Summary: Oh dear god the humanity!!!!!!!
Review: What the hell happened here? What was Lucas thinking how could they allow this to even be published?? The way that Dalla suddenly went from ruthless admiral to leading a convey what the hell was with that? The way that Leia was supposed to be utterly defenseless was crap and the Droch thing was the saddest attempt at producing an enemy that I have ever seen and then Callista showed up and was all weepy cause i can't feel the force and If i can't feel the force I can't love you Luke ifelt like puking this book is not worth the paper it is printed on and barbara hambly should NEVER NEVER write Star Wars!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: JEDI TALENT AT BEST!!!
Review: In this Star Wars masterpeice Leia truly starts to use her strong sense in the Force to free herself from deadly captives and warn the New Republic of a deadly disease.

Summary: slow beginning, but a great book
Review: I don't know why everyone hated this book so much. The beginning was a little laborious, and I wish C3PO would be deactivated in ALL star wars books. Anyway, this book does focus more on the cerebral aspects of the characters, especially Leia and Luke. Large amounts of the book deal with the Force and Leia's growing knowledge of it. It is a good book because it's star wars. If you're looking for a fast paced action novel, go elsewhere. If you want a decent well-formed story that comes together pretty well at the end, then this one is recommended. There are also some new characters that are interesting, but the evil Dzym is one of the best of the "non-movie based" characters that have been introduced in a long time. At least borrow the paperback and give it a chance.

Summary: It's really not that bad.
Review: I wasn't expecting much when I first bought. I mean, her previous Star Wars novel Children of the Jedi was absolutely horrible. Anyways, this novel did surpass my expectations. It did have some of the good stuff you would look for in a Star Wars story, like lightsaber fights. It was nice to see the New Republic facing defeat (again), as it was nice to see the droids get a somewhat bigger part than they've been getting. (I do think, however, that Bantam shouldn't have hired so many Star Trek writers to write Star Wars novels. You can sometimes really tell in the writing.)

Summary: What happened here? is this a STAR WARS book?
Review: what? huh? that book i just read...was that Star Wars? no...couldnt be!

this book was probably the worst book i have ever read...or its at least tied with Children of the Jedi, that other terible book by Barbara Hambly.

the beginning started out terribly. it was so boring and i was literally forcing myself to read on, hoping that it would get better.

the characters were all wrong...i'm sure that the Leia, Han, Luke, etc. that i was reading about were NOT the Leia, Han, luke that we all love from the trilogy. these people must have been clones gone bad...

This book was not about Leia! the chief of state that was descibed was NOT Leia. in the beginning, she sounded like a mean, snobby, cold, hard politician whose power has gotten to her. she wasnt warm and caring like the Real Leia Organa Solo is. Later, she became more normal, but still, i kept thinking: who is this???? they said she had a deep voice. um, correct me if im wrong, but Leia DOES NOT have a deep voice.

Han was weird. He wasnt as bad as Leia, but, please, people, come on!!! that WAS NOT Han. period. end of story.

And Luke was even worse! was this the Jedi Master we all know? NO!!! it was not. he doesnt think or act like that...that just WAS NOT Luke. end of discussion. next topic.

granted, the book got better as it progressed, but it still was a weird story. and those Drochs were GROSS!

I was very surprised with the ending on the last few pages with the Dalla-and-Liegeus-interaction. dont wanna mention it in cause someone reading this didnt read the book yet. i was surprised, but i still kinda liked it.

anyway, this book was not good. i'll basically read any STAR WARS book and i can tell by reading the blurb ( i love that word) if its gonna be good or bad. i knew this would be bad. but i read it anyway...i shouldnt have done that..but at least the Callista thing is now all cleared up...

Summary: Wait a second...how did this horrid book get by Lucas?
Review: Planet of Twilight was the creepiest books I ever read. I found myself flipping to parts with Han or Leia. I don't really know how it ends because I gave up once I read about those disgusting 'drochs'. The plot was a mess, the characters seemed to have lost their personalities (poor, poor Han!), and when Callista (who I can't stand from Children of the Jedi) showed up, I couldn't stand it anymore. I know Lucasfilm has to approve Star Wars books before they're published. All I can say is that somebody let this one slip by them.

Summary: Planet of Twilight- darkness is upon it.
Review: I'm very excited every time a new Star Wars book comes out, but it's true that in the past there have been some wrenching dissapointments, as all of Star Wars' values, themes and characteristics wander further and further from the original ideas. Hambly's attempts were unfortunately some of those. She really doesn't like Luke, does she? I think that after her attempt to hook him up with Callista failed due to its tremendous unpopularity with the readers, she decided to take revenge and just make him die of pain. When in this book is he NOT maimed and mutilated? I also have a problem with infested bugs taking over the Universe, headed by another bug who was originally meant to be a culinary dish. Taselda... a Jedi Knight, supposedly, turned into a dirty hag with rotten teeth and eating bugs come ON, some respect for the Jedi?! Leia spends the book as a drugged prisoner... And Luke never does come face to face with Callista, save for a brief mental exchange right at the end. It WAS the point of his trip to find her, wasn't it? But anyway, I guess I'm glad in a way he let it go, I have nothing against Callista as a character as long as she stays away from Luke. She can have Lando, Luke is marrying Mara and THAT is the best news to sweep the Galaxy so far. Somebody, PLEASE, make Tim Zahn the exclusive writer for Star Wars. People, petition!

Summary: I don't see why everyone is ganging up on Barbara Hambly
Review: I enjoyed this book. Sure, some things got a little slow, but they picked up soon. According to the other reviews I read, some people do not share my optimistic review of it. The plot's good, and you have to give Hambly credit for trying.

Summary: PLEASE HELP!!
Review: I would like to take this opportunity to ask a favor of the more worthy Star Wars authors, like Timothy Zahn or Kevin J. Anderson. Please write a Star Wars novel and KILL CALLISTA in it!!!!! This character is completely worthless, just like the rest of Hambly's two books.
