Rating: Summary: Lethally Funny! Review: I stumbled upon this book in a bookstore somewhere, picked it up for the title and proceeded to howl my way through the funniest Science Fiction that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Starting with a squashed (?) accountant, a renegade band of Alien perverts and a street gang, then gaining momentum through some of the oddest adventures and places ever imagined, finally winding up with the good guys triumphing. You'll even discover what a thurstd gik is. Find it, buy it, memorize it, never let the copy out of your sight. I haunt used book stores just to buy copies to give to friends, I love it so much.
Rating: Summary: Watch it or your funny bone will break!!! Review: If your able to get a copy of this book, WATCH OUT. Even after 4 years of reading the book I still remember most of the punch lines. Everything from the group of thugs that take over a alien ship to the born again master race (mysteriously resembling redwood trees) that reappear with our (humanity's help). As to being able to put this book down, you can't unless you have a really good CROWBAR.
Rating: Summary: This book is non-stop action and laughs! Review: It was very good. Good science fiction and good humor rolled into one. Tremendously fun!
Rating: Summary: SF/Humor/Adventure Review: My first sold novel, and my first collaboration with Phil Foglio, ILLEGAL ALIENS, is packed full of pyrotechnique fights (on the Earh and in deep space) non-stop jokes, a double-surprise ending and culminates with Humanity having group sex with the aliens. Also check my Occult/Military/Humor series: BUREAU 13, DOOMSDAY EXAM, FULL MOONSTER, and the deadly serious Shadowrun novel, SHADOWBOXER. I also write under the name of 'Jack Hopkins'.
Rating: Summary: Is this really worth 5 stars??? Review: OK. I gave it 5 stars because I didn't want to ruin its rating, when it is evidently so beloved by every other reviewer. It was really only worth 1 or 2 stars. I read this because of its high rating, but didn't find it the equal of, say, just about any other science fiction book. Having said that -- I did get a real laugh out of the first few chapters. The street gang vs the aliens was definitely amusing. But once that was done....
I do think the authors are good at describing people. This would probably make a good "made for TV movie." And it did leave me with a certain good will towards the writers. But that is really all. Can't recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Get a copy...you will be glad you did. Review: One of the first books I ever read. Completely captivated me and got me and my brother both hooked on reading since then. I am always recommending it, but will never ever loan my only precious copy to anyone for fear of never getting it back. This is one funny book with a great original story and great original characters.
Rating: Summary: so glad to see this in print again! Review: So nice to see this puppy back in print! all you folks selling it for 80.00+ go soak you dirty heads! One of the great stories from TSR's heyday. I read this sucker the first time while a senior in high school way back in 89 and it still makes me bust a gut! Fun,wacky and a great read!
Rating: Summary: I've lost 4 coppies so far, looking for #5. Review: The book features some of Phil and Nick's finest work. A MUST read for anyone who can find it. To say that it will be hard to put down, will be like saying it will be hard to stop breathing: you can do both easilly enough when your dead. I have owned 4 coppies of the book and all of them keep disapearing when loaned to friends. Go figure. I only hope to find a fifth copy soon. Beware stange men with a piece of fruit and a piece of string, Pink yourself often and make mine a Coney Island special, with no straw. Straws are for wimps.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I ever read! Review: The first books I ever read by Nick Pollotta were the Bureau 13 adventures. Then a friend loaned me a copy of this book and when I read it I had to try very hard to return. Keep writing Nick!
Rating: Summary: If you can find it... Review: This book was simply incredible. I picked it up in a train station bookstore for something to do on the 22 hour ride to Florida. I don't think I slept the entire 22 hours. Serious Sci-Fi mixed with great humour make this a must-read for any Science Fiction fan.
