Summary: incredibly wonderful!!
Review: This is another one of those books that you can't wait to finish while dreading coming to its end. When I did finish it, I started it over--immediately. I recommended it to my sister who did precisely the same thing. (Each of us reads hundreds of books a year--it is not a normal reaction nor is a genetic quirk!)

I found the plot to be refreshingly original which is unfortunately becoming quite unusual in the fantasy genre. The book is the first of a trilogy, and while I can't wait for books two and three, book one had a complete story and a definite ending, which is another plus when so many series ramble from book to book.

If you can't tell, I enjoyed this book immensely and I highly recommend it!

Summary: THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I first started reading this book, it was a little confusing. Anne Bishop has created a complicated, mystical world that sucked me right in. After about 30 pages, I simply could not put it down. Not since Jennifer Robinson's Cheysuli series have I been so pleased with a book. In the beginning, you dislike Daemon and by the end of the book, your heart cries out for him and Jaenelle. I did not want to read the last page because number two in the trilogy has not come out yet. I wish I had all three and three more already in my needy little hands. This is definately a must read for anyone who loves well written books.

Summary: An attention-grabber that won't let go.
Review: Original fantasy worlds are difficult to come by, and I think Anne Bishop has done a creditable job, although the pace she sets for figuring out who belongs where and in what relation to each other is sometimes frustrating--but upon reflection, it adds to the suspense necessary to the plot. It's certainly not a book for the squeamish, and the back cover doesn't suggest nearly what it gets into--however, it grabs your attention and won't let go for wondering just what will happen to each character. I'm eagerly awaiting the second book.

Summary: Brilliant!!! Wonderful!!! I can't wait for the next book!!!
Review: I wasn't expecting much out of this book by the back story, but I got it anyway and am glad that I did!! This book was incredibly well written. Reading this book was like being transported to another rhealm in which anything and everything is possible!! It's brilliant and well written--I'm dying to read the next one in the trilogy!!!!

Summary: Daughter of the Blood -Sexual abuse, humiliation, etc.
Review: Anne Bishop's Daughter of the Blood is a cleverly written fantasy. She creates an interesting world that is easy to visualize. It is a great book for readers who like their main characters sexually abused, humiliated, and degraded, for page after page. She also has kinky ideas of how to sustain sexual tension between her leading older male character (1000's of years) and the 12 year old female love interest. She never explains why these characters who all are supposedly extremely powerful warlocks and witches, never can stop the horrible sexually depraved excesses that befall them. And what is this kinky faun alter ego that shows up as an otherworld spirit? This is her nod to Charles deLint's influence on her work? As Anne's first book it does show writing talent - I read the entire book despite its faults. I hope her next book is less of an excuse to get warped sexual ideas into print and more of a book connected to the wild magic, spirit and heart, that Charles deLint understands so well.

Summary: Enticing, erotic, grabs your imagination and won't let go.
Review: Anne Bishop weaves a web of intrigue, darkness and hope. The characters will become part of your imagination forever. Its a must read. You will want the next book as soon as you finish this story. She is a very talented writer.

Summary: Follows a basic plot at first but slips in several surprises
Review: It was a great book...captivates the imagination. Puts a great spin on life using interesting names to trigger emotions. There is a great deal of creativity but logic in corperated into it to to give it a feel of possiblity.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A highly original and rich world
Review: While Anne Bishop is sometimes frustratingly cryptic in her explanations of the society/system she has created, the world in _Daughter of the Blood_ is wonderfully original, the characters are complex and well-defined, and the novel maintains a gripping pace throughout. Definitely an entertaining read!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the Best I've Ever Read
Review: This book is one of the best I have ever read; I got caught up in it & couldn't put it down. But it is not for the squeamish & I'd give it a PG17 to R rating. There are some very dark & serious undertones & what happens at times to children & adults is truly horrifying. But if you're looking for a book with people you start caring about, that you can't stand to put down until its finished(& then want #2 out yesterday), then you've found it!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Stunning new concept by a new author!
Review: This first novel leaves you breathless for Anne Bishop to finish her series. A darkly vivid world, peopled by characters you love and hate, Daughter of the Blood is incredibly well written! It is exciting and gripping, and the pace moves quickly. A must read!
