Summary: Excellent story!
Review: I read this book when it first came out; just finished rereading it. It remains one of my favority science fiction books of all time. Good story, strong characters. You care about what happens to the crew. Very well written story. Cherryh is always a good author; this book is one of her best.

Summary: A different tack for Cherryh
Review: I was very impressed with this novel. As always, Cherryh has written a compelling story with strong characters. What caught my attention, however, and what really sets this novel appart from her other books, is that the protagonist, Fletcher Neihert, does not want to be on a ship. While many of Cherryh's characters are on space craft that they don't want to be on, I believe this is the first character who truly does not wish to be in space at all. By far some of Cherryh's best writing, in a class with Cuckoo's Egg and the Chanur trilogy.

Summary: readable, but not among Cherryh's best
Review: In a review the expression 'adolescent angst' is used, and if you are interested in reading once more all about it, Finity's End can be recommended. I was disappointed, because I have come to expect more from Cherryh.

Summary: Didn't want to put it down
Review: Orphaned and run afoul of the legal system on Pell Station, Fletcher Neihart believes he has found his place working with the one other intelligent species in human space. That is suddenly torn from him when "Finity's End", his dead mother's ship, bargains for his return to the ship.

Fletcher embarks on a journey across known space against his will. Physically he is more mature than the other "juniors" on the ship, but he lacks some basic knowledge that they have grown up with.

Fletcher also embarks on an inner journey. His struggle to find where he fits in, along with Finity's End's struggle to establish peace, makes for very absorbing reading. I had a little trouble following some of the political maneuvering going on, but the sheer humanness of the characters kept me up late at night reading. There is no fairy tale ending to Fletcher's story, just a hard won sense of finally finding a place to belong.

Summary: Come on this could be better!!!
Review: The story is well so-so. It just seemed dead to me. The cover suggests to me action packed with extreme moments. This was my first book by her. I wasn't very impressed now i don't know if she has better books haven't read them. This book just seemed boring to me but the cover and illustrarions were good. The book could've been better and if she puts a little more feeling in it and more action it would be great in my eyes.

That's my opinion on the book.

Summary: Decent Story -- Poor editing
Review: The typical Cherryh Mercanter novel. Good stories about people, technology is never a big part of the story. The main problem I had with this book was the poor editing. Room numbers change in different places, characters are mentioned as part of a group then disappear. Certain events appear out of order.

The book doesn't really stand alone. Without prior knowledge of the series, this book would be confusing.

Summary: Excellent story!
Review: This book, as with all Cherryh's science fiction, is about people. I must add that I am no fan of CJ Cherryh's fantasy writing. But she is the BEST science fiction writer on this planet. The only problem with Cherryh's books is, that you are unable to read any other author's books for weeks after finishing one of her books. I envy everyone who has not read all her SF books, you have so much good storytelling available. Even my mother, not a SF fan, enjoyed this book.
