Summary: Triumphs through the Civil War make this a fascinating read
Review: This book is wonderful! It is the best classic ever written! Scarlett, a young lady growing up during the Civil War, struggles through many things. The hardships she faces are unbeleiveable! She has three husbands- Hamilton, Kennedy, and Butler. SHe ends up divorcing them all. There are many sad events in the bood, but there are also some happy moments. This book is a must read!

Summary: Scarlett O'Hara Wannabee
Review: I loved this book! It was written in a descriptive language, but it was a level that everyone could understand. Maybe that's why people love the story. There is always one character (at least) that you can identify with. Just a warning, don't read it and expect to know all about the Civil War. It will talk about it, but it concentrats (spelling, sorry) more on Rhett and Scarlett than the war. Some say that it was racist. Slavery was wrong, there is no doubt about that, but there were always different kinds of masters. The masters in GWTW were obviously kind ones. This presents the way the South saw the war, which was very VERY hard on them. Read it and do yourself a favor. Just a suggestion, though, watch the movie first (which is also excellent) and then read the book so you won't be dissappointed with the differences.

Summary: It was a Wonderful Book!!!
Review: Yes, I would recommend this book to my friend because I think anyone who loves to read about history would love this book. And also anyone who loves to wear ball gowns would love to read about all the costumes Scarlett wears in this book. Over all anyone could love to read this book.

Summary: Wonder, must read!
Review: I must admit, before I read the book, I watched the movie! And I liked it so much, I picked up the book and read it cover-to-cover in a matter of days! I absolutely could not put it down! Scarlett is my all-time favorite female charactor, and the whole setting is wonderful. If you have not read this book yet, what are you waiting for?

Summary: I loved it!
Review: I first read this book at 16 and it was the first (and about the only) book that would make me get butterflies in my stomach. Mitchell's language is very easy to read. Although some of the characters have what I consider character flaws, by in large the novel is quite entertaining.

Summary: IT IS THE BEST BOOK I EVER READ.
Review: I HAVE READ GONE WITH THE WIND MANT TIMES AND EVERY TIME I CRIED AT THE END. IT DESERVES READING.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best Novel Ever
Review: This is the best book ever written. Margeret Mitchell is the best author of all time and Gone With the Wind is both the best novel and movie of all time. I can't get much better than this description of the South. It never has a dull moment and the only ones who don't fully enjoy it is those who cannot understand it.

Summary: Extraordinary!
Review: GWTW is passion, betrayals, and the flirtations of southern breezes on sultry nights. Mitchell gets into the characters' heads better than most authors dare dream to do.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good character description, but naive view of slavery
Review: I agree with many reviewers that the book is an interesting, engrossing novel. The character development and descriptions are very good, and Mitchell does a good job of describing the motives that drive the characters. I also appreciated the fact that Mitchell did not write a typical "happily ever after" ending. However, I find it disturbing that very few reviewers noticed or commented on the extreme racism in the book. If you believe Mitchell's description of the KKK, you would never know that this was a racist, terrorist organization (and still is). Also, according to Mitchell, only "trashy" black people wanted freedom; the "quality" black people wanted to remain slaves!! These are obviously Mitchell's views of black people, and not just the characters' views. Mitchell took pains to write that not all Yankees were bad and that many were ashamed of the corrupt reconstructionist government they had to uphold. In a biography of Mitchell's life, she is described as refusing to attend a class with a black student who has been admitted to her college. I only hope that most readers noted her obviously racist views and realize that slavery was not as she described it.
