Rating: Summary: You'll Laugh; You'll Cry. Review: Wonderfully written. I have read all of her books and loved them. This wasn't as good as the the rest of them, though. Glennin's character wasn't developed much during the book. I am used to Ms. Rawn's way of explaning and elaborating BOTH sides of the story. Also I was disappionted by the way Glennin played faithful servant to the Weaver. But other than that and the sad ending I loved it. Melanie Rawn is still my favorite!
Rating: Summary: What Is Going To Happen?!! Review: Am I the only one who cares what is going to happen with Gorsha and Casha? Forget Joss I want her to end up with Gorsha Calet is too hurt to have a relashonship wile she is alive but when she is doing that out of body thing she dose not have any truble being atracted to Gorsha!
Rating: Summary: Intrigue, emotion and suspense? In a S.F./Fantasy setting? Review: Far too often, this genre focusses on a set formula of magic, a quest, resolution, some bloody battles - it's rare to discover an author who consistently offers a full spectrum of what life has to offer within the setting of this type of novel. I have found that Melanie Rawn is a master of luring in the reader to become a part of her books in such a way that every event portrayed has a real impact. This book, as well as the first in the series, has something for everyone - the evil traitor, the handsome priince and princess, mysterious companions and secrets. Plus, the characters are fleshed out - everyone is flawed in some way that makes them easy to identify it. The story is gripping - I can't wait to find out what happens! If you like these and need something to tide you over until the next release try out Rawn's earlier two series.
Rating: Summary: pretty good tale Review: Hey, what can I say - I liked it (even though the latest in "The Dark Tower" series distracted me for a couple of days). And what makes all of you think Collan is really dead? Wouldn't it just be like Glenin to lie about something like that? Let's see what the next book has to offer.
Rating: Summary: Melanie Rawns Exiles Series is AMASING Review: I absolutly loved this book it was the best....i really did feel that Collan shoud not have dies tho...he was my favorite...Is there any one who DOESNT want to know what happened to Collan...i think not...she is soo good at weaving her spell that when collan dies i actually cried and couldnt stop. i read a lot and it is rare that i can find something so enthralling as this series Thank you Melanie ^_^.p.s Is there Any way to find out the release date for her next book (captals tower) PLEASE e-mail me!!
Rating: Summary: Riveting, if sad Review: The first book I read by Melanie Rawn was The Ruins of Ambrai. I have currently read this book about ten times, and still find it fascinating. When Ms. Rawn's new book was published, I bought it right away. I found the book very interesting, and would have rated it a solid ten until Collan's death. I was stunned that such a key character could be killed in a trice. My feelings do merit Ms. Rawn's writing style- Col's death made me feel sad, which shows that Ms. Rawn was able to draw me into her book. However, I did not understand Who Collan Was. I am hoping that this question will be answered in Rawn's next book: What was Col's Name and heritage?
Rating: Summary: I think that Melanie Rawn writes the best fantasy books. Review: I think that Melanie Rawn should write a lot more books. I loved her first Exiles book and am hoping to get the next one very soon. Her books, to the reader, are not really fantasy once you start reading. They become real in your mind. I actually felt like I was in the book watching the characters. Also, her books are funny. Melanie Rawn's books are so good that I think everyone should be required to read them.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable breadth and depth. Review: With each novel Melanie Rawn draws you more and more into her world. The complexity of characters and their interactions with each other challenges the mind to grapple with the plot and bring it under submission. This novel is not for the light reader. However, if you enjoy complexity and a masterful tail, this is the novel for you.
Rating: Summary: disappointment in an avid reader of Rawn Review: Being only fifteen years old I haven't the same reading experiences as some. But, I was very disappointed in Rawn's newest book. She was my gateway into fantasy and I have enjoyed all her work published with the exception of her new book. In her new book I actually knew what was going to happen to the characters before it happened because of the striking simalarity to her other series. I also felt that she tried to 'tackle' to many issues in her book such as child rights, and sexism... making the book a little rough around the edges. I more than likely will buy her next book whenever it comes out ( does anyone know when it does?? ) just in the hopes that it is equal to her other stuff. If anyone knows any books that I would enjoy that are similar to Rawn's past books I would be grateful if you e-mailed me since I don't have much time to browse.-christine
Rating: Summary: A great continuation with a sad ending. Review: When I finished The Ruins of Ambrai I ran out and bought this book right away. I wasn't disapointed. We get an all new villin, Glenin's son, but we have to figure out which one of two boys he is. It adds a great amount of suspence to have this mysytery undertoning a great story. We also get to meet Sarra and Collan's twins, Taigan and Mikel. They are really fun characters and we get to watch as they grow up during the course of the book from first loves to their first tradgedies, and their first experiences with magic. This book has great new characters, adn of course it has all of our old friends. It does have a sad ending though as two of the main characters die! you'll have to read to find out ewhich ones, and this development will definatly have an effect on the third book. I can't believe that I have to wait so long to read it, but it's going to be worht it
