Summary: The absolute best series of all time (in my opinion)
Review: I first read Dragon Prince years ago, and reread it this year. Never has a book pulled me in so thouroughly. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the rest of the Dragon Prince trilogy, and then move on to the Dragon Star trilogy. Ms. Rawn's characters are full of life and personality. I knew that I could completely escape to their world. I was quite distraught when i recently finished the entire series, and I knew there would be no more to come. More than once have I wished I could become a Sunrunner! Or a sorcerer ;-) I recommend these books to anyone who loves to read books that pull and tug at your emotions. Every book is different, except for the family that seems to stay together through it all. We want more, Ms. Rawn! :-)

Summary: Turly one the best books you will ever read
Review: Dragon prince is truly excellent book, rivaled only by the books that follow in the series. Melien Rawn Is truly my favorite author of all time. And yes I think her work is far better than Tolken. After reading her all books this truly her best work and I hope she finishes her new book THE CAPITALS TOWER soon, there is so little that you can even compare to her work!

Summary: What can I say? Wonderous...
Review: Magic, strong female characters, multi-faceted characters that are well developed, a character you can relate too no matter who you are, dragons, princely politics at it's best, love, family, heartache, struggles, war, fantasy, sunrunners...if you like any or all of that...you must read Ms. Rawn's book, and continue with the series. Ms Rawn isn't an author to turn out books like other famous authors (Lackey, Eddings) that are short with no substance. Her books have thought and content that will grip ahold of you and not let your heart and mind go. These thick books will hold your attention for a while, not for someone looking for simple, no plot reading. How you could NOT read these books, I don't know. No, she isn't perfect, I won't give her that, you wouldn't trust my review if I did. But trust me in this- give Ms. Rawn a chance, you won't regret it.

To address the past negative comments:

One sided characters? These characters are the best developed people I've seen- logical, realistic, thought provoking, multi-sided. I dont' see how you could think otherwise!

Another facet of this book...it states perfectly my definition of love. (And no, the book isn't a romance novel by any means.) I often find myself quoting the book to find the correct heartening words!

And the politics being the downfall of the book? Not even...they add to it's plot and thickness ten fold!

The characters being just good or bad? NO! Look at Pandasala, read more on Rohan, see Sioned's reactions in later books, take a second glimpse at Andry...and Pol, good and bad in one person has never been so interesting!

And to you Ms. Rawn...thank you for writing a series that I could get into and look forward to reading. Thank you also for your definition of Love...you have brought me my husband because of it and your books! (Seriously!) Keep up the great work, continue improving, and thank you for your personal treatment of your fans!

Summary: Fantasic Book
Review: If you ever read this book I can promise that you will run out and buy Melanie Rawn's other 5 books. She will keep you laughing and crying and in tune with the characters. Dragon Prince is one book that you will read in one sitting. It is the story of a prince, his Sunrunner Witch of a wife and their Struggle for survial. A must read!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Hated it.
Review: The characters are totally unconvincing, and the story is predictable. Melanie Rawn is a truly great author, but if this had been the first book of hers I had read, I would have never known it.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Talent marred by politics
Review: When I buy a fantasy book, it's to ecape our world, not read political opinions of fantasy writers. While I give credit to Miss Rawn for her talent it's sad that she had to ruin a good fantasy story, and well crafted world by turning the final book into a political document. If I had known that the purpose of her books was to promote a Pro-choice / Anti-Church agenda, I never would have given Miss Rawn a dime. This is a good example of how to lose readers, both for the author and the publisher.

Summary: A Short Response to the Criticism
Review: Of all the many books I have read (with perhaps the exception of _A Game of Thrones_ by George R.R. Martin), _Dragon Prince_ captivated me the most. In my opinion it is the best of Melanie's books, and one of the most intricate. The characters are _not_ one-dimensional (as some have declared so loudly) and the world she creates is extremely detailed. I never actually intended to write a review of this book, because I feel that there are plenty of representative reviews here. But I have to take unction with one or two reviewers who claim Roelstra was a wimpy, one-dimensional villain. I thought Roelstra was one of the best crafted villains I've seen in quite a while. He is not obvious; his plotting is done quite deviously. And to anyone who claims he wasn't wicked enough (don't read further if you don't want the plot spoiled!), I think that a person willing to hold back dranath to ensure the deaths of his enemies (as well as untold innocents), or someone who has no problem permanently laying waste to the land to slow down an army is a pretty villainous person.

I also ask those who rate books with one star to give detailed reasons for their decision. In most cases, it seemed these reviewers probably hadn't read the book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: fairly good
Review: I enjoyed it, even though the author added alot of unnecessary details, and it got really long towards the end.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Best!
Review: I have read all the comments above and I have to agree with them 101%. Ms. Rawn writes a facinating and wonderful story. From the first book to the last of the Second Series, there is a broad mixture of romance, love, intrigue, suspense....on and on. Ms Rawn binds it all so well and I wish to thank her for giving me such pleasure, you have a wonderful talent....may you long continue to write.

PS. Any chance of more of Dragon Prince Saga....would love to find out what Meig has in store for the future :-) If anyone wishes to talk about Ms. Rawn's books, I have set up an IRC channel called #Rialla

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful!
Review: The characters are realistic- you love some, hate others, and share their emotions. You can actually cry at some points.
