Rating: Summary: The movie was better... really... Review: The Jedi were not portrayed as being as intuned with the Force as much as they should be. Furthermore, almost all the scenes seen in the book and not in the movie were really better left on the cutting room floor. Some were simply un-necessary. (especially one scene involving a certain droid on Coruscant... WHY!?) The love between Padmé and Anakin is much deeper, but such romance really should be saved for Episode II. I personally think the movie version of this story was better overall, but I strongly recommend this book for any Star Wars fan.
Rating: Summary: Sith bliss, but not much else! Review: The whole purport of purchasing such a book is in some way to prolong and extend the joy and wonder one experiences during the cinematic spectacle to another medium; this book (much like what Donald F. Glut did for Empire Strikes Back and what Timothy Kahn did for Retrun of the Jedi) does not deliver on that front. Like his novelising predecessors Brooks exercising an irritating kind of pseudo-creativity by tampering with dialogue from the screenplay (which he doubtless had access to); The dialogue is sacrosanct and continually draws the reader's attention to the presence of the author. Brooks fumbles the chronological order of certain scenes and inserts redundant additional scenes that are implied in others (the first podrace and the sickening scene where brave fearless Anakin confronts a Tusken Raider). The prose is straight out of Writing School 101, that fail to create a mental picture independent of the screen reference. The tension between Qui-Gon-Jinn and Obi-Won is dragged out too painfully to the extent that one begins to question whether Brooks is writing about the same movie we all saw and loved. The detailed and much needed history of the Sith Lords was the only relief in this otherwise tedious read. The Sith section alone warrants me awarding this two stars. The more discerning and mature Star Wars enthusiast will be disappointed with this piece of popcorn pulp that Brooks has churned out. One can only shiver and shake at the thought that Brooks is meant to be a respected writer in his own right. More depth could have been achieved by purchasing a copy of the delightful Phantom Menace colouring book, now where did I leave those crayons?

Rating: Summary: More that I expected! Review: I wasn't to thrilled about going to go see Star Wars. But it was Fathers Day and we all had to go. My dad really likes Star Wars and was always trying to get me to watch them but they looked extreamly boring. The movie was GREAT. I expected it to be boring but I wasn't at all. Now I have to get all Star Wars things that I can. I got a KFC kids meal just to get a Star Wars toy. I also bought the book and read it. It was good too. So far this movie is my favorite in the past few years. Everyone should read the book!!!!!
Rating: Summary: One star is according this more than its due. Review: An amateurish, poorly constructed, and cartoonish (as opposed to animated)version of what could have been an enlightening elaboration on some of the very sketchy aspects of the movie. I am certain that Mr. Lucas had some control over content, but the execution is, to put it mildly, poor. I was extremely disappointed. If this is an example of Mr. Brooks' capabilities, I will avoid reading anything else that he has written.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED It Review: I may be single minded since I'm obsessed with Star Wars but I've read enough books ot know that this book is a piece of art and will be treasured for years to come, Terry Brooks goes inside the emotions of the characters and lets you know what they are thinking, you can't see that in a movie.
Rating: Summary: Terry Brooks Strikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This book was my fav.I loved it,i spent so much time on it my mom was nagging at me to put it down but i always wanted to know what would happen next.It is just like the movie if you havent seen the movie then read the book.It is so goooooood.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ Review: WOW! I never thought that one book could be so enchanting! I bought the book at about 5 PM (the Obi-Wan cover) and finished it by about 11 PM. Although I'm a fast reader, and enjoy reading, I have never found a book as enjoyable as this one!!
Rating: Summary: Better than the Movie!! Review: I saw the movie and was disappointed. The characters did not have the same sparkle as in the first films. They seemed quite flat and stale. And the main bad guy was not even scary!! I could not figure out why they did the things they did as well. The book cured all that! I finally understood what they were thinking, and also why a 9 year old boy might turn into the dreaded Darth Vadar. Some of those who were disappointed or confused by the movie would enjoy the book. It would have been nice had the dialogue not been exactly from the movie script though.
Rating: Summary: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Review: Ok, to start out with, THIS IS THE BEST SW NOVEL EVER!!!!!!! We received the book (Obi-Wan cover, of course!) on Tuesday. Rabe started reading it and wouldn't put it down. She read it in a day and a half. I read it in two days. Good book...no, GREAT book!!!! My only gripe is that Terry Brooks left out all this dialogue from the movie. Jar Jar didn't say "How rude" once. But, notice we still gave it 5 stars. Don't dis the book! The best part is Terry added parts that weren't in the movie. For example, Anakin thinks and feels not like a nine-year-old, but much older, like he is supposed to be. In short, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!
