Summary: a good book but hard to follow
Review: the return was a good book but i had the hardest time following it! this is one of those books thet you need to read more than once just to see what it means. i enjoyed seeing captain kirk alive again (after all he is a good character) but the way he was brought back was a little "out there" even for star trek. now don't get me wrong i find mr. shatner to be a fine writer but reincarnating himself? i think that he could have been a little more creative then that. all around i think that it was a good book but maybe in his next book (i won't spoil the ending for those of you who haven't read it yet) he should think of something else.

Summary: Excellent, excellent sequel to Ashes of Eden!
Review: A dynamite book, that really does justice as a sequel to Ashes of Eden. Loved the way it involved elements of the original series, next generation, and deep space nine. It would have made a better borg movie than First Contact (not that First Contact was bad mind you). You could in fact still make this into a movie. Loved the inclusion of a Definat class ship, the surprise origin of the Borg, and Kirk's death, like it should be! All in all, not just great Star Trek but great science fiction.

Summary: Totally Shatner
Review: This was a fairly well written. Not too many disapointments. I often wondered if Shatner was just venting his anger at Picard (P. Stewart) for taking his place. Conclusion: Shatner produces yet another ego-enhanced captain Kirk.

Summary: an excellent book about Captain Kirk's "Return"
Review: I'll begin by saying that this was an excellent book, and that this is one of the best books I think I've read in quite some time. One of the things that makes me enjoy Star Trek so much is that for the most part, all the series, movies, and books tie-in with each other for the most part. At first reading, I wasn't sure about the following facts: 1. The Borg ally themselves with an un-assimilated race 2. The Borg have the technology to basicaly raise the dead 3. The Borg have the ability to reconfigure their ships 4. V'Ger is actualy Borg-originated. 1. Episodes of Star Trek: Voyager have proven that the Borg will ally themselves with an un-assimilated race, only to betray them when the crisis has been averted. 2. Seven of Nine revived Neelix, thus proving that the Borg can raise the dead. 3. Beats me, but I'll take Captain Kirk's word for it. 4. It's defenitely possible, and I'll take Spock's word for it.

Summary: Mr. Shatner has done it again!
Review: I am a big fan of Star Trek:V,and have read the Ashes of Eden book before this one,and they are all excellent.The Return I liked the most.But one thing that still shocks me to this day is how he came up with the tie-in to V'Ger.That was a stroke of pure genius.Like his movie,this provides alot of insight on what keeps the three main characters together as friends.Bringing a part of each generation together was also brilliant,but I wish he would have brought a few more characters from Deep Space Nine,not just Bashir.Other than that,it was pure excellence.

Summary: Wonderful, but too Goddamn depressing!
Review: I though this was a great book, but I was extremely depressed by it (Generations depressed me too). Especially with McCoy and Spock (especially McCoy) being so damn OLD!!!!!!

Summary: Alleluia - Kirk's alive!
Review: I just bought this book two days ago and as of this writing i'm not finished yet. Holy Vulcan, i can't believe this. When "Generations" ended, I was felt depressed because now there's only one icon left from the original series. But, as expected,Shatner won't go down without a fight. Money is pretty hard to come by these days here in manila but when I saw the book on the shelf i had an uncontrollable urge to spend my last buck on it. I read some of the reviews and I would like to touch on those that had some pretty nasty words about Shatner's nerve to bring back his character. Kirk deserves an encore! I (and I'm sure almost everybody else who bought the book had the same motivation) think this is the best thing to happen in the ST universe. And nobody but nobody else can write about it better than the man himself. Now, whether the story's great or not is another matter.

Summary: You can't put this one down!
Review: Details. That's what this book has. You learn so much about the Star Trek universe. You learn many previously unknown details about V'ger, the Borg and their homeworld, Romulans, and the events after Star Trek: Generations. Unlike television and movies, you hear what the characters
are thinking and feeling, especially Kirk. Shatner is obviously the best qualified to write Kirk's return. With Kirk's fate still unknown at the end, there should definitely be a sequel!

Summary: I found it interesting
Review: Although I have read other Shattner creations and found them quite stimulating, this book I have found predictable in some areas and interesting in others. Even though this is a well constructed and rounded off at the corners, the content and the well written "Ster Trek" quality kind of diminishes as the character of Picard must in a finally combine again the Picard/Kirk allience. This,although as exciting as the Generations communion, had an almost fatalistic requirement with the main characters fighting and becoming friends to save the world plot, that was probably better left to the universe hanging in the ballance and the characters at each others heals veing for revenge. The over all concept of the book was great IF the 'cliffhanging' concept was used for content of character developement. What kind of real thoughts were going through your mind at the time, hate, regret, fear, hey what happened to thoughs holes in my real life? This book almost felt like a 'I gotta crank this one out before the deadline. Oh here is a great thing to throw in' kind of novel. I did like the confrontations between the Kirk character and the new crew of the Enterprise. It was probably the thing that kept me sucked to the pages of this novel. In closing, the writing of Shattner has met a snag along the way and I hope he finds his center of the Star Trek universe again so I can really enjoy the general quality of this well defined author.

Summary: It's all tied together
Review: Bill took a very interesting approach with this one. He brought together elements from the past with V'Ger, throughout his own stint, and into the "future" with the Borg and beyond Generations. Not what I expected when I started to read it - better than what I thought it would be.
