Rating: Summary: A Favorite Review: I have read many books before, but The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis is my favorite. First I like it because it has many different conflicts. It has both internal and external conflicts such as Edmund versus himself and Aslan versus the white witch. Another reason is the setting. It, the story, takes place in Narnia, A mythical place where animals talk, and trees are alive. The story also takes place in England At a mansion dating back centuries . To conclude, I hope you see why The Lion, The Witch , and The Wardrobe is my favorite book.
Rating: Summary: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Review: My favorite book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe conflicts in a land called Narnia. The best part in the book is when Aslan, the king of Narnia, dies and comes back to life. When he dies, it is written in a book, that if you don't do anything wrong, you can come back to life. All of the children thought he was dead. When they looked up to see the body of Aslan , it was gone. The children jumped for joy when they seen him moving around. Another reason I like this book is the way the author, C.S. Lewis, makes Narnia sound so real. In Narnia all the beasts can talk and some of them are half human and half horse. Last but not least, I like this book because it is parallel to the Bible. If you read this book, a bad thing happens and a good thing comes out at the end. I have read some of the Bible, and that is what happens. Those are just a few reasons that you should read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Rating: Summary: The Lion, the Witch, the Wardrobe Review: A Fabulous book that catches that boringness that could be invading your life right now and tosses it out. Four siblings- Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy-discover a land unbelievable to the people who have only heard. This land is full of rich enchantment of a dream, but it is under the controll of the horrible White Witch who claims to be the queen of the wonderous land of Narnia. These four kids are claimed to be the end of all the evil in the land so the Witch wants to destroy, but the great, untamed lion-Aslan-has returned to put all things to right, yet will he come, or is it just a rumor. Answers are packed in the book so go and get it because this book is so the best. Don't forget the rest of the series though, it's all the greatest.
Rating: Summary: best in its series Review: This was the first book to be written in the Narnia series. It is also the best. I highly recommend it.4 siblings go to live with relatives far from their original home. Lucy, the youngest one, explores a wardrobe, and ends up in Narnia. She brings the other 3 in with them. The children learn of the White Witch, who cruelly rules Narnia, making it snowy and icy all year. They go to her castle, where everybody is frozen. Along with the help of Aslan the Lion, they must defeat her.
Rating: Summary: Children and Adults alike will enjoy this... Review: Someone read this book to me as a child and although I forgot the name, I never forgot the tale. I was pleasently surprised when I discovered the book as an adult. It was even better than I remembered it as a child. This creative work is an alegory of the gospel in the form of a modern children's fairy tale. The story itself is very entertaining. The allegory simply adds to the value of the book. Aspects of this story pronounce parts of the gospel people overlook or grow numb to. It serves as an excellent introduction or supplement to the gospel for adults and children alike. This is clearly the best of the Narnia series and an excellent place to begin. The publishers have numbered the books according to thier setting in Narnian time, but this book was published first.
Rating: Summary: A brilliant production Review: The audio drama version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is nothing short of brilliant, and worthy of the classic book it is adapted from. Lovingly produced by Focus on the Family Radio Theater, it features an exceptional cast of voice actors, spot-on writing, amazing sound effects, a beautiful original music score, and production quality that simply sets the standard for audio drama. Pretty much everything is done right. The script is extremely faithful to the book, nothing watered down, nothing altered, often down to narrating C.S. Lewis's rich descriptions word-for-word. The pacing is perfect, never dragging, but long enough to savor the story's sweetness. (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe fills two CDs to capacity; some of the later books fill three.) The voice actors were picked from some of the top British talent, and even the children give incredible performances. And of course, Lewis's Christian faith, so central to the Narnia stories, is ever-present, never insulting the listener's intelligence with in-your-face self-interpretation, but flowing richly through the story itself as in the books. Though usually classified as children's stories, the Chronicles of Narnia do contain some scary scenes, which are done vividly and without apology in this audio drama. Indeed, the far-fetched cheesiness often associated with modern children's cinema is largely absent here, replaced with a simple sensitivity and honesty reminiscent of the classic Disney films, making it enjoyable, on its own merits, to any age group. The only down side to these dramas is that they will spoil you. I've recently bought and listened to several other audio dramatizations, including the Left Behind series, and though many are fine productions, I've never been able to truly enjoy them, simply because they've paled in comparison to the perfection that is Focus on the Family's adaptation of the Narnia series. And although I love film, I've now lost interest in any Narnia film project, for no film could possibly bring Narnia to life the way that these pictureless dramas have. I bought The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe out of curiosity while browsing in a bookstore a few years ago, and it hooked me instantly. Since then, I've bought each new drama as it's come out (as of this writing, The Silver Chair, the sixth out of seven, has just been released), and each title has lived up to and even surpassed the sky-high standards set by the first. Ecstatically recommended, without reservation.
