Rating: Summary: Pretty Cool Review: I guess this was one of my better Star Wars books. Eventhough I haven't seen the film yet, I can imagine, thanks to this book I know that I won't be disapointed. Terry Brooks is a very good author, and his writng is very fluid. Espacially the scene where Darth Maul, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon fight almost brought me to tears. It may sound as if I'm not too exited, but believe me, I'm screaming with exitement as I am writing this. A must read for everyone!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Companion to the Movie. Review: I think this is a great book to read after seeing the movie. I appreciate the story so much more after reading this book. It also explains things that the movie did not have a chance to cover in sufficient detail. If you just read the book without seeing the movie, I think the book will feel a bit lacking, as it does not contain much description. However, this is probably the only fault with the book. It does give insights on the story and the characters, and is VERY fun to read.
Rating: Summary: Read it before you see the movie. Review: It is very rare that I even read science fiction however being a gift, I read through in short time the Phantom Menace later to see the movie. It was interesting and drew you into the characters of the Jedi Knights much more than the movie. Overall, and enjoyable book.
Rating: Summary: I wish I would of waited to see the movie! Review: STAR WARS, Phantom Menace was a GREAT GREAT movie, but this book was for children. I was very dissapointed with the book, the description was vague, you could tell the story was taken directly from the movie (except for the Anakin & Sandpeople part), I just expected more. The movie was AWESOME, but this book is not. It is the first Star Wars book I have read that I did not enjoy.
Rating: Summary: A must read for fans. Review: This was a good book. It had some info in it that wasnt in the movie. It also had some events that didnt occur in the movie. I hope Terry Brooks writes the other episodes for Lucas also.
Rating: Summary: I wish Terry Brooks had not been the author!!!! Review: I thought the book was alright, but it was a bit childish and flat. I was disappointed Terry Brooks was the author because I think Timothy Zahn (who had written five Star Wars books and several short stories) would have done a more impressive job. The fight scenes were really good--it was too bad that Darth Maul had to die though!!!!
Rating: Summary: This poor novelization is the REAL 'Phantom Menence'! Review: It felt as if Terry Brooks had to get this one out the door in a hurry. Read it only if you're truly a 'hard-core' Star Wars fanatic, otherwise just go see the movie again. Even four different book covers couldn't save this one!
Rating: Summary: Better Than the Movie! Review: I got the book a few days ago and it was hard to put it down. After seeing the movie and reading the book you need to have experienced both.Basically it is the same as the movie but it explains a lot more about some characters in the movie. l think this book should be read by any Star Wars fan young or old.Oh Yeah may the force be with you.
Rating: Summary: Great book that fills in the gaps of Star Wars: Episode 1. Review: George Lucas allowed the author to take a bit of liberty with the story. He allowed him to add scenes here and there, which explains the story taking place in the movie for the confused. I am a Star Wars guru, but I am still trying as much as I can to be unbiased. I'd say that if Star Wars doesn't interest you, then you shouldn't buy this book. It is a good book about a great movie and if you like the Star Wars movies, this one's for you! A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Anakin Skywalker is a slave on the planet of Tatooine, which is run by the Hutts, a group of gangsters. Meanwhile, across the Trade Federation, a business nation run by the Neimodians, is protesting the Republic's taxes of trade routes by blockading a small planet called Naboo. The Supreme Chancellor has sent two Jedi knights, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, to convince the viceroy of the Neimodians to end the blockade. The Neimodians will not communicate and begin an attack on Naboo. The Jedi Knights escape with young Queen Amidala and, by sheer accident, land on the outer planet of Tatooine to make repairs. The two Jedi sense a tremor in the Force, which turns out to be the young slave boy, Anakin Skywalker. The Trade Federation continues to cause problems on the planet of Naboo. The Jedi are beginning to sense that a dark legion is behind it all...
Rating: Summary: Decent book, after seeing the movie Review: Brooks failed to capture the essence of the Star Wars universe well in this book. It was decent at best when I read it before the movie, after seeing the movie, the book is good for filling in plot details such as the first Pod Race we only hear about in the movie, and explaining some other things about lines, such as "always two there are, a master and an apprentice.
