Rating: Summary: THe Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Review: A long time ago, four children found a magical world beyond (what they thought was) an ordinary wardrobe. This magical world led them to many adventures in a magical place called Narnia. I read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in less than 1 week and that was the fastest i read a book because it was so interesting and captivating. This is now 1 of my favorite books. I recommend that others read this book and like it as i did to. I enjoyed reading this because it was so captivating. My favorite character is Aslan. Aslan is very courageous, and caring to others. My second favorite character is Lucy. Lucy was the first to enter Narnia. At the end, Lucy was named something very special. My least favorite character is the White Witch. She was my least favrite because she is evil. She also turned things to stone. She was truly an evil witch. My second least favorite character is Edmund, at the beginning. He lied and could have gotten his brother and sisters killed.Edmund became a better person in the end. My favorite part was when Aslan's army were battling the White Witch's army. I also liked when Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy were given a special position in Narnia My least favorite part was when Edmund entered the wardrobe. When he entered Narnia he met the White Witch. Edmund decided to betray his brother and sisters and take them to the White Witch. Then when he got out of Narnia he lied and said he had never been there. I enjoyed The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I would recommend it to anyone who has an imagination. I liked it because it had vivid details and it was imaginative. It was also full of great characters kids can relate to. Since the characters were kids our age and the setting was an imaginary place it made it more fun to read. Since the book is so good i would like to read the other series that connect to this book by C. S. Lewis. So be sure to read The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe.
Rating: Summary: Never too late! Review: Having seen the animated version of this book at the age of about ten, I had always wanted to read the series. I eventually stumbled across a copy twenty years later; now a teacher and a mother...and I was completely hooked! Although all the books were primarily written for children, I would strongly urge adult readers to pick up a copy of any or all in the series. CS Lewis possessed a remarkable imagination, and he has very cleverly crafted the Christian story into this tale of magic and fantasy. The book opens with a game of hide and seek; the start of a journey of discovery for four British children over an otherwise dreary holiday with a reclusive professor. They enter the world of Narnia through a cupboard and discover a faun, a lion, a witch and a whole cast of interesting characters. The book covers themes such as lying, loyalty and unselfishness in a healthy and consequential way. What is so nice about this book, is that it can be read as part of the Chronicles of Narnia, or simply enjoyed as a masterpiece in itself. What I enjoyed most about The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (and the others in the Narnia series) is the way in which Lewis was able to portray the Lion, Aslan (Christ). He managed to give him a devastating sense of power and even anger, while never losing the love, humility and gentleness that captivated the four children. On a deeper level there are many underlying spiritual themes that would take more than a review to get into! Once I had closed the last book, I wanted to embark on a whole series of cross-curricular lessons and hit the closest school! It was inspiring.
Rating: Summary: An enjoyable adaptation Review: I love this BBC version of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." The story is a classic, and this script is very true to the book. The production is very well done, like most of the BBC's audio theatre. The voice actors do a great job, and actual children play the four kids. The various accents of the British Isles are on display, which adds a realistic touch. Music and sound effects are well used to evoke mood and excitement. Imagination is one of the main benefits of radio theater, and the BBC knows how to do it right. The White Witch is terrible. Aslan is good, but not safe. I think that they have produced, or are currently producing, the entire series as audio dramas. I will definitely be looking into the others.
Rating: Summary: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe Review: I liked the book because it was imaginative and vivid with the details. It was also full of great characters that have personalities that kids can relate to. The best part of the book would have to be when the kids, Aslyn, and the animals from Narnia battle the White Witch and her followers. The story elements that I think were used the best in the book were the main characters and the setting. The main characters were kids around our age and had the same basic attitudes that kids our age have today if we were in the same situations. The setting was also a good thing about the book because it was set in an imaginary place that was full of adventure.
Rating: Summary: What A Good Book! Review: This book is fabolus, captivating and enriching! Above all it is simply a good story, intreguing but not impossible to put down on you night stand when the time comes to get some shut eye. The children who the book revolved around were an amazing blend of innocence and intelligence that made them seem as if they could have been the kids next door. Their chemistry is enough to make anyone wish for a chance on thir adventures. Narnia, a fantastical world, happens to be the site of the children's exciting escipades. One can end up there by steping into a magicial wardrobe. The evil white witch is the ruler of the land who is eventually overthrown by the children and their friends that they make along the way. There are many exciting plot twists that make C.S. Lewis' book well worth the read! Hope you enjoy it!
Rating: Summary: Narnia and Beyond Review: This book is about four English school children that venture into new and interesting places. They were sent to an old professor because of a dangerous war. On a rainy day the children wander around the house looking from room to room curiously. When they enter a room with nothing but a wardrobe they decide to move on, except for Lucy that is. As she enters the world of Narnia she meets new friends and interesting creatures. The hard part for her is to get her siblings to believe her. When her siblings are convinced the other adventures will amaze and excite you to read more C.S Lewis books. This book is packed with fun and exciting adventures. I would recommend this book for people who love to have adventures and feel like that there right in the book.
