Summary: The cover got my attention...and words inside got my life!
Review: "Never judge a book by its cover." It's mentioned over and over. Well the cover got my attention then I put my thumb in the middle of the book, read one paragraph...I was hooked! I noticed it was the 3rd book in a series. So I checked to see what were the other 2 and to my surprise there is actually another 3 book series that precedes it. So I went ahead and bought all FIVE (in paperback) read them, then bought SKYBOWL in hard cover. I have been a Melanie Rawn fan since. I rate her up there with the Master J.R.R.Tolkien and Terry Brooks. Ms. Rawn, keep it going! Sioned is WATCHING!

Summary: A gripping read
Review:

This is a very accomplished plot by an excellent author. Melanie Rawn provides and excellent, deft touch to an interesting desert land, with characters that have real emotions, goals, and desires. The sad, bittersweet ending, with a sense of renewal, loss, and joy as a new generation begins their path to adulthood is deftly done. I couldn't put the book down.

Summary: Refreshing magic
Review: After reading the first book for the series, I found that I couldn't stop. I just went on and on reading from one day to the next and slept only when I got extremely exhausted. A really great series with a refreshing way of looking at magic, weaving sunlight and connecting to people all over the world like that. And what's all the more refreshing is the idea that dragons don't horde gold nor kill people to get the gold but rather, they produce gold with their own fire when they are born. The main characters are well developed, and I loved Rohan and Sioned so much that I cried when they died. However, I felt that the villains are rather two-dimensional during the sequel as they are just purely bad. Seeing the heroes kill the villains felt a little like seeing them cut through flat paper dolls titled "villains". That could have been improved. Nevertheless, it is a great series and worth all the sleepless nights (and days).

Summary: I LOVED THE SERIES
Review: After reading the first book,I fell in love with the characters! Who could you not?! After finishing the last book I cried! The ending was excellent but I wish for it to continue.

Summary: I loved the book, I couldn't get enough of it!
Review: Before ever reading a book, I read the reviews, and well, when I heard SkyBowl was for dedicated fans only, I got a little intimidated. I turned out to be a very dedicated fan! That, or these people have no patience what so ever. Though many writers I had read before have very happy endings, Rawn made a somewhat sad, but satisfying end to her six book saga. I finally got to see the showdown between Pol and Andry that had been going on for a very long time, and wasn't really surprised at how it turned out. Being the true hero of the story, Pol couldn't lose, but that meant getting rid of my favorite character, a fact all my friends had to suffer through whenever I was around. The general confusion that comes with having so many characters was enough to make my head spin. Everyone in the books was named after everybody else! Sioned, Sionell, Siona, Sioneva, etc. Then again, these people usually only had a one word parts in these whole show, so it didn't make much of a difference. For anyone that likes fantasy, you have to read this book!

Summary: The Azhrei sunrunner forever
Review: HI all you dragon and Fantasy readers. If your someone like me who can't put a good book down then I really recomend this book for you. Me and my friend lets call him Defraradi obth loved this book we were sad when we knew there was not going to be a continuation of this book, so we are writing one. These book series inspired me to not only write about it but to make me and my friend see our selves as these titled people and their life in a different perspective. I've read all the well known Medevail books and other smaller ones and I have to say this one is the greatest. All I wish is to read more about Pol and all the other charactors such as "Ell" any way if you can i sugest this book its really good, the only thing is the intense emotion Melene Rawn and her characters give you. So as I stop the only thing I must say is AZHREI FOREVER!

Summary: Perfect
Review: I adored this book! I cannot get enough of fantasy, and this book is wondrous. I was put off from reading Melanie Rawn for a long time because I heard she that she wrote romance novels with a little bit of magic to make it fantasy. So when my friend insisted that I read the book, I was a little hesitant. While romance is fine, I like fantasy. Was I ever glad to be proven wrong! This book is definately top class fantasy. You get to know even the minor characters, and you cannot put the book down. I began this book at midnight (after just finishing "The Dragon Token") and was awake until seven A.M. finishing it! Wonderful story, engrossing characters, everything that anyone could look for in a story like this and more. I felt that this was the best book of the six and that Rawn should write more like it! Keep writing these wondrous books--Please!

Summary: Worth reading the first 2 torturous books
Review: I bought all three books together in this series without reading the Dragon-Prince series. I gave the first book a miserable rating because I was very confused. All the chars were alien to me. But becasue I had bought the books and i didn't want to waste my money, I forced myself to plow through to the end.

I must say it was worth my time and agony because the climax at the end of the book was incredible. It was so brilliant that I could almost feel the sunrunner web spinning around me as i read. It helped also that I got to like Andry in all my muddled reading and he was the only one who stuck in my mind. His death upsetted me but it's one of the things that glued me to the book.

The reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of all the trouble i took in reading the first two books. They are not bad but I made the mistake of not reading the Dragon Prince series. Or I could blame Rawn for not making it book 4,5,6 instead.

Summary: How better to end a series
Review: I first found this series when I walked into a used bookstore and they had all 6 books in near mint condition. I was put off by the fantasy genre at the time and almost avoided them, but Michael Whelan's cover art conviced me that it would be worth my while. 24 dollars and 6 books later this series has impressed me more than any other series short of The Dragonriders of Pern. Skybowl is truly a way to end it with a bang. There are unexpected plot twists, and an awesome ending which make this book the best since the first book in the series.
