Rating: Summary: One of the best I have ever read!!! Review: From what I have seen written from these other people opinions, they have no respect. I for one love this book. It had love, passion, and magic. I want to read the next one in the series. And the womans name is Shandril Shessair not Shadril or Shandril Tessir! Mr. Greenwood I hold a deep respect for you and your work. I had a baby girl 6 months ago and my husband and I named her Shandril Marie. I love the name.
Rating: Summary: Disgusting! How can anyone publish this? Review: This book was so awful, I wouldn't know where to start. Let me just say this: I liked absolutley nothing about this novel. Writing it was a vile thing to do, publishing it and letting it out on an unsuspecting public is attempted genocide.
Rating: Summary: Avoid! Review: Appalling. I read the first 20 pages or so and quit. I couldn't bear to sit through it. Read Salvatore, Cunningham, or Anthony for good realms novels.
Rating: Summary: A book that captures your attention. Review: I truely enjoyed the book. Ed kept me indulged in the book. I couldn't hardly put it down. The way that Ed describes Shadril's powers, and even how she came across them is interesting. If you love medieval stories, this is a good one to buy!! I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to read about the Realms.
Rating: Summary: Ed Greedwood is a poor writer. Review: Ed Greenwook uses to many super powerful hero's villians to make his books even remotly interesting. You don't care about the characters and its a slow read. I suggest somthing from R.A. Salvitore instead.
Rating: Summary: Okay Ed. Stop right there! Review: Ed Greenwood in the role of a Dungeon Master after he has run full speed against a wall. Twice! It is kinda cute the way he describes the spells and what goes on in Shandril Tessir. But I don't want to read a Forgotten Realms novel to my children as a good night story, I want to read it myself. And boy oh boy is it fun to see a woman become invincible and kill even the most powerful dracoliches with a cock of her eyebrow. *yawn* Yeah about as exciting as Narm is brave. What a wuss! He wants to be with Shandril for the rest of his life? Hey Narm, I bet you don't want to be around her when it is THAT time of month, know what I mean? I hold Ed Greenwood in deep respect as creator of the Forgotten Realms and thought "Okay, hey he'll learn". Boy was I optimistic! Yeah he learned allright! To make his characters even more invincible and therefore his stories even less exciting! ("Elminster: the Making of a Mage" and "Stormlight"). The most horrible aspect of this story is that is not yet over! Yes, Ed does it again in "Crown of Fire". You'll love it! NOT!Divination P.S.TWO A RON, could it be that you reviewed "Crown of Fire" instead of "Spellfire"?
Rating: Summary: Should be called an adventure accessory instead of a novel Review: This "novel" lacks the depth of other TSR books. It seems to be taken directly from a AD&D adventure: I don't like to read details about spells like a quote from the Dungeon Masters Guide. It is ok on a game but not on a novel. On a novel you describe the effects of a spell, not its name. The rest of the book follows the same style. Use it as a draft for a role play adventure. If you want a real good novel, apart from the classics, try Nightwatch, also from TSR.
Rating: Summary: A bad role-playing session is better than this atrocity. Review: Oh, the irony of life...Ed Greenwood, like so many creators of vast literary universes, makes marvelous worlds, but when it comes down to breathing life into his creations, he fails to capture the essence that belongs to the inhabitants of this world. This book stinks so badly because it has no sense of characterization. The action in the book reminded me of a novice dungeon master setting up his first campaign to a group of first time players who don't want a good storyline, just a simple hack-and-slash scenario. If you want a good read, try R. A. Salvatore's Dark Elf Series. If you want to lower your mental capacity, read Spellfire...the garanteed lobotomy for fantasy lovers everywhere.
Rating: Summary: Great Novel! Review: When Shandril leaves her hometown of Highmoon for adventure, she gets it allright. After she assists in destroying a magic-eating creature called a balhiir, she awakens in herself the ability to throw spellfire-raw magical energy. Pretty soon the Zhentarim, the Cult of the Dragon, and the priests of Bane are after her for her spellfire. It's up to Elminster and the Knights of Myth Drannor to defend her until she is ready to accept her destiny. The Realms date is -1PR
Rating: Summary: A damn good book Review: First, let me say this: I loved this book before I realized it was a sequal to Spellfire. After eading the first book, this one made much more sense. owever, it was a great book by itself. Shandrill trying to cope with the power she now weildsall the while facing danger from the Zentarim and the Malugrym (don't they ever give it up?) come together to form a great plot line. Some of the love scenes were boring (scratch that, they ALL were!) but they were easy to skip past. Torm and Rathan added the much needed humor to the story.
