Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: This book in AMAZING! I love how Obi-Wan gets kidnapped! I have read all the books from 1-10 and this one is one of the best! Watson really gets into Obi-Wan's thoughts and feelings and makes you feel like you are on the mission also! Xanatos is an AWESOME bad guy and makes the story fresh and alive the whole time your reading it! This book takes off from where #1 left off so if #1 left you panicking about the cliffhanger, by all means, buy and read this book! May the Force be with you! Rating: Summary: Classic tale of Light vs. Dark Review: All the darksiders seem to be cool, and Xanatos is no exception. Although one of the shortest books in the series, this is jam-packed with action, and the plot is interesting, thick, and full of twists. Qui-Gon must put his skills to the test to outsmart his former Padawan, and Obi-Wan seems to cause more trouble than he is worth. But Jude Watson's first addition to the series is no disappointment. It delivers in every way, and I highly recommend it to any Star Wars fan.
Rating: Summary: MORE! Review: This book seems to forget that at the end of the prior one, Obi-Wan had came to the understanding that he would never become a Jedi Knight, and he accepted it. But right from the begining of this one, he was again hopefull. His acceptance was a part of why Qui-Gon started gaining respect for the young Obi-Wan. I just found the change between the end of the last book and the beginning of this one odd.The only problem I have with this book is the price. I didn't realize just how short it was. It took me just an evening to finish. I also had read the previous book the night before (that tells you just how short they are). It seems that these stories should have been put together into a much larger book. ...............
Rating: Summary: A worthy sequel Review: Jude Watson takes over where Dave Wolverton left off (though I like Wolverton better) with a slightly shorter novel set on Bandomeer. Young Obi-Wan is frustrated with the stagnant job to which he has been assigned, and begins digging through records to discover the person who blew up a mine. Meanwhile, Qui-Gon's concentration on his mission is sent spinning with a new arrival: his ex-apprentice Xanatos. The story of Xanatos's exit from the Order is deep and disturbing, and the lightsaber battles are impressively written. A familiar face is young Si Treemba, the Arconan who Obi-Wan befriended previously. The newer characters are somewhat less vibrant than Wolverton's, but still memorable. The main flaws appear to be: the cover art of Qui-Gon is clearly lifted from TPM, Clat'Ha is a nebulous presence, Obi-Wan seems to shift backward (not impossible, but odd), and the planet that Qui-Gon considered dangerous in the previous book seems quite tame. I enjoyed this book a great deal!
Rating: Summary: A Great Book! Review: This is a book about Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn on the planet Bandomeer. Obi-Wan is sent there to work as a farmer, and Qui-Gon is there on a mission for the Galactic Senate. But somehow Obi-Wan gets mixed up into Qui-Gon's mission and they both have to team up together to fight Qui-Gon's new enemy. I loooove these Jedi Apprentice books! I especially like Obi-Wan Kenobi (he's so cute!). Qui-Gon Jinn is cool, too. That look he always has is so mysterious. Their adventures together are never boring, and some parts are touching or sad. The Jedi Apprentice series keeps you reading and you can never put these books down! When I began reading one book, I could go nowhere without it! If you're a Star Wars fan, you should definitely get this book, along with the rest of the series.
Rating: Summary: Jedi Apprentice: The Dark Rival Review: This was an interesting book with a good plot, but there were some things that could have been better. There were typos, parts where names got confusing, and it was a lot shorter than the first book in the series. I think it was a good book, but Jedi Apprentice: The Rising Force, was much better.
Rating: Summary: Good one Review: I have read this book several times, and am ALMOST disapointed. I enjoy the plot; it teases you and takes several unexpected twists, yet it has some parts that disapoint me. Yet, all in all, it is a wonderful book, and I recomend it.
Rating: Summary: Perfectly balanced Review: Probably the best of the lot (7 read), though not my personal favourite (which is book three). The Dark Rival picks up from Rising Force, and Jude Watson takes over from Dave Wolverton. After reading the first book I thought: "Well, things can only get worse," but they didn't. I was very much impressed with Watson's story, and how she managed to maintain the style and atmosphere of the first book. The book stays with some of the characters of the first, and introduces the one for the next, thus creating the chain that this series has become. Everything in this book works and comes together. Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan are separated from eachother for a large part of the book, but everything the one picks up, is used by the other later. All scenes and settings have a reason to be there, and the drama that develops towards the end of the book, makes it hard to put down. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
