Summary: Goddess By Mistake is Enthralling
Review: My favorite bookstore manager recommended this book saying that it was the first book her father tried to take before she could finish it. After reading it, I readily understood why it has cross-generational appeal.

Ms Cast has created a wonderful book that transports the reader to a magical world of fantasy. The characters, the setting, and the conflicts are vividly drawn and enthralling. There is a strong theme of love and loyalty throughout the book. The caring and love that develops between the heroine and her shapeshifting centaur husband is especially well written, but not to the detriment of the action part of the story.

For me, a truly good book is one that captures my attention to the point that all else fades away. This one does and it is one of the few books that I plan to read again.

Summary: Goddess By Mistake
Review: Moments ago I finished reading Goddess By Mistake, I truly enjoyed every line P.C. Cast wrote. I thought Shannon/Rhea was hilarious and the storyline was so unpredictable I really was not sure what was going to happen next. Thank you so much for your imagination and helping me to bring myth and magic back into my life.

Summary: A voice of dissent
Review: Am I the only person on the face of Earth who thought this book was tedious? I was not able to finish it. It flunked the Finish-able Book Test, which means that if I put it down for a couple of days and find no desire to pick it back up, I don't bother wasting my time.

Shannon, a schoolteacher from Oklahoma, gets zapped by magic into the mythical world of Partholan, where she ends up worshipped as a priestess, married to an attractive shapeshifter, and embroiled in a war with the truly nasty and evil Fomorians. I liked the premise. Unfortunately, the cover blurb was more interesting than the actual novel.

First of all, the mythology is sloppy as heck. I tried to get over this, accept that the book is a comedy loosely based on mythology, but it still bugged me that Cast can't keep her folklore straight. Priestesses of Epona are mixed with Greek-style nymphs and centaurs. The result is that the book ends up feeling shallow rather than deep, fluffy rather than rooted in an ancient mythology. I wouldn't have minded if she had made up her own mythology. It was the myth-in-a-blender that gave me a headache.

And speaking of shallow, the heroine seems unable to endure a single page of text without brooding about her weight or her hair. I can understand doing a little bit of this--it makes her seem more real at first. However, you'd think that after a few days in the mythical world, she would have figured out there are bigger concerns than whether her thighs are fat. I've already seen Bridget Jones.

I guess this book isn't bad, per se--it just didn't interest me all that much.

Summary: partisan romance
Review: A clever tale hampered by a protagonist who - though fully experiencing the fruits and flavors of a mythical world - breaks the narrative with often jarring revelations of her Republican political bias. Things get theologically tangled as she deals with problem of vampire/human fetuses.

Summary: I Loved This Book!
Review: Looking at the cover of this book and just reading the back blurb doesn't do it justice. Although the bare bones plot sounds absurd - a 35 year old high school English teacher is transported into an alternate dimension where she unwillingly takes the place of a High Priestess and is forced to wed a Centaur, and then fight a battle against unrelenting Evil - this book was entertaining, well-written, witty, romantic, and often hilarious. The most important thing, though, is that the characters were realistic and true to themselves, no matter what form they took, and despite what might appear to be an absurd situation. So much so that by the end of the book, the reader totally accepts the premise and buys into the world that was created.

Shannon Parker is the teacher we all would be if we could: never overwhelmed by classroom problems/behaviors, taking perverse satisfaction in giving out tests to high schoolers and enjoying their dismay, and living for summer vacation. In her role as the High Priestess, she carries on as she normally would, using the skills that teaching a bunch of 16 year olds has taught her. Her relationship with her Centaur husband, ClanFintan, answers all those questions a reader might have asked about certain physical aspects of things. You've also got to love a character who refers to her husband's Centaur guards as "the horsies'.

This entire book was just a joy to read and is going onto my keeper shelf. I'll definitely keep an eye out for P.C. Cast's next book!

Summary: Tall, Dark and Centaurian...My type of Man!
Review: This book started out with a school teacher, Shannon Parker, going to an auction and finding, then buying, an item that caught her eye. This item is responsible for her being pulled into an alternate world/universe and taking the place of Rhiannon, a goddess. Shannon is beyond confused at first only to find out that she is getting married immediately to someone she has never met before. When she finally meets this "man" is surprised, to say the least. Everything works out for them though and it turns out to be a perfect match. Of course you have a little trouble mixed into all that happiness... :)

I would have to say that this book had it all. A little romance, mystery, sci-fi, myth..everything. It was definatly a great read! :)

Summary: WOW!! What a BLAST!!!! YOU MUST READ !!
Review: ...I can only say buy it, have your funnybones well-oiled, set back and ENJOY!!!!

This is a book that might easly fall through the cracks for I don't think they have invented the perfect catagory for it. PLEASE don't let the stop you. This is one of the Best books I have ever read.

Shannon Parker, 35 year old School teacher from Oklahoma buys an ancient Celtic death vase, and suddenly her life is not the same - actually, is NOT her life. She awakens in a strange fantasy life where ancient Celtic mythology is very much real. Rhinnanon the High Priest of the Goddess Epona, has traded places with Shannon. And this presents her with all sorts of problems. Like having to fill the shoes of someone no so nice, like finding her people under the threat of the vampire race of Formorians - and most perplexing, she is wed to a cenatur!!!!

Okay, all that is fine and thrilling premise, but is it Shannon's first person overview of all that is happening to her that makes this more than fantasy, more than romance. It is down right, belly-laughing funny the WHOLE Way!!!

I will not spoil the rest of the story, for it is there for you to thoroughly enjoy.

PC Cast...you are brilliant!!!!!!
