Rating: Summary: Summary of my review Review: Loved the book but . . . don't you hate it when the main character is the least likable of the lot?Anne Bishop has surrounded her main character with interesting, screwed-up, and . . . well . . . just kooky fun characters. Jaenelle is hopelessly flat comparatively. Unless you compare her to Cassandra . . . who's rather like the Highlander Cassandra . . . dull and annoying. But that's all I have to say about that. Surreal rocks my world.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book. Review: This is a great book. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. The characters are wonderful and the plot was extreemly interesting. I definitely recomend this book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book by a Great Author ! Review: I thought that this was a wonderful book, read it and see if you agree with me !
Rating: Summary: This is the best book I have ever read in my life Review: This is the best book I have ever read in my life (besides the sequel.) People who criticize it on the basis that a 1700 year old man is interested ina 12 year old girl have obviously missed the fact that he loves her for who she is, despite the fact that she is so young. In fact, he respects her age and is willing to wait for her to be ready for him, even though he's waited his entire life already. It's a beautiful story about love, respect, and integrity. I wish there had been more about Surreal. She is a fascinating character who deserves more time in the book, but perhaps she will be expanded upon in the rest of the trilogy. Anyway, this is my favorite book in the whole entire world and I've read it literally about 100 times so far. Every time you read it, you notice something new. That is the ture magic of the book, the clever way in which even seemingly unrelated events all get tied in together. The hidden meanings and foreshadowings are fascinating. A wonderful commentary on our society, as well as a TERRIFIC read. I'm anxiously awaiting the conclusion!
Rating: Summary: Overwhelmingly dull fantasy. Review: Bishop populates her world with uninteresting, interchangeable characters (with contrived names like Saetan, Lucivar, and Daemon), and treads water with them for the first three quarters of the book. By the time anything interesting does happen - in about the last 100 pages - it is certainly not worth the wait. Even more frustrating is her habit of alluding to things the characters know well, but never explains to the reader. I lost count of the number of passages that left me wondering what had just happened after I'd read them, and felt like I was reading a later volume rather than the first of a new trilogy.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT!! Review: This book is a fabulous example of what fantasy writing should be. The characters have a great deal of depth, and the imagery really brings this book to life. Anytime you can walk away from a book feeling that you not only know the characters, but also want to go visit, the author has surpassed expectations. Read it! You'll love it!!
Rating: Summary: doesn't even deserve one star, herendous Review: If you like to read awful, disgusting literature, not even literature, this is your book. It has no plot. If you think a 12 year old should be an item of lust for a 1700 year old man, great! You have a sick mind!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: All I Have to say about this one is that I couln't put it down. What a great book and a great author! I read her book in one night and promptly went staight into the second book of her series. She has created such strong characters. I love the females she created in this book and the power struggles that are unfolding. Having read the first two books in the series, I am anxiously awaiting the third!
Rating: Summary: The best! Review: Although I loved Interview With the Vampire, I did not finish reading it and start over again. I did that with Daughter of the Blood, though. I have read it 4 times now, and love every page of it!
Rating: Summary: nice book Review: though i enjoyed reading this book, i think i would rather read about Daemon than about Jaenelle. personally, though, i still prefer Anne Rice to Anne Bishop. (read Interview with the Vampire if you don't believe me, you'll get hooked)
