Rating: Summary: The book was alright, and followed the story well. Review: I think Terry Brooks was fairly effective in brining the movie's script to novel, but there were a few things missing. Over all Brooks did a fine job bringing the characters to life, giving us insight to the characters the movie in some ways couldn't. It also left some areas that the movie had that gave us insight into what will lead Anakin to follow the dark side of the force. Still the book was entertaining, descriptive, and thank all that is good with the force, that Jar Jar Binks was not used quite as much as he was in the movie. I recomend this book to all Star Wars fans as something they should read.
Rating: Summary: Why?????????? Review: I was disappointed in the movie and was equally let down by the novelization. After reading the book one gets an idea of how thin skinned Lucas' prequal is. The characters are 2 dimensional and the action never really grabs the reader. It is a shame that this story was not of the same class as the first three.
Rating: Summary: Pitiful. Review: This book was very disapointing. Terry brooks did terribly on writing this book from the horrible screen play by george "the failure" lucas. I bought the book because Star wars is a legacy.
Rating: Summary: A Review from Kansas Review: I thought this book was thrilling and most interesting if I were to choose any book to read for the summer this would be it I thought the content was great but could sometimes be a little confusing. Please don't think I am a big star wars fan because I'm not but this book made it all happen. My favorit part of the book is the very begening I thought it had some action drama and basikly everything. I recomend this book to any child!!
Rating: Summary: Episode 1 is true to the Star Wars saga... Review: I'd have to say The Phantom Menace book is as wonderful as the movie. The characters are well developed and the plot moves with a speed and smoothness that makes this book very hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Another Highly Enjoyable 'Star Wars' Novel. Review: This prequel to the beloved 'Star Wars' trilogy is one of the best sci/fi novels I've read in recent years. Although some parts are more exciting on screen, such as the battle sequences and the pod race, I felt overall the book was better than the film version. The foreshadowing of later events that occur in the series was great. I also liked the moments in 'The Phantom Menace' novel that weren't in the movie, even though the two are very similar. Episode one is just as good as Episodes IV, V, and VI. I can't wait to read Episodes II and III.
Rating: Summary: hey, c'mon, doesn't reach the movie.... Review: see, I like star wars and all that, and, dude, that movie sure was awesome, but, listen, that book didn't at all capture all the wiz and magic stuff that makes the movie the movie, 'k ? I mean, yeah, good writing style and that, sure, and otherwise Lucas would have hired someone else to write it, but, look, it's one of the most boring and annoying authors I ever read. Remember Shannara ? Yeah, that series that goes on and on.... Never liked, don't do now, never will, dude. It's Star Wars, yezzir, but it's not the best you can get. Watch the movie, enjoy it, leave the book where it is, in the shelves.Dude, better watch it. Don't get angry. That's the easy way, the way of the the dark side. Sorry, Brooks, just my opinion. The Gothic Anarchist
Rating: Summary: Very disappointing Review: I was quite disappointed in this book. I'd expected quite a bit, because I'm a big fan of both Brooks' Shannara and Magic Kingdom series, but unfortunately this book didn't live up to my expectations. I have a very hard time actually sitting down and reading this book (which is very rare for me!) My recommendation is that, unless you're going to buy this just because it's a Star Wars book and you want to have them, save your money - it's not really worth it.
Rating: Summary: Simply Outstanding! The saga returns... Review: It is unfortunate that this book, as well as, the movie has received a number of negative reviews. Both effectively bring back to the imagination the magic and spirit of the original trilogy. Big thumbs up for Mr. Lucas and the Terry Brooks novelization.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: If you are a Star Wars fanatic and love the Star Wars novel, then you will probably love this book. It's a book you will want to read over and over. As with any book, there are moments when it gets a little slow, but these moments last for only a couple pages. You will not want to put this novel down.
