Summary: Exciting, suspenseful, and awfully hard to put down!
Review: Phantom Menace by Terry Brooks was just as captivating and exciting as George Lucas' masterful motion picture. The novel had a few new surprises and scenes that were not present in the movie version, creating a new thrill for those who had already seen the movie. The writing was very detailed and strung together with fluidity. Any gaps in the motion picture were filled in quite nicely by Mr.Brooks. All in all, The Phantom Menace was a marvel to behold in both forms for Star Wars fans as well as the casual reader.

Summary: Story seemed to be rushed.
Review: Typically a fan of Terry Brooks, and just about every Star Wars book that I've read, I was disappointed with Brooks' version of Phantom Menace. The first half of the book was very detailed, and a great read. Unfortunately, from the point where he covered Anakin's pod race on, he just skimmed over the plot of the movie. In fact, the last half of the movie (at least) is covered in 100 pages of the book. If you're a die hard fan like me, you'll buy it just to have it, but if you're looking for an absorbing read, look elsewhere. On a final note, Lucas should have had Salvatore write the adaptation, at least he could have done the battle scenes justice.

Summary: STAR WARS ROCKS!!!
Review: I saw the movie on opening day and it was the best! When I went out to get the book I didn't think it would be as good as the movie...as most based-on-the-movie books are. But this book was just as good as the movie!!! It follows the storyline very well and I loved it. If you like loved the movie than you'll love this book.

Summary: George Lucas is back - in full force!
Review: The force is definitely with this book. Next to Catherine Dunne's classic INTERIOR DESIGNING FOR ALL FIVE SENSES, this is the most engaging book I've read in a long, long time. Thanks, George.

Summary: A cruel joke compared to the original three books
Review: This book is far weaker than the original three books, mainly because the story and dialogue is more shallow, mundane and cliche. I couldn't decide whether this book was meant as a parody of the original three, a comedy, a Disney story, or a Power Rangers episode. None of the subtlety, depth, sustained focus on universal human themes, and slow revelation that made the original three books so special is present in this story. The only thing good I can say about the book is that it Brooks had no choice but to strip away the orgy of cartoonish special effects that created such an incoherent, ugly galaxy in the movie.

Summary: The Best book I have ever read!
Review: this is one of the greatest books I've read. The four different covers are all great. My personal favorite is the Obi-Wan Kenobi.I think everyone who likes to read should get this book. The movie is just as good as the book. So Buy the book and see the movie.

Summary: my first star wars book and definatley worth the money
Review: this book was real sweet and i was especially pleased considering that it was my first star wars novel. previously i had believed the star wars novels to be a bunch of money making crap, but now i have changed ny mind. although the movies are still the real, its nice to have something extra that can give you greater depth into the whole story. this book was a great read and although the characters where not explored deeply, there was just enough detail to let you get to know them and like them. especially padme naberrie amidala and qui-gon jinn. some of the lines were a bit tacky, but overall this is a very minor gripe on a very cool book. i am yet to see the movie but i understand that jar jar is a real pain on screen. thankfully he comes across much better in text and does add a certain comical element that is kinda cool. i give this book a four, only because you have to leave room for the next two episodes which i expect to be even better. all props to terry brooks and george lucas for star wars, it sh*ts all over other sci-fi. peace

Summary: A must read for Star Wars fans!
Review: I would definetly read this book after seeing the movie, it would spoil it too much. Reading the book clears up so many questions concerning the movie. It gives a background of Anakin and delves more into the relationship between Anakin and Amidala/Padme'. If anyone is confused or just wants to learn more about Episode I: The Phantom Menace, you should read it. It is an easy read, and definetly a page turner!

Summary: Soooooooo Bad
Review: If you read at a fourth grade level and rarely pick up anything more involved then a menu then by all means lap up this masterpiece. Nobody expects this to be great literature but this is so bad that any editer who had read the first page of this without knowing what is was would have thrown it the garbage can. The average stage directions in a script are better written then this trash. The other Star Wars books are Pulizer prize winners next to this. Everytime I think the average American is not as dumb as the media thinks I see the public rushing after the Phantom With No Cloths and I think that's why they're rich and I'm not. As they say "no one ever lost money underestimating the public's IQ"

Summary: Hands down the best fantasy book I have ever read!
Review: I thought this book was simply awesome. I don't really even like to read all that much, but I simply could not put this book down. I would recommend this book to any Star Wars fan young and old!
