Summary: It was to layed back.
Review: I have read and followed Lois McMasters Bujold many books and have enjoyed everyone. But this book takes Miles' profile and twist it in another direction. In all the authors other books about Mies Vorkosigan, though his love life is there it does not affect his focus on the promblem and he would not sit there and feel sorry for himself while others did the work for him. As to Ekaterin; any women worth her salt and especially a Vor would not meekly accept her Husband malady and son's disease so passively as she did. Overall this is one book unlike the authors other books that I would not read again and again.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not her best
Review: OK for big fans of the series but probably not the book to give someone new to Miles' adventures. Ending was fairly obvious from the beginning and littl has been done to develop characters. Still, like ice cream, even bad Miles is still pretty damn good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great for long time fans, not so bad for newcomers
Review: My husband got me hooked on this series long ago, and I couldn't put this one down! I found this story a nice transition to a new phase in the life of Miles Naismith Vorkosigan. I've enjoyed watching Miles grow up and face down adversary with his unique style as Admiral Naismith. While his space adventures were great, (and I look forward to more in the future,) it's about time he started making a name for himself as Lord Auditor MILES VORKOSIGAN on his home turf. A good book for newcomers, but the nuances in this story can be better appreciated with a litle more Vorkosigan history. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Another must-read addition to the series!
Review: I just fininshed the book and thought it was great. Miles is so human and someone I would probably like to meet. I read this one in two sittings only under duress as I really didn't want to put it down. Keep those sequals coming!

Summary: Suitable Mate for Miles????? HA!!
Review: I must be one of the readers who doesn't get the "subtler" aspects of Ms. Bujold's lastest novel. And I don't care too. I've enjoyed all of Mile's books because of his strength, humor, tenacity, intelligence and ability to overcome overwhelming odds.

Now that he growing up, he's shrinking. He's not as sure of himself. He's not as intelligence. And his love interest are going downhill in a big way.

A GARDENER!!! Not just a gardener, but a garderner who didn't have the strength to leave a bad marriage and get her son well. This is the woman for MILES!!!! Oh my god. I can't imagine a more weak character. I can't imagine someone less likely to be a love interest for Miles.

I can forgive her her hobbies(gardening). But to not have the strength to go against her husband to get her only son cured is a weakness that a Mile's love interest would NEVER have.

Lastly, I thought Miles acted more stupid than he has in any other book. I was predicting ! things in front of him (not in his other books!).

I agree that this is a transition book, I just hope it transissions to more interesting battles than the one in which Miles convinces a 4 year old to go to school. I mean, it was cute, but it wasn't exactly up to Mile's standards.

Summary: Miles in transition
Review: People who read Bujold for her wonderful talent at writing about war in the future might be disappointed with Komarr, but those who read her for her sharp eye for world building will enjoy this book immensely. Authors of series often have a hard time when they allow their characters to go through a complete life arc and Bujold is no exception.

Miles was literally born an underdog and has slowly fought his way up to a position of legitimate authority. Going from a scrappy little 'mutant' to a respectable Imperial Auditor throws the balance off for readers who want to see Miles overcome adversity, but I believe Bujold is merely setting the stage for higher adventures.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not the best in the series but still a good read .
Review: KOMARR,is a fast paced well executed novel by an excellent writer (Lois Bujold). KOMARR, however is not without flaws Miles seems kind of lost in this book and doesn't show his usual brilliance. We get to see very little of the peoples reaction to the son of THE BUTCHER OF KOMARR as his father is known. Throughout most of the book Miles takes a back seat to his love interest Ekaterina Vorsoisson, a married woman whose despised husband dies halfway through. Having said that the book still has many merits including a potential future wife in Ekaterina .

Summary: A wonderful continuation of the Barrayar Saga
Review: Miles Vorkosigan has returned again, living and dealing with problems that plague all of us to a certain extent. He rises to the challenge of change and finds himself able to deal with life set into new parameters. He is able to deal with a career that has no boundaries, he questions his actions or lack of action and decides where to draw his own lines.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Weakest of the series, but necessary as further setup
Review: I agree with the majority that this is the weakest of the Miles Vorkosigan series. However, a point I have not seen made before, I believe it is a necessary setup and bridge to whatever comes next (sort of the way Renegades of Pern was weak for McCaffrey but it covered a lot of necessary developments to set up the next book). Otherwise it was worth reading if you are a fan, but not for your first Bujold. The addict crowd is growing, though. When I bought two copies the first day (one for my son), the clerk said she had only put them out two hours earlier and now they were half gone. I finished it that night, which probably beats the fan who was proud of finishing it the next day. Even if this one was a little weak, I also wish Bujold could write as fast as I read. Having tried to write, I know it's not that easy.

Summary: A mate for Miles at last?
Review: I'm sure I'm not the only rabid reader of the Vorkosigan series who's felt that THE big question for the most recent books has been: who will Miles marry? Elli Quinn looked promising (and is one of my favorite characters among many), but a permanent match with Miles has turned out not to be. And he's not the sort of hero to bed his way through the cosmos indefinitely, even if that might open up hope for those of us females in his fan club who would line up on the spot, should he materialize miraculously.

In Komarr, author Bujold is clearly on a more lasting matchmaking project. I find Ekaterin quite suitable and look forward to some more cliff-hanging before the knot is tied. Seeing much of the Komarr plot through Ekaterin's eyes was especially neat, since it allowed me and other Miles-sick fans to identify with her through the beginnings of the courtship dance.

Of course, a married Miles just opens up other and fascinating plot possibilities. A space-age Nick and Nora Charles? Brenda Starr and Basil St. John? And of course Han Solo and Princess Leia. Many models exist for strong couples who work together in a book plot, dealing with problems from the outside, and from themselves and each other. We've come a long way since the lovely but insipid Deja Thoris always had to be rescued from the Barsoom baddies by John Carter.
