Summary: WELL WRITTEN AND GOOD TEXT
Review: I have read a great many books in my 17 years, more than normal according to some, but the Great Alta books have drawn me back to them time and time again. Any book that I read more than once has to be a good book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A book unable to put down
Review: i love it, every word and every second im reading it. i just love books where they dont really tell you how the charactors look like. somehow, you picture yourself as a part of the story.

Summary: Phenomenal
Review: I picked out the first book in Borders when I was ten, and though I hardly understood the "historical footnotes" I enjoyed the story very much. Years after, I found the book on my shelf, and re-read it. I was swept away by the poignancy, the absolute truth in it. Passing my mirror later, I actually considered trying to... well, you get the idea. :) Although the third was somewhat anticlimatic, I loved them all and have cherished the novels always.

Summary: Good Enough
Review: I read the first book years ago as a preteen, and did not pick up the second until much later. The story is wonderful. Jane Yolen has offered up a complete society with rich history and totally believable characters. I have read the entire tale over and over again and find something new to love every time. I appreciate the detail and thought that she put into the history of the tale of White Jenna. If only she would write more for grownups...

Summary: Good Enough
Review: I read this book because I love Jane Yolen - Dragon's Blood, Heart's Blood, Tartan Magic - and I have to say that I was disapointed! I found a dry plot, none too interesting, and - in my opinion - useless footnotes clogging the content, and I was very turned off.
Listen, you can read this book if you want, but I would suggest no.
If you want good Jane Yolen, read Pit Dragons or Tartan Magic and leave this book on the shelf.

Summary: I wish Yolen wrote more books for adults!
Review: I've read a lot of Yolen's books, the ones intended for kids and the ones intended for "older kids." If you're an older kid as I am, I would think it nearly impossible to not be haunted by _Sister Light, Sister Dark,_ _White Jenna,_ and _Briar Rose._ Now, I've got _The One-Armed Queen_ to look forward to! But such a fantasist, as Yolen is, I could wish, would write more beautiful, lyrical, funny, very sad books for adults too.
