Rating: Summary: Buy this book right now Review: If you just happened to have found this book, and are considering buying it, stop considering, listen to that little compulsive voice in your head, and buy it! This is one of the best books I have every read, and the entire series is great. The world created by CS Friedman in these three books is one that could very well go down into fantasy history. I personally don't like a lot of the fantasy books that are out there, but this one is incredible. I would recommend it for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I picked this book up because of its awesome cover. Once I started I couldn't put it down - I read the entire thing while on a plane from Seattle to Madrid. Now I'm hooked!
Rating: Summary: AWESOME BOOK Review: C.S. is amazing! I just started reading fantasy books and this is absolutly amazing! C.S. is a genuis, the way everything is put together is outstanding. There are planty more adjetives to describe this book, and they're all good!
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Dark Fantasy Review: If you like your fantasy dark. Where the lines between good and evil aren't clearly defined you'll enjoy this book. The characters are memorable, and the evil they fight is truly nasty and just what you love to hate.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: This is by far the best series I have ever read. A cross between Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror: simply the best!
Rating: Summary: Great Book, but some don't think so. Review: This is to all that read either shaiitan's or any other "reviewer" that gave Black Sun Rising 1 star. All science fiction/Fantasy books have someone saving the universe thats what the entire genre is about! I and everybody on the board (except for oddballs) believe that this book was great. I recommend that you listen to all those that say that it is a good book and not those (oddballs). Peace out!
Rating: Summary: Incredible! Review: This book is a work of art... Slow at first, the momentum drives relentlessly forward to a thrilling conclusion and leads PERFECTLY into the next book in the series... Cunningly written in Friedman's unique style this is a book which is startalingly possible, and the conflict between the main characters is incredibly intense. This is surely a must read!
Rating: Summary: Of of the Best in the Library Review: This was one of the best books I have ever read. It has rich characters, and a fantastical setting that you can almost see when you shut your eyes. Damien and Gerald are some of the best characters I have ever read about, and I would recommend this book to anyone who had any kind of interest in this particular type of book.
Rating: Summary: Get these books ! Review: I read the first book in the trilogy, and was so blown away that I had to read the other two.. The first few chapterst start out a bit slow as it builds up the storyline, but once they get into it I assure that you wont be able to put them down.
Rating: Summary: Original, well thought-out, not wholly captivating though. Review: The ideas incorporated in this fantasy/SF-romp are original, well though-out and have far-reaching consequences for the world described. I do feel the storyline is too simple, and too much drawn out, without a good build-up of tension; I found the 'climax' to be very unsatifsying, emotionally. The 'good-guy' priest/warrior type comes across as really self-centered and thick-headed, judging all who cross his path with sickening ponderousness. The real star of the book IS the hunter, although I feel there's not enough depth to him. Friedman is not a REALLY good storyteller, lacking in the skills of folk like Jack Vance and Fritz Leiber: colorful descriptions, a biting sense of humour and the ability to get the story flowing. All in all, an enjoyable read, although I'm not sure I'll be reading the sequels.
