Rating: Summary: Very Funny and real life Review: I loved this book for it's funnyness and it's look on life. Makes you wanna think some people you know are really bears wering clothes!
Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: This has been one of the most enjoyable reading I have had in years. Funny, funny, funny. Who thought a bear can look so good in a suit(refering to the cover).
Rating: Summary: Funny, odd, great grown-up fairy tale Review: Writer and Bear swap places; Bear gets megabucks publishing deal with celebrity perks using Writer's novel; Writer embraces the joys of Bear life. Who has the best deal? A few words develops each character fully, lots of laughs and a great vacation read.
Rating: Summary: FUNNIEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN!!!!!!!! Review: THIS BOOK IS THE BEST AND FUNNIEST BOOK THAT HAS EVER EVER BEEN WRITTEN!!! HAL JAM IS A TOTAL GENIUS!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Will become an enduring classic. Review: The bear is what everyone wants and what everyone doesn't want. He wants to have the best in life and yet is yearning for the days of simplicity. A truly well written book with humor, sensitivity and realism.
Rating: Summary: Humor at its best! Review: Kotzwinkle has done a masterful job creating this wonderful tale of Hal Jam. A cute and funny book, no doubt. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: great dustjacket blurbs Review: Yeah, it was funny but the thing I laughed hardest at was the blurb by author Gold on the dustjacket about him reading/cracking up in his empty apartment. "Send me more!" he applauds, in true Hal Jam form. Also, as did everyone else, I enjoyed the wonderful picture on the front. Brought in by a dustjacket!
Rating: Summary: We BEAR-ly take time to smell the roses. Review: The cover of this book was the first thing to catch my eye. Upon reading the back cover it sounded like a funny story - IT IS! I enjoyed the light hearted, yet "right on" focus of the story. How many times have we seen how power and money can obscure the real world that these people live in? Althought predictable in parts, the story is light and moves well throughout. It's great to see how the people that surround Hal Jam (the bear)can't see past the "want-to-be" syndrome that their involved in. Also it's effect on the bear as he becomes more convinced of his own "personhood". I, as others that have read "The Bear that went over the mountain", have seen the direct releationship to the childhood story of "The Emperor's New Clothes". A funny, light read to be enjoyed and laughed at.
Rating: Summary: Buy this book! Review: At the risk of redundancy, THIS BOOK IS EXCELLENT! What a complete joy. I picked it up because I liked the cover and the jacket blurb, but had no real idea of what I was getting. Just one of those rare, lucky finds, I guess! I actually chuckled out loud in places. What a wonderful book! Get it!
Rating: Summary: A Hilarious novel that I couldn't put down Review: The Bear went over the mountain is possibly the funniest book that I have ever read. Just the story is hilarious, A bear searching for food finds a briefcase with a manuscript in it. The bear reads the manuscript, finds it to be good, takes it into town and gets it published. If you like this book some other books I recomend anre The Fan Man and Dr. Rat. They are both by the same author, William Kotzwinkle
