Summary: Dark, enchanting and surprisingly funny
Review: This book and it's sequel Heir to Shadows are a must have!!! I read through the night to finish each of them, and I can't wait for the third book to come out! Already I have re-read each book more than three times in the last month, because the story is so gripping.

Anne Bishop's wonderful sense of humor is expressed in many of the scenes between Jaenelle and the other main characters (namely Saetan and Daemon). This precocious 12 year old never fails to confound them, and the encounters can become hysterically funny as they try to find a way to deal with a young girl with powers beyond anyone's imagination. She's got enough power to do the unimaginable, but can't do the simple things. Their sheer terror at what she is capable of (or sometimes not capable of doing), is humorously mixed with exasperation, frustration, and tenderness. I laughed out loud at so many scenes that my mother, who doesn't read fantasy, demanded that she get to read it after me... She's also an Anne Bishop fan now!!

The book also deals with very dark issues, including abuse and the kind of society that results when trust, respect, and honor between men and women is destroyed. What's saddest about it is that a few people have systematically destroyed those bonds in order to gain power for themselves. Anne Bishop weaves these dark threads with those of hope that with the coming of the new queen, Jaenelle, that things will change. If they can protect her long enough for her to grow up...

Summary: Excellent book, great plot devopement, and a bad ending
Review: Very good book suitable for readers of any interest. Great description but to much information at times. All around a great book!

Summary: A Dark world glittering with Truth
Review: Bishop's books read with a smoothness and passion that makes you believe in their existance. While brutally ture to our own history, we are flung into the dark forest embodied in Terreille and while we are at Bishop's mercy to be led out of the woods, the world she has created around us is definately worth taking the time to enjoy.

Summary: One of the most innovative works I've read in a long time.
Review: In a sea of generic fantasy fiction titles, this book was a surprising lifeline. All I can say, is that I was upset when it was over, and I didn't have part two on my bookshelf.

Summary: Dark and mesmerizing
Review: This has to be my favorite book. The characters are well written and enchanting. Daemon and Janelle's relationship is worth looking forward to. Hopefully the final book will focus more on that than the second. Lucivar is a definite presense and should've received more of a role. All in all, a magnificent book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best Book I've Ever Read
Review: Totally gripping story, a little hard to adapt to at first but once you get the idea that some lucky people like Daemon, Lucivar and Saetan live like'forever' then its a totally well writen and captivating story. Also Daemon is 1700 years old if you hadn't noticed

Summary: Why is Hell a BAD place?
Review: Daughter of the Blood is a wonderful book! The world it takes place in is hypnotic and the characters leave me wanting more. It was the best book I have ever read and I urge others to read it as well. My mother bought the book for me and I couldn't put it down! After I was done I gave it to a friend to read and she also loved it. I loved how Saetan was a hero and seemed like a hell of a guy. Why do people always assume that Hell is a BAD place? After reading this I think I want to go there now. Anne Bishop is one of my favorite authors and my friends and I await her second book to Daughter of the Blood, Heir to the Shadows. I can't wait to hear of Daemon, Saetan, and especialy Jaenelle.

Summary: Wow!
Review: A great book even though it is sometimes sexually explicit and violent. I found myself crying during the scene where Surreal met Jaenelle for the first time. I can't wait for the sequel.

Summary: Magical
Review: If you can get through the first 50 pages -- you'll fall in love with this book. I know *I* did!

I am not one who usually reads Fantasy novels -- I basically picked this book up because I judged the book by the cover. I'm SO glad that I did!

The characters have strenghs and faults... but you can understand who they are. Saetan seems more like a grandfatherly type than the High Lord of Hell. Daemon Sadi (the Sadist) was a true heartbreaker. Jaenelle was a sweet girl who brought love into the hearts of those who long forgot what love was.

I loved this book so much. I can not express the words to praise this book enough!

I could NOT put the book down once I started! I have reread the book 7 times already. I cry each time I read it!

I can not WAIT until the second book in this series, Heir to the Shadows comes out!!!!!
