their world? Can we believe the views of Keeper Martin Or is his view stilted in favor of Great Kingdom? Above all, it tells us that history can be written and rewritten and to find the truth of history, you must look for it. Vilmos is a model of bravery, Emel of compassion and loyalty which I hope we can still find in the our world. I can only hope that Adrina can overcome her sadness before it sweeps her away.

Summary: Simply amazing...
Review: Robert Stanek is hands down my favorite author. "Elf Queen's Quest" is the second book in the series titled "Ruin Mist Chronicles" and unlike most books it doesn't pick up right after the first book in the series.

Instead, Stanek detours back a bit to give us new views of some happenings while the story we read took place elsewhere and also provides a wealth of new story lines. So far anyone looking for the continuation of "Keeper Martin's Tale". This isn't it.

As it states at the end of "Keeper Martin's Tale" the continuation of that story line is written in "Kingdom Alliance". As others have said read "Keeper Martin's Tale" and then "Kingdom Alliance" and if you find that you must know everything that is happening to these characters and in this world (like most readers) come back to "Elf Queen's Quest"

"Elf Queen's Quest" doesn't disappoint. It blows almost every book that I've read out of the water because Stanek is such an awesome author. The story starts off with a riveting prologue in the Reaches and then takes us to the story of a character we've rarely seen in the other books- Midori. She is a Priestess of the Mother, and if you've been paying attention you know her deepest secrets from the other books, which makes her all the more interesting.

The story from there intertwines with much of what we've seen already with many new pieces put into the puzzle. With this book comes a deeper, darker look at the fantsay world than what was in the first book. Many dark doings take place and are major to the plot. They also make us doubt many of the characters who we may have thought we purely good.

For those who like quests, though there aren't any. Most of this book is based on sword fights, back stabbing, challenges, intrigue, mystery, politics, and captivating storylines. All in all it is a most refreshing break from the usual fantasy story lines.

For sure what makes "Elf Queen's Quest" interesting, and the other two novels in this series for that matter, is the way that the story is told. The story's chapters are broken up into sections told from the point of view of the main characters and because of this you are not stuck with the point of view of one character throughout the whole entire story or for tedious long chapters.

In addition to the character of Midori, there is one other important character introduced. Read this book to see who it is. For those of you who think that no other book can beat "Lord of the Rings" and other 1000 page epic you're wrong. In "Elf Queen's Quest" the plot develops more, you see things in a different light and you learn more about the characters, and Robert Stanek writes brilliantly.

I think though this book should only be read if you have read the first and third novel in this series. If I were you, I would order both books 1 and 3 of "Ruin Mist Chronicles" and then order book 2 because when you are done with those books you are going to want something to tide you over until the next "Ruin Mist Chronicles" book comes out.

This book is a new type of fantasy novel and should not be missed by any fan of the genre. Happy Happy Happy Reading!

Summary: Fantasy IS back!
Review: Well it's about time! If you miss the great tales and heroes and magic first perfected by Tolkien with Lord of the Rings, and are looking for a fun read well look no further. Robert Stanek has opened up fantasy once more with the Ruin Mist series.

How good is it? Well, the only other 5 star ratings I have given to other fantasy authors have been to J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) and Robert Jordan (The Wheel Of Time). Yes, it's that good. Maybe even Better. The plot has plenty of twists and turns throughout. It is on the surface about a boy who gets magic, a girl who sees the world, and elves who return from exile.

What makes these books stand out above the rest, however, is the rich characterizaton, the great history, the fantastic story, with plots woven into plots. The characters are beleiveable, and the reader will truly sympathize wit the heroes. A sure signs of a good book for me is when I start to feel genuine fear and sorrow when things don't go right for the main characters, and that doesn't happen often, but it sure did here. Not only are the heroes so excellent, but there's always a sense of urgency and suspense throughout the book. Another standout for this book is the unique perspective on the nature of magic, elf magic in particuarl, which is also a must in a fantasy novel.

I can't really go into more detail without spoilers, but belive me, it will get you to think. To finish up, this book get my highest stamp of appproval. If you want a good, fun read and have a soft spot for fantasy read the book. You won't be disapointed.

Summary: Best for fans
Review: Well, when i read Keeper Martin's Tale, I was very impressed with it. As for Kingdom Alliance the true sequel I was completely engulfed in the story. My work sure didn't get done while I had that book near me. Although I have read some very good books, Ruin Mist Chronicles is NUMBER ONE all the way. I am reading them for the third time, and i am enjoying it even more than before. I love all the characters, from faithful Emel to mysterious Xith, to the strange and bad Erravane. The books are unpredictable with readers holding our breaths turningthe pages.

Elf Queen's Quest is different from those however. Keeper Martin's Tale and Kingdom Alliance are true sequels of each other. Elf Queen's Quest isn't. It is a different view of the story. Keeper Martin's Tale and Kingdom Alliance seem to be chronicled by Keeper Martin, head lore keeper of the realms. Elf Queen's Quest seems to have a different spin. I recommend it only to true fans which is why I give it 3 stars for true fans its very close to 5 stars no doubt so a 4 over all.

Summary: Jolly Good Read with Interesting Ideas
Review: I found this novel to encapsulate almost all of the things I look for in a book. If you're interested in seeing realistic characers wrapped around an incredible fictional core that leaves you wanting more, this book is for you. You'll find it hard to put down I can assure you.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: I absolutely loved this book! I usually don't like books, but I couldn't put this one down. It was with me everywhere I went. It made me cry when characters died. It made me shout encouragement to the characters at the climaxes. My all-time favorite characters were Vilmos, Emel, Seth, and Adrina. I kind of liked Xith too.

The book not only about adventure, but also friendship, compassion and bravery. I would reccomend this book to just about anyone, unless they are close-minded freaks who demand perfection. (like my english teacher) If you just let go and open your mind, you can get lost in this book and never find a way out. The ending pulls out your heart and drops it on the floor so you want more. This book met my every need. Any one who doesn't like it has to be a freak or something!

Summary: BEST BOOK I'VE READ IN A LONG TIME!!!
Review: I had my local library reserve this book for me. When they contacted me to say it was ready for pick up, I was currently reading another very good book. I went to the library to retrieve Elf Queen's Quest and started reading the first chapter. I could not put it down! The other book I was reading is still on my nightstand waiting on me. This is a great book and Robert Stanek is a very talented and intelligent author. I almost hated for this book to end. I loved and truly enjoyed every word of tihs book! This is an intelligent and well thought out piece of great writing.

Summary: A great read
Review: I loved this book! As soon as I finished it I went out and bought the next one in the series (still waiting on the fourth to be published.). Great book. Great series. Well written with interesting characters, lots of intrigue and action. I've read many other fantasy fiction authors such as David Eddings, Terry Brooks, and Robert Jordan but this one is SO much better. Often compared to A Song of Fire and Ice because of the unique structure and fantastic epic story, it is truly a keeper. I've gone back and read all of them over again at least twice. Highly recommended for any fantasy reader.
