Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Review: This is THE book for any true Star Wars fan. It introduces important characters and gives insight into their relationship. Obi-Wan's initial reaction to Anakin is intriging considering what we know about their future. Most important it gives us true fans insight into the past of the Sith order and the origin of the Force, an important element in the Star Wars universe. I also think that Jar Jar is getting a bad rap. his is an important role in the book. He acts as a comic relief, much like C-3PO did in the original trilogy. I was also thrilled to read about the Republic Senate and the Jedi Council, two important bodies in the new trilogy. This novel hasn't ruined anything for me. Actually, I want to see the film more now than ever, if that's at all possible. The ending was absolutely fantastic. I don't want to give anything away, but if you pay attention to the first trilogy you can pretty much guess what will happen at the end of this book. The whole experience was outstanding and the film promises to be even more so.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait for the sequel! Review: This book is so great - I checked it out the library and read it in one day! Contrary to one of the critics below, I thought the book was very well written and the story very interesting even if you've never seen or read any of the Star Wars movies or books. It's a great introduction to a wonderful series. It left me wanting to hurry George Lucas along with the sequel just so I can know what happens next. I know how it will eventually end, but I'd like to know how it gets there! As far as I'm concerned this is the greatest compliment I could pay both the writer/creator and the book's writer - since having "read the end of the book," so to speak, I want to rush back and read the beginning and the middle! If you're not a fan, you'll enjoy a story mixed with drama, adventure, mystery, intrigue, fantasy and, of course, science fiction. But most of all, you'll become involved in these people's lives and you'll want to know more... If you're a fan, the book fills in a lot of the blanks about where the characters come from and how they got to be who they are and where they are later in the series... I especially liked the insight it gave to Anakin Skywalker (later to be Darth Vader). The story was a little sad because you know this sweet little boy isn't going to grow up to have a great life, but it shows how people are shaped by their childhoods and the choices they make because of them. I was held captive by the personal dramas and the political intrigues, by the action and the visualization of one of the best fantasy books I've read in a very long time. I almost dread seeing the movie - I have such a clear picture of the story in my head that I hate to risk losing it. I can't wait for the sequel! And PLEASE get the same writer for the next book!
Rating: Summary: It was an awesome stroy, with vivid images. Review: It was probably the best book I have EVER read. The details included were amazing.
Rating: Summary: The best star wars adventure to date Review: This is just a amazing adventure from start to finish,so much so that when you pick the book up you will find it hard to put down.I recomend it to any Star Wars fan
Rating: Summary: Outstanding!!! Review: TFM is a great book!! I am a Star Wars fan and I read the book in 3 days. True, the plot might move quickly here and there, but as far as story goes, I love it. And what more can you say? It's a prequel, so those who know Star Wars will have a better time reading this book than those who don't. And I found it enjoyable comparing the scenes from the trailers onto the text I had just read. That's how I know the movie should do well. But please, forget all the hype, forget all the expectations, and just focus on the story.
Rating: Summary: Put the hype in perspective Review: Terry Brooks is a wonderful author. Anyone who's read some of his previous works will more than likely testify to that. This unfortunately is not a Terry Brooks novel. Let's put this in perspective -- Lucas owns everything to do with Star Wars. He controls every aspect of the project, the novelization of the screenplay included. This is not a book meant to be a grand elaboration of the movie. It's simply a sophisticated version of the movie. Please don't look at this title as a literary work -- and anyone claiming that it was a well written book becase it "really moved by quickly" may want to read a little more often. This is part of the money making machine (of which I'll contribute to without problem). The way I see it, yeah, the book is childish and shallow, but if you liked the story, you'll love the movie.
Rating: Summary: One Great Book Review: This book is GREAT!If you decide to read it before the movie warps onto cinema screens around the world, it will give the thoughts from the fatherly Qui-Gon Jinn to the evil Darth Maul. The biggest problem is when you do go to the movies, you'll know EVERYTHING!!!
Rating: Summary: Two thumbs up!! Review: In my opinion this piece of true Americana is repleat with interesting characters and an enless array of thoughtfull diatribes. Littered with Shakespearean solliquoys, this masterpiece must not go unread or be ranked with the listless trash of yesterday, today, or tomorrow; It must be elevated above and beyond all. Shame on all who do not take a few hours of their meaningless lives to enrich themselves with this literal masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't turn the light off!!!! Review: This story is a well written piece of entertainment. It isn't Dune but that isn't neccessarily a bad thing. It is a classic story told with with a vivid imagination. It fits wonderfully into the Star Wars Universe.
Rating: Summary: was good but could have been so much better Review: In the book the storyline was great, but my only quarral came with the author. Sometimes I felt like he was just copying it all from the script, and the only thing that kept me reading was my interest on what the movie would be like. George Lucas did a great job writing it but Terry Brooks could have improved. Brooks never elaborated but just gave the bare minimum every time. I am definately still going to see the movie, but I cant help feel a little dissapointed in the description of the book that could have been written so much better. If you want to know the storyline in the movie read the book, but if you want to read a good novel, look to another Star Wars title.
