Summary: The magic continues
Review: I'm a fan of quality children's writing. Stanek's original book in the series was exquisite. I was completely surprised and thrilled. The second book is again wonderful. The author weaves a unique story that is compelling, strong and quite extraordinary. So far, I've found 5 books in the series: Kingdoms and the Elves Books 1, 2 and 3, and Elf Queen and the King Books 1 and 2. I've read Kingdoms and the Elves 1 and 2 and Elf Queen and the King 1 and 2. The author has a wonderful approach and the plots are able to surprise (even me). It was great to not get the same formula over and over as many other children's books tend to do. The books, though set an a fantasy world, do deal with emotions and the characters each have their own charm. One of the issues a character is dealing with in the book is the death of her mother. The message is clear: It's okay to grieve and sometimes, the healing process can take a long time. Writing about such deep feelings and emotions in a careful way that respects children and their real concerns, provides them with a forum to relate with their own fears and anxieties.

And Adrina is only one of the many bright and wonderful characters in these stories. Your children will have plenty to cheer about for sure (and you may as well). In the books, you'll find elves, dark creatures, and all the stuff of dreams (and nightmares). The author takes us to a dream world in many powerfully painted scenes where the boy Vilmos must battle an inner darkness. I suppose some of this might be misinterpreted by some parents, but the writing is so good and the underlying lessons are there to put things in perspective. Kids love when they can identify with the heroes, and they love it when the heroes are children like them.

The second book doesn't disappoint. In fact, it makes me love the story even more. I highly recommend buying these terrific books. Read them with your children if you have any reservations

Summary: fantastic!
Review: In all the time I've spent reading different fantasy novels (from Dragonlance to Harry Potter to Artemis Fowl to Terry Brooks) I've never read anything quite like this finely written novel by Robert Stanek. It has everything I could ever ask for. You find outstanding characters, friendships, plot twists, action, magic, strange beasts, and even some funny parts. I found the story addicting almost. After this one, I immediatly ripped into the third book to see what happened.

Review: It was very enjoyable. I sat up most of the night never being able to put it down. The first was simply marvelous and this is even better. This book I recomend to anyone adult or child, not only is it an adventure everyone wishes they could go on but it is full of wonderful places and magic created by the most wonderful author of our time. If u have read the first book you must read this one and the rest!

Summary: Great book!
Review: It's really hard to put down once you start reading. The characters are great and each has a unique personality. The story has humor, mystery, suspense and magic. You'll stay at the edge of your seat just wondering what's going to be next. I'm not going into detail about what's going on in the book. You have to read it to find out. My son and I really like the whole series and we're glad book 3 is coming soon!

Summary: Prepare for a wonderful journey - our family's review
Review: Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches by Robert Stanek, is none other than a classic. Not as much humor as the Harry Potter series, still it has the special qualities Harry Potter fans will enjoy! It's a wonderful, creative story. Stanek has a unique way of explaining the lore of his world of Ruin Mist. Adrina is the female lead; she has a bit of an edge to her that reflects the events that have happened early in her life. I've enjoyed watching Adrina come of age in these books (and book 4 in particular) She is definitely a heroine full of character and life. Meanwhile Vilmos Tabborath, the "village counselors son" is a child prodigy of sorts but not in the way you expect. He has a dark side in that he cant control the power within him. He seeks to find out the truth of his birth and the secret of the magic. Only things don't go as well as he had hoped, and thats where the story takes off.

This tale is highly original, and it's a fairly easy read for those of you who have difficulty reading books and/or novels. It's easy to follow and it makes sense, in the same way that J.K. Rowling's writing does. Excellent book as well as series that I highly recommend! Definitely a keeper. Kelly & Kodie

Summary: Recommended reading for all ages
Review: My class loved these books last year, and so did I. This sequel to The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches is an excellent tale of a young boy who has a strange gift, a great kingdom under siege, a princess with a sad heart, and the people who are or become their friends. It is a story of friendship, and hard times. Vilmos, Adrina and their close friends have many adventures that keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

I recommend this story to anyone of any age who can read. It will keep you entertained the entire duration of the book. For anyone who didn't get hooked with the first book, the good news is that this book is even better. In fact, each book gets better and in my opinion, the Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches IV is the best book.

Summary: Review by Mary's Mom
Review: My hat is off to Robert Stanek! Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches, proved to be a jewel to this long over aged kid. This book the second of four thus far, was a pleasure to read. The story line was fasinating, the attention to detail and continuity that is sometimes lost in sequels is to be applauded. The characters are so colorful they seem to come to life as you read about their adventures. Not only is the suspense in this book strong enough to hold the interest of my teenage daughter but it has entertained and held the interest of her old mum as well. I look forward to reading more and sharing with my daughter.

Summary: Return to the kingdoms! Awsome!
Review: ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ! EVER!! The Kingdoms and Elves 2 was an outstanding book that I recommend to everyone who likes fantasy, wizard and excitement. Everything was exciting and I never once wanted to put it down. For me one of the most exciting parts was when Vilmos and Xith met the wolf beasts and if it wasn't for quick thinking they would of been dinner. I thought it was fascinating when Adrina met the secret lady and when they were taken prisoner. Robert Stanek makes sure everything is interesting from beginning to end. Anthing could happen and you just could'nt put it down!
