Rating: Summary: Simply the Best Review: This is the only book that I have ever read for a second time.. ...Immediately after reading it the first time. It is that good.I can honestly think of no other science fiction book, and precious few books of any genre that have the same " 'Can't put it down" read that 'DNS' has. A plot complex though clear, riveting and thought provoking, it is rich with multiple protagonists each with their own fascinating story. The book screams for a sequel, though also stands on its own just fine. (BUT PLEASE GIVE US THE SEQUEL, GLEN!!) I'd love to see Peter Jackson given free reign (and a HUGE budget) for a 3-5 part 'Dragon Never Sleeps' movie series like he is doing with 'Lord of the Rings'. The book is very hard to find; check Ebay and look in used bookstores.

Rating: Summary: The best forgotten Space Opera in the last decades! Review: This story has multiple plotlines all interwoven into a thrilling story that cannot be put down. Everyone of the many characters are fully realized and interesting. Seemingly small parts are suddenly the key in this amazingly rich tale. This book can easily stand with the very best in adventure science fiction.
Rating: Summary: Probably Glen Cook's best book : get it now! Review: Whether you are a fan of Glen Cook's dark, cynical Black Company series or his lighter Garrett series or have never heard of the guy, this is a must-read, which I personally consider the best of his books, in spite of the overall quality of his prolific fantasy output. Serious, entertaining, realistic space-opera on a grand scale which does not simplify human nature and contradictions, the nearest comparison I can find to this excellent standalone science fiction book is Cyteen by C.J. Cherryh, or The Sword of the Lamb trilogy by M.K. Wren. Its tone is closest to The Tower of Fear, another great Glen Cook book, and manages to involve the reader in the characters without sentimentality or unrealistic happy ending. The main problem with it is that it is relatively hard to find, but if you are looking for fun, gripping science fiction, you could hardly find better.
