Summary: My GOD!!!!
Review: Well this was my first fantasy novel ever read. I cannot believe how boring it was. I think this book should be in the romance section because it really didn't feel like fantasy. And the battle seens only lasted for a few pages, the rest of the book is full of people crying, everybody talking about shandril and her god forsaken spellfire, and narm and shandril sending oogly googly comments to each other. make me puke. i can't believe I read the whole book. Maybe i'll read a different FR book, but nothing by ed greenwood. Anybody suggest any "good" books to read?

Summary: Ummm.. No.
Review: A book that has its moments, but everything seemed to perfect. Dragons, dracolichs, baatezu and other powerful creatures were being destroyed, killed, mutilated etc. and that somehow ruined the book. The main characters (the Knights, Elminster) do not face an actual challenge other than different monsters and characters. Shandril did face a certain problem about controlling her powers, but with companions like the Knights of Myth Drannor and Elminster, it always seemed as if there was nothing that could go wrong, even if she blundered big time. An average novel, novels that practically anyone can write, not only Ed Greenwood. Can't really blame him, for he receives an outline of the story TSR wants, and then he creates a more detailed plot along that line

Summary: The other books are okay, but definitely skip this one
Review: I thought this would have been a really good book when I skimmed through the beginning at the bookstore, but this is probably one of the worst fantasy books I ever read. One of the worst this about this book is that most of it's about how Shandril and her boyfriend drool around each other and there isn't a lot of excitment. If you're going to read the Forgotten Realms, you're going to want to skip this one.

Summary: I'm speechless, but in a bad way.
Review: The book starts with potential, but drops off somewhere when you realize that the author has no concept of story structure. I must admit, he gets better with his next books, but this one really needs to be rewritten. I have to be honest and admit that the cool cover made me buy it. Shame on me, but good marketing from TSR.

Summary: The name is NARM...........you Witch!
Review: This was the very first Forgotten Realms book I read. And to tell you the truth, I did enjoy it. It is a tale of Shan finding her internal gift. Almost like Neo finally realizing that he was the "the one" in the Matrix. Even though many people will put down this book and attempt to dismiss the love tale within, it. Other will enjoy it like me and read it more than once. I still have my copy way back from the early 90's. I suggest you purchase this book for yourself, you will enjoy it.

Summary: This book doesnt really deserve 1 star...
Review: but thats the worst I can give it. This book is incredibly awful. Reading is the wrong word, suffering through it is more appropriate. It is the typical Ed Greenwood novel of a big, bad, evil, and largely unknown force chasing down a person who is largely helpless except for one special power. Anyway, trust me, if this had been the first FR novel I read, I would never have read another.

IT IS AWFUL!

Summary: A Great Book
Review: I believe that this book is one of the best books I've seen out so far. It's the only one of Ed Greenwood's books that I've read, but it puts him on my top 5 authors list instantly in #3. I believe that after reading more novels, he'll reach even #2. The romance between Narm and Shandril is well played out, and he works well with the Realms, not changing to much of true history there. Keep up the good work!

Summary: This book needs a decent review
Review: This was the first fantasy book I actually bought, and is also the only Forgotten Realms book I ever read. It set the theme for all the fantasy books I now read.

This is a book about a lonely orphaned girl named Shadril who knows nothing about her parentage, and the man who raised her gives nothing away. So she sets off to find her fortune with a small band of fighters. Shandril's character is amazing because Mr. Greenwood gives her no special treatment; she is not exactly given to the wandering ways...she shows nothing but bravery, in fact. Later her talents and parentage are revealed.

This book does have its downsides, such as the insipid love story complete with a drooling inept mage apprentice, and the abounding "kinship" felt all around, but you get past all that! She has powers and people want to use her! There are battles with dragons, two to be precise, there are the usual favorites (Elminster, the Simbul, Myth Drannor and its faithful Knights); there is even enough magic use for the die hards.

I believe that the true Forgotten Realms fans will wade through the syrup and enjoy this book for the adventure that it is!

Summary: A very nice yarn that was well met
Review: I found that this story was fast paced, interesting, and a nice 2 day read. I enjoyed it very much. Had a nice ending that didn't leave me hanging, but left off at a place for a nice fallow up story. A very good selection for a beginer or for an old hand at the Fantasy Adventure reading.

Summary: Bad
Review: I got to page 113 before I threw the book in the trash. It's static, confusing, nasty in a nasty way, stupid, and not worth the paper and ink it took to make this thing. Nice cover though.

Oh yes... very trashy indeed.
