Rating: Summary: GATEway to adventure! Review: After reading the first 3 novels in this series, I was struck by the author's ability to juggle action and character. But in this latest installment, the author breaks all expectations. He takes the action, romance, suspense, horror, and heartbreak to new heights. Each novel gets stronger, broader, richer. Don't miss this book! (or the others!)
Rating: Summary: Enter the Wonderful World of the Wit'ch Review: I absolutely loved this book!! It's just as good, no... even better than the last. Clemens just gets better and better. The opening, was remarkably spooky. Despite the fact that I was surrounded by modern technology I actually hesitated to read on. But I'm thrilled that the moment passed otherwise I'd have missed an awesome continuation. There's a great deal happening in Gate. New bonds are forged and old ones a broken. Comrades fall and new allies are made. And it all revolves around the Wit'ch. Elena is so real and so alive, it's a delight to watch her grow as a woman and a witch. Er'ril could have had a bit more to do but with so many other things going on you hardly realize that he's not such a driving force in the story at this point. Hopefully, that will change with the next and last installment of Elena's tale. If you've grown attached to any of the characters, brace yourselves there are a lot of changes made. I totally recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read and to anyone who's read the other 3, don't miss this one you'll never forgive yourself.
Rating: Summary: GATE opens the entire world of ALASEA Review: I loved this book! It not only expanded the characters of the books--especially the history of the nyphai--but it also takes the reader to every corner of this fantastic world, to places that are both breathtaking and full of magick and menace. So make sure you bring your passport with you when you read this book, it's a seat-of-your pants joyride!
Rating: Summary: worst of the series Review: I read with relish the first books in this series. Unfortunately, the further into the story, the worse it got. The first book was engaging, partly because it was so naive, but by the last book it seemed the reader was having a tired plot rehashed over and over again without the benefit of gifted writing to make it bearable. I would recommend the first three books to someone wanting light fantasy, but I would leave out the last two.

Rating: Summary: Will definitely leave you itching for the next and last book Review: I was really eager to read this book after finishing Wit'ch War. When I started reading Gate i was a little disappointed. The beginning started off very slowly and Clemen's narration seemed rather stilted and redundant. If i had not read his other books beforehand i would definitely have given up at that point. Thankfully the pace picked up after Kesla and her nightglass dagger appears and the fluency and excitement of the 1st 3 books came back, not to mention numerous surprises and revelations about many of the characters. Clemens does a superb job in holding the suspense and the magic while doling out more information to readers. The ending where Elena was trapped in the Weir could be better though. Details were rather sketchy and I didn't understand parts of it. Seemed as though he was trying to squeeze everything in before he ran out of ink or something. What i liked was that very cryptic remark he makes at the end about nothing lasting forever. It was clear from the beginning that the ending would be unexpected and possibly not a very happy ending either, but this further remark has got me really puzzled about what dire ending he could possibly have for Wit'ch as well as the identity of the unknown 'author' of the Scrolls. It sounds as if Elena will die in the end and magic will disappear from Alasea but how then will the Mer'ai, nyphai, elv'in and other peoples survive? Maybe i shouldn't have read Gate so early because now I'm itching to read the next book and find out how everything ties together in the end. That's my advice: try not to read Gate so soon 'cos then you'll have to wait longer for the next book.
Rating: Summary: GATEway to adventure! Review: In this newest novel of the Wit'ch series, James Clemens takes the readers to the far corners of his fantasy world of Alasea. From the deserts wastelands to the highest mountains of the dreaded Gul'gotha where the Dark Lord reigns. From floating cityscapes of El'vin ilk to just about everything inbetween, the writer takes us on a voyage of high action and adventure filled with magick and wonders. As usual, some new characters come in to play and some old characters die off, leaving the reader wanting more. Clemen's writing style is ever growing and expanding upon each novel. Its kind of strange that near the end of the new novel, there is a strange character that reminded me alot of this certain character in the novels and books that is a key and vital piece to the novels. Now, of course I'm not going to tell you and ruin the book and movie at one fell swoop, now would you? Read the novel and see the movie!

Rating: Summary: My Only regret is turning the last page! Review: Once again James Clemens transported me to the Land of Alansea. Where the witch Elena and her allies must destroy the dark lord's sources of power:the Weirgates. Clemens's world building skills are awesome as ever as he shows more sights of his world. He will show us scenes of elven city in the clouds, sharks who travel in river of sand, ghoulish creatures called Grim who possess bodies. this novel's action sequences have cinematic quality to them. You will watch as our heroes battle d'warves soldiers and monsters. You will bid bittersweet farewell to comrades who will not survive this latest adventure and be astonish as another character who died will be reborn! All and all another demonstration of Clemens's story-telling ability as he shows us magic, menace and wonder of the land of Alansea and the heroic beings who dwell there!
