Rating: Summary: When's the sequel coming out?!? Review: That's all I could think when I finished this book. I'm not exactly an expert on fantasy novels, but I know this is a great one! Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down! At first it was sort of confusing with all the characters and places (not to mention how old some of those people were!) but after the first part of the book I was so into it that I didn't even notice. I began to understand the characters and really care for them. Anne Bishop even made something as wrong sounding as a 700 year old man desiring a 12 year old girl sound O.K. in a sense. I actually cried at the end of the book just because I couldn't believe it was over. I wanted the story to go on and on forever (which is probably a sign that I need to get a life). I can't wait for the sequel! When's it coming out?!?!
Rating: Summary: Egads, what a book!!! Review: Have you ever read such an amazing book? I think not. This immediately hit the top of my list, which is quite an accomplishment -- I have high standards. Not many authors have the ability to lead their readers on such an emotional rollercoaster: I started out hating Daemon, and ended crying for him. I almost had a heart attack when the knoweledge that the next in the series isn't out yet hit me full force. I'm hoping to get to know Lucivar and Jaenelle better. Well, Daughter of the Blood was wonderful, and I can't wait for the next installment to such a splendiferous series!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful after the first 140 pages Review: The first third of the book plods on and on as Bishop does a brain dump on every little detail she can think of to describe her world, which is interesting - but not that interesting. Something kept me going and after clearing that hurdle I was caught up in an original story with characters that I finely came to care about since their storylines were no longer being interuppted every other paragraph with yet more info on the dark jeweled society. Some will no doubt be offended by having Saetan Lord of Hell as one of the heros and the growing romance between a 700 year man and a 12 year girl. The one thing that bugged me about the book was that there were all of these characters that were hundreds and thousands of years old and yet they still seemed to react to life as if they were in their 30's. You would think they would be rather bored by now and perhaps be just the tiniest bit wiser. But no matter, I am looking forward to the next installment.
Rating: Summary: Not your typical fantasy Review: This is a great dark fantasy! From the first chapter, Anne Bishop creates a mystical world where the reader can feel the slim hope and salvation Witch represents to Daemon and Lucivar. Daemon is a great tragic hero, and I only wish there had been more character development for Lucivar also. I can't wait for Witch to grow up!
Rating: Summary: Tremendous energy and excitement, I loved it! Review: This book is a real spellbinder. The characters and world that Anne Bishop has created have you thoroughly enthralled. I thought the characters were great . I felt their frustrations, consternation, and revelations as Janelle twisted them around her finger in perfect innocence. It was exciting from the first page, I hated to put it down and I am eagerly waiting for the sequel.
Rating: Summary: A thoroughly engrossing & satisfying read. Review: Yes she did it, Anne Bishop has brought out of the shadows the world where almost all other authors have wanted to create. She takes the familiar and turns it on its head, she freshens old cliche ridden characters and makes them LIVE. I can not wait to pick up her next one, the wait, no matter how short will be too long.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely captivating Review: Though it has become cliche, it is the absolute truth-once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. I actually threw a fit when it was over! I have been attempting to calmly await the sequel, but it's perfectly torturous! This is the most unbelievably enchanting book i have ever read. It instantly became my favorite!
Rating: Summary: Totally Incredible book, A little disturbing Review: I picked this book up in a local book store and started reading it. Two hours later I knew I had to buy it. It held a promise of grabbing you and not letting go. I am looking forward to reading the secound book. I hope it is as good as the first, if not better!
Rating: Summary: Didn't wander, wonderful writing Review: I felt this was one of the few books I've read that doesen't wander. It also was beautifully writen and let you really understand the characters.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: Couldn't put it down. It draws you in and captivates you. If you enjoy scifi and mystical reading this is a book for you. Can't wait for the continuation.
