Summary: One thing you need to understand....
Review: Is that you really need to have read the Book of Words trilogy to completely get this novel. The thing that stands out the most for this to be true is the ending. It is most certainly a cliffhanger ending - one of the best I've encountered! - but it's going to mean nothing if you haven't read the other series first. This one is definately better than the other series, and I adored the other series! But you really do need to have read that first, I think.... For it to live up the its full potential. My humbled opinion. Those of you haven't but read this, go back and give them a shot! It really is great stuff!

Summary: Good Fantasy.....but doesn't compare with....
Review: Good Fantasy, well written and a good read, but doesn't compare with Terry Goodkind, George R. R. Martin, and definitely not as good as J.R.R. Tolkien's work. Although its not the greatest, I suggeset any fantasy reader to pick it up in paperback.

Summary: Pretty gripping
Review: I never made it through her previous books but rather overdosed on this one in less than a week. One thing detracts - why the fascination with over-the-top blood references? If I want a horror book I'd buy Stephen King. The character observations and action sequences carried it however.

Summary: a wonderful fantasy that's fantastically wonderful
Review: J.V. Jones has done it again. What a great fantasy novel Cavern Of Black Ice is. It's chilling in it's telling filled with adventure and high on thrills. Travel to a frozen land where evil waits to be let free. This book is filled with all the things that make a fantasy novel truly come alive. Julie is a wonderful writer and a great person. Check out her website it's a great place to spend some time and a good way to get to know her better. Julie I await your next book with great expectations.

Summary: A book to savor!
Review: Set yourself up with a comfy chair and plenty of goodies because you won't want to stop reading this book for a minute. I plan to continually check amazon for the next installment of this series.

Summary: J.V. Jones scores again!
Review: When I started reading this book, I thought that it would be something like The Barbed Coil, but was most pleasently surprised that they were nothing alike!

I recomend this book to any fantasy reader!

Summary: Good Fantasy Novel, but not great
Review: The novel was well written, and the character interaction was good. I have not read any other of J.V. Jones' novels so don't know her writing style. I was disappointed by the way she left so many things hanging at the end, and the introduction of so many characters. I feel that there are better ways to lead into a sequel. Especially when the sequel is usually years in the making! Maybe she should have focused on one or two main characters, instead of trying to develop so many main characters.

Worth reading, but not one of the most complete novels I have every read.

Summary: This book subconsciously affected my physiology.
Review: While reading this novel, which is set in snow and ice, I felt the cold. I spent the entire time next to the heater wondering why it was so cold. A novel has to be good when you subconsciously start to feel the weather. This novel is worth reading for its ability to totally submerge you in its intricate storyline.

Summary: Another Fantastic Jones book...
Review: J.V. Jones writes another thrilling book, this one in the frigid wastelands north of the Known Lands (where the Book of Words Trilogy took place). The book creates another fantastic plot that sucks you in, gives you more well-crafted characters and loads of intrigue. Another fantastic read and a worthwhile book for the old fantasy fiction collection.

Summary: Excellent! A must read for fantasy readers.
Review: The Book of Words series in my opinion was just ok. But Her new book I read in two days. I just could't put it down. It picks up from the begining and leads you on a roller coaster ride that doesn't end even when the book is finished. I'm hooked. I've never read a writer who has improved as much as Ms. Jones has. My hat off to you. Can't wait for the next one. But take your time, it's worth the wait to get it right. By the way loved the ending.
