Summary: Tis excellent.
Review: I have read the trilogy three times and all of the times I have I have always gotten entranced in the web of events. I always find something different out about the characters. Tarrant and Vryce. Their uneasy alliance that eventually becomes and odd sort of friendship. It requires as many scientific or logical minds as it does minds that are open and imaginative. I grew so attatched to Tarrant and Vryce, that I could swear that I actually heard them talk and was there with them in their, how shall I say this, pursuits. I even shed a few tears when some characters died. But the knowledge that I can continue going back to them keeps me happy. I would recommend this trilogy to anyone.

Summary: Excellent! Outstanding
Review: I was totally amazed by this book. Once I began to read it, it was virtually impossible to stop. I was totally absorbed by all the characters, and wish that there could have been more in this fabulous series (especially about Tarrant). This is one of the best Sci-fi/Fantasy books you will ever read. You will not regret reading it.

Summary: Brillliant !
Review: I am reading the coldfire trilogy for the second time (in dutch translation) and I am absolutely thrilled. The first time I was impatient to find out what was going to happen next, but now reading it for the second time I can enjoy the finesses. It's absolutely brilliant. There is a Philosophy behind this novell that goes much deeper once you start thinking about it. It is my greatest wish to be able to exchange thoughts with the author. I'm impatient to read more work from her.

Summary: Totally Captivating
Review: what can I say? This book(and its sequels) are the best sci-fi books I've ever read...Ms.Friedman takes you in a world so realistic, yet so unreal...! I couldn't put it down.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!
Review: I thought that this was one of the most creative stories ever written. The author is really in touch with her characters. Two thumbs up!

Summary: The Best Female Fantasy writer Ever!
Review: I'm a voracious reader. I average one book every day and finished this book in three hours but have yet to find a better female writer(although Janny Wurts and Deborah Chester come close). She doesn't compare to the best male writers(Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind, Roger Zelazny, Tad Williams, David Eddings, Michael Scott Rohan, David Gemmel), But that didn't stop me from reading the trilogy four times. Highly recommended(I would have given it an 11, but alas it wasn't an option). If you have questions e-mail me. Keep up the good work Ms. Friedman.

Summary: This book is excellent!
Review: I have to admit that this book was a bit intimidating and even a bit confusing at first, I stopped reading about 40 pages into it...but one day I started reading it again and I was dumbfounded! This trilogy is the best that i have ever read! (the second one could use some help but is still good!) This is a must read for all Science Fiction and Fantasy novel fans alike.

Summary: Excellent Read
Review: I picked up this book and couldn't put it down until I was done! It was a very dark fantasy with interesting characters and for once everything wasn't black and white, but rather varying shades of grey. I was also very glad that there wasn't the usual "happily ever after" type ending.

Summary: The very best so far I've ever read
Review: The Coldfire books are magnificent. It's hard to imagine that someone is able to create such a violent world with good and evil. "Tarrant The Hunter" is great. This really is a great story and worth to be sold over and over. C.S.Friedman is a genius!!

Summary: An appreciable mix between science and fantasy
Review: The Coldfire trilogy, of which this is book 2, is very well written. It has strong characters with whom the reader can identify, and the setting is fresh. I don't normally like a merging of science and fanstasy. The two are seperate genres, one deriving from actual or close approximations of scientific understanding and speculation, the other drawing on the occult and mythological symbols. Fantasy is the antithesis of science, and so one cannot be considered a sub-genre of the other. I don't go for mixtures of the two in my reading. Freidman intrigued me when I read "In Conquest Born." That's why I picked up "Black Sun Rising," and its sequal. Needless to say, Freidman accomplishes the feel of fantasy while staying true to the premise of soft science fiction. I especially like the development of Tarrant's character in the second book, in particualr his devolution/evolution (?) from demon to slightly more human. His face to face confrontation with the God of his, indirect, making is poignant and moving.
