Summary: An important reference for any serious Occult library
Review: "The Goetia, the Lesser Key of Solomen the King" is instrumental in the practice of High Magick. This book gives the demonic order of the other planes. Originally compiled with the help of Alisteir Crowley, the infamous Ritual Magician, and undoubtably used in his ceremonies. This is definitely one of the Occult references to have in your library. It is not a work of fiction but considered by Occultists as a serious magickal work. This book will only be of interest to serious students of Ritual Magick.

Summary: Otherwise a good book
Review: "The Initiated Interpretation of Ceremonial Magic" by Aleister Crowley offended me. It appeared to be harsh and Atheist.
Otherwise this is a very good book.

Summary: Maybe Its Just Me
Review: Along with the Greater Key of Solomon, both supposedly written by the biblical King Solomon, this represents one of the first storehouses of occult lore available for the serious student. Translated by renowned scholar S.L. MacGregor Mathers, the Lesser Key of Solomon the King has a good series of spells and rituals for use in invocation and practical magic(k). The problem with the book, though, is its long, difficult and obtuse writing style. Like I said in my review of the Greater Key, maybe I'm being arrogant when I say that King Solomon just couldn't write it well. Then again, you have to remember this isn't a story, its a Grimoire. It is meant to be perused as a ritual text by those who already have knowledge of Qabalah and the occult.

Summary: Goetia at its best
Review: Another important work on magic, translated by S.L. MacGregorMathers and edited by Aleister Crowley, the two most importantmagicians of the modern era. This book should be in the library of every student of magic and the occult, and is particularly useful in conjunction with _The Key of Solomon [the King_, also translated and edited by Mathers. This is, of course, the definitive work on Goetic invocation and the conjuration of specific spirts. A must for any conjurer.

Summary: The Careless Magician
Review: Excellent work, for the magician who is READY. NOT to be carelessly read and worked. When you're ready, the grimoire will satisfy your desires.

Summary: Very interesting, in many ways.
Review: Greetings,

First off, I'd like to state that using this work isn't half as dangerous as many pseudo-magi would have you believe, anyone who is reasonably stable should be completely safe, the only danger is obsession.

This book is very useful, considered by many as the "ganddaddy" of all grimoires it gives access to a reasonable amount of "entities" (for lack of a better word) to work with, if these are truly demons or merely archetypes of things inside your own personality depends wholly on one's paradigm, but I digress.

The operations are quite beautiful, and very interesting to perform. The one thing that slightly flaws them is that physical impracticalities of the system, expect to be using a lot of time and money making the preparations (magickal equipment, working space etc.) this is why I've rated it at 4 rather than five stars. It should be noted that the writing is a bit hard, it may take more then one read to take in the technique.

I highly recommend it to the practical magus, results are quite easily obtained with practise.

Enjoy.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I also have Aleister Crowley's Illustrated Goetia and this was just as good. I also have 2 other books by Mathers and this was better than them both, as good as they were. This book contains illustrations and descriptions of demons- horrifying to all but the most desensitized individual. This didn't scare me one bit. The illustrations are better than Aleister Crowley's Illustrated Goetia because they are considerably more life-like; the Illustrated Goetia's drawings are fine but I've seen complaints that they were worse than D & D. Well this is not D & D this is reality. Is D & D a crash course in sorcery? Yes, but only if you take it seriously. As a brother in the O.T.O. I will now shamelessly admit AD& D first sparked my curiosity of the arcane; then later video games, after that horror films, still later Ouija board then eventually The Satanic Bible.

Summary: Great Historical Grimoire
Review: I found the book valuable, and indespensible in my Magickal Library.

Summary: Ok, but not the best
Review: I got this version of the Goetia before the Henson edition was released. At the time this was the best version out there that I could find. I now have the Henson book and find it MUCH more useful. The Mathers version is not the complete Lemegeton and it also has some pretty heavy alterations done to it. This version does provide some interesting historical information, however, which is not available in other editions.

Summary: Understanding Goetia...this is where you begin
Review: I truly enjoyed this book very much and have much success as well. I truly do say that you must do the rituals in order to make this book work for you. Remember, that the "spirits" that you want will not come to you in a "person to person" encounter. What you must get to know is about the Astral plane cause this is the only way. However, there are certain things that are made in order to "see" them...however, i've never try them. So, get a great book about the astral plane and then get this book and you'll be sitting pretty. Highly recommended!
