Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Expecting Star Wars... I found Romeo and Juliet (literally)! Review: What's wrong with this writer? She absolutely doesn't know anything about what makes Star Wars characters STAR WARS CHARACTERS!!! First of all, her writing is terribly boring. I expected lots of fun and action, as anyone would... It being a Star Wars novel... But NO!!! Instead I found a futuristic Romeo and Juliet. Written, in the very least, very very boring Shakespearan-style... I was so itching for actions, new twists, etc., and all I got was a several hundred pages of PROSE!!! Second, what's wrong with Luke and Callista? One main point of the story is for Luke to search for her long-lost beloved... But what? It was let alone in a couple of chapters in the end... If she wants to take out Callista, then take her out with style - just as was done in DARKSABER. If not, then create a better reunion for Luke and Callista!!! What's more, I hate the way she treats LUKE (my favorite SW character). He's supposed to be a Jedi Master, and what does she do? He makes him look like a fool to everyone else (including this reader)... He is even worst than 4-year old learning how to wield the Force... Kyp or Tionne would have done better in this mission... To BH: If you are planning to write more Star Wars novesl, I'd suggest that you read the OTHER good novels. AND WATCH the trilogy AGAIN... That you may better understand what makes the Star Wars universe click...
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Boring Review: B.H. again manages to render most readers comatose with her plodding prose. The Novel is painful to read, and even manages to surpass Children of the Jedi in the "Worst Star Wars book I've read" award.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: SOMEONE STOP HER!!! Review: WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE STOP THIS LADY FROM RUINING THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE... I KEEP BUYING THE BOOKS EVEN WITH HER NAME ON THEM, ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE STAR WARS... AND I THINK EACH TIME, HOW BAD COULD SHE SCREW UP THE CHARACTERS I KNOW AND LOVE... AND EACH TIME SEE DOES IT AGAIN... STOP HER PLEASE... BEFORE SHE KILLS OFF LUKE OR LEIA IN SOME BORING MYNOCK FIGHT TO THE DEATH... HEY BARB... KNOW WHAT A MYNOCK IS?
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This book is very interesting, with good anomylies. Review: I like the motion and conflict of this book. It has interesting anomylies, like the fact that a very common insect caused the Death Seed Plague and that the crystals are alive. Another anomyly is that there is a Huttese Jedi. I would buy this book in a few seconds.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Even my diminished expectations ... Review: Even my dimished expectations weren't enough to keep me from being disappointed by this book. After having read "Children of the Jedi" I swore I wouldn't buy this novel but fate was against me as I received it as a gift from a well-meaning boss. Ms. Hambly does not 'get' the characters right and has written a poor plot which seems to be anything but Star Wars. Only "The Crystal Star" was less appropriate for the series. Perhaps it's because she has such a fantasy-inspired, 'chick-fic' style that Hambly seems unable to write a novel to the standards set by Zahn, Stackpole and Allston. I found it difficult to follow exactly what was happening and didn't really care that I did once the story began to unfold in earnest. The ending was fairly anti-climatic with the last handful of pages being laugh-out-loud pitiful. A lot of people have criticized Hambly for doing nothing definitive with Callista in this novel. The truth is she really couldn't. Callista was introduced in "Children of the Jedi" which was written after the "Corellian Trilogy" had already started. In that series which occurs years later, she's never mentioned (since she did not exist when it was conceived). She was doomed from the start and had to be written out of the Star Wars universe sooner or later. This reality is also partly the reason I gave this creation two stars instead of the one that it probably deserves. Since it was written out of order, I knew my favorite characters would have to emerge unscathed and unsoiled despite Ms. Hambly's diligent effort to the contrary. I read the book with piece-of-mind despite knowing the author's propensity for fouling things up.

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: More of the same Review: Has anyone noticed that the Star Wars plots, with the exception of Timothy Zahn's, are being repeated over and over again? With the latest batch of one volume tales, a small crisis happens, someone goes to investigate, they uncover something that could destroy the universe and the New Republic, all the main characters get together, Luke usually gets injured, and they overcome insurmountable obstacles to save the day. Well, this book is the same thing. About the only thing that was even interesting was Leia and a Hutt having a lightsaber duel! Stick with the X-wing books and/or the original Zahn trilogy. Zahn's newest book also shows some potential to break out of the mold. Of course, if you've got a friend who bought this, go ahead and read it, but I wouldn't bother reading it.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A solid read for any Star Wars fan. Review: You people are harsh! This book is not a classic battle of the Republic Vs. the Empire but it was a great new twist I thought. Besides this book, I have only read the Zahn books in the SW's series and lets face it Zahn is a SW master. But if you are looking for an interesting story where some former Admiral or General from the Empire doesn't mysteriously reappear out of hyper-space check this book out. I thought it was an a thought provoking enemy and the challenges that Luke and Leia face with the Force was also intriguing. My only negative comment on the book is the too perfect ending. When Liegus and Dalla found each other was too much, and unless she plans on continuing with these characters in future novels who cares what happens to them?
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Hambly shows maturity with this well-written book. Review: Barbara Hambly shows surprising maturity in this book, which is very well written, and much better than the awful Children of the Jedi. This book not only has a good plot but it deals with life, the Force, and relationships in a much deeper, almost religious, way than many previous Star Wars novels. There is serious philosophical discussion and thought involving Luke, Leia, Callista, and the other characters. Also, Daala, dealing with her broken spirit, and eventually turning away from evil, fits in perfectly with George Lucas' original theme of redemption. This is a must read for any true fan of the Force, as well as for the newcomer. Planet of Twilight is truly worthy of joining the Star Wars Universe.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Gets better as you read on Review: I thought the first part was so boring! I was almost falling asleep!!! It got better as it went on. Hambly sure improved a lot from that terrible book "Children of the Jedi". It's an OK book.
