Rating: Summary: Great Work Review: I am not much of a reader, well, I wasn't much of a reader till this series came along. It has captivated me and has had me reading and re-reading it over and over, each reading has always enlightened more of the story to myself making each re-reading as exciting and entralling as the first time I picked it up, maybe more so! I look forward to the following book(s) and wish they would never end. Robert Jordan is a brilliant writer, few others have managed to capture my interest as tightly as this one and I have read it more than most others.
Rating: Summary: The Best Series In The Industry Review: This is another great book in the series. It, like others, enthrals you and exites. The depth of the plot is wonderful and depite it's critics saying it's taking too long, anything shorter would have critics saying its not long enough. Granted book 8 is shorter than others but Jordan's got problems just like the rest of us. Good luck on the rest of the series Robert.
Rating: Summary: Please give us completion. Review: The long awaited vol. 8 in the never ending series arrives. I personally think it was well worth the wait. Then I've only been reading this series for 18 months, to some who have been reading since the begining of time an ending is long overdue. As far as epic series go, I believe Robert Jordan has a winner.
Rating: Summary: Can anyone see China yet? Review: So R.J. releases another book, joy to the world our savior has come.......Eh! I think not. "Could of been" is what comes to mind when I read this book, it could have been a classic the book that finally solved the problem of over-plot(when the story gets so big you write a novel set around one week where nothing much happens). We wish we we were that lucky but we're not. Insted we got more plot for our money, so much plot in fact that major players were left out of it completly. R.J. my only advice is to say screw the publishers and write 1000 pages of endings, a sort of 'Return of the Jedi' but only episode 6 of 9 in 'The Wheel of Time'. The fans will wait trust me we've done it before. It may sound like I don't like the book but you'd be wrong to think that, its just that its contributing to a hole being dug by the previous books and giving them more pick axes.
Rating: Summary: Read it again, cause if you didnt like it the first time... Review: I thought it was a great book. If you read the whole series in one continuous cycle, it works out great. If you didnt like it, I say read it again. Cause I didnt think it was that great at first, but then I read it again. I thought it was a lot better. I looked deeper into it, and found it more enjoyable. I didnt look at it from a critics point of view at all. All I can say is read it again. And Robert Jordan, THANKS FOR SIGNING MY BOOK:), makes it all worthwhile.
Rating: Summary: Try to Keep TPOD in *Perspective* Review: I've now read every review of this book on Amazon, and I think everybody has made a critical assumption that might explain why so many people have been disappointed with this latest installment in the Wheel of Time. Many people seem to be upset or irritated that after such a *long* wait, the latest book is so *short* and the plot has advanced so *little*....Looked at from the perspective of someone waiting to see what happens, these are understandable sentiments. But consider the Wheel of Time from the perspective of twenty years from now. The series is finished. There are, say, 14 volumes. Books 8 and 9 are short, but lead to a massive shift in the nature of events, and books 10, 11, and 12 finally set the stage for the massive final events in 13 and 14. Looked at from this perspective, the Wheel of Time could very much be what we have all so badly wanted it to be -- the greatest fantasy series of all time, hands down. From this perspective, it's a pretty trivial thing that Book 8 did not satisfy our immediate cravings. There has never really been a series as epic as this, so maybe the truth is simply that it needs to be fully written before it can be *fully* enjoyed -- and if that takes another ten years, or fifteen years -- if Robert Jordan even decides to take a five year break at some point, to really think about how he is going to secure his place as the greatest fantasy author in history -- then so be it. I can wait. But I do agree that Robert Jordan needs to be careful now. Book 9 will either set the stage for what I've described, or break the series altogether. I implore the author to take the high road on this one. Publishing schedules are irrelevant when compared to what you are achieving. And If TOR won't publish you, *we* will find you another way. And don't get me wrong about TPOD either. It's still a great book and can definitely be enjoyed here and now.
Rating: Summary: Fortunately time is not a pressing factor for me Review: In this newest installment of Robert Jordans: "Wheel of Time", I found though clipped a little short of his usual grandeur,it was an excellent book. Though I admit it did leave me salivating for more and resulted in a stomping around my house with impatiance and vexation. However every one has demands they need to meet, included it seems is our very own Robert Jordan. This in mind I will huff quietly and be content on lesser books untill Mr. Jordan can fathom the time and genius it takes to continue his masterpiece that is the "Wheel Of Time".
Rating: Summary: So what if it took a long time? Review: I liked it! It's not the best in the series for me, I'm more into Mat more than Perrin or Rand,(though they are all great), but I still had a good time reading it. It mainly just primed me for the rest of the books in the series. A lot of people complained the time the TIME! It's taking too long. Everybody that has put in the time and effort to write 8 mac daddy bestselling fantasy novels raise your hand if you have a complaint. EVERYBODY ELSE CAN JUST BE QUIET!! If you think you can write a better series, and do it faster then go ahead, I'll probably even buy it and read it, but until that day comes Give the Jordanmonster a break. He da man. That's just my opinion, but I am always right.:-)
Rating: Summary: Path of Daggers; Jordan's walking it with this one Review: This book was just enough to drive me insane with questions about what happened to Mat, the sole reason I bought the book was to see mats fate with the seanchan, he's my favorite character and I think the book missed something without him. Jordan is a good writer but he's moving to slow. The book, the way it's going couldn't possibly be ended with any less than five more books. And is Rand going to go crazy or cleanse Saidin, becuase the way he's going he'll kill himself and everyone around him before Tarmon Gaidon ever comes, and Morainne, will she return when the horn blows or is she stuck in that wish world with Lanfear? good story but taking tooooooooooo Long
Rating: Summary: One of the best Review: While this is not the best book in this series, it is one of the best books I have read. The series is the best I have ever read, and I would encourage Mr. Jordan to write as many of them as he can. I was disappointed that Moiraine is still not back and that Mat, Thom, etc. were not in this book.
